It won’t matter in 20 years. We all consider Chad to be a legend and his three titles came with his main competition out.
Regardless of Jett being out, Sexton rattling off 6 overalls in a row is legit, no matter who is missing from the gate.
We should all be cheering for this, no one wants to turn on the race and know who is going to win. Unless you are Mirtl or one of the weirdo “73 wins stamp it” guys.
This.
Reading the posts its like giving credit to Chase is somehow taking credit away from Jett... Are the Jett fans that insecure??
Whatever... Add Prado next year and let's have some fun.
To answer your question, yes.

3 months ago I said he looked like he was starting to get the bike figured out…starting to gel with it.
Now, seems to me he’s got the bike figured out and he knows how to make those subtle changes between tracks/motos.
As for his “era”…? Doesn’t he have 2 450 titles…? Do ya think he’ll be fighting for a few more?
Ando, my favorite Jett glazer, I made you a new pfp free of charge, my friend. Just for you. Hope you enjoy!

Ha! Just realism my friend. For me in the Reed/RC era the shoe was on the other foot - I really wanted Reedy to win a title against RC but just couldn't seem to make it happen.
Chase is a great rider and has proved that by winning two 450 titles. It's also true that head to head the results are heavily skewed toward Jett.
They've both been on the gate for 32 motos. Jett has beaten Chase in 29 of those, Chase beat Jett in 3 of those and those 3 were Hangtown where Jett crashed out and the following race at Southwick in Moto 2, when Jett still won the overall. When they've both been healthy Chase has never beaten Jett in a Moto. Before I'm downvoted, that in no way means he isn't a deserving champion this year
Statistically this may be true, but it doesn’t paint the full picture. Last year chase was coming back from ringing his bell pretty hard - sx he struggled with setup on the pumpkin. I believe he has gone to a new level this outdoor season, the hangtown last to 1st proves this…. I know jett wasn’t out there… just hope he can get the pumpkin dialled for sx like he has managed to for the outdoors. Big fan of both guys, but an even bigger fan of great racing, add a fired up ET, AP, HL,CW,KR,JPG we’re in for a hell of a season come A1.
Hint: Injuries are part of racing, They go hand in hand with riding over your head, making a mistake, pushing too hard, one second of just bad luck, etc. Those are all racing circumstances, not tripping on a crack in the sidewalk or getting hit by an asteroid..
To win you have to be healthy enough to show up.
There are no “Give Me” titles in professional motocross.
Downvote me all you want, but I absolutely disagree with the "has gone to a new level this outdoor season" statement. You just gotta look at the gaps Jett and Chase put on the field last year specially towards the end of the season or at the beginning of this season. I doubt he is any faster than that. The only difference? Well both guys are already on a different level compared to the rest of the field and one of them will always look absolutely unbeatable when the other one is out. Chase knows he has everyone else covered and it shows in his riding style when he has nobody else to worry about out there.
It's funny to me that people think all of the sudden after Southwick he would have run over Jett when he has proven that in one moto when Jett already had the overall. I do really hope he will beat him more often though next year and get over this mental thing when he has to ride behind him.
I think they will both reach and push eachother to a scary level in the next years, this wasn't the last time someone of them will get injured also, injuries will be inevitable at that level.
This summer was just a minor interruption in the Jett era.
🤣
That’s at the core of the issue…isn’t it?
There are a few racers at the front that are REALLY pushing the limits. Riding faster than the rest and…at times…really hanging it out to pull it off. Jett and Chase are the definitive examples, here.
At the same time, there are a few other riders that’re are setting a limit for themselves…not pushing too hard all the time. Not hanging it out so much.
That’s the difference I’m seeing. I believe Anderson and to a certain extent…even Eli as of late…even KR are examples of the guys setting a limit. Look at Anderson at Washougal or Eli during SX…both of them have days when they “let go just a little” and really show some speed. But, most of the time…they set a limit. KR? Well, he’s jus’ Kenny…there’s always something hiding in him…it’s a matter of “when” he “lets it out”. When he does? It’s a BEAUTIFUL THING…isn’t it? I believe Hunter is a lot like that, too.
That’s where my head is at after watching these guys all these years. And, guess what? I could be wrong! 🤣
I mentioned this a few times and im sure others have made the comparison
Chase and Jett are the new Ryans (Dungey and Villipoto)
2 guys that will be upfront almost every race and take all most every championship
and the record confirms this over the last 4 championships (not including SMX)
2023 SX champ Chase Sexton
2023 MX Champ Jett Lawerence
2024 SX champ Jett Lawerence
2024 MX Champ Chase Sexton
That's what everyone said when Hannah broke his leg water skiing.
Didn't Hannah come back years later an win the SX title on a Honda
He won a lot of races after that but no titles .
Hannah did continue to win but the era of Hannah domination was over.
Pit Row
Jett went 22-0 because the reigning champion (Tomac) was out due to injury.
ok, I'll take a bite at the bait; Do you realize Chase had a concussion to start the 23 outdoor series, then a practice crash the week after the first round and he had to miss some races? Tell us all how focused and risk averse you would be with two concussions in 2 1/2 weeks?
Fast Forward 2024, Chase was on a new bike (a bike that Copper Webb felt was so terrible he got out of his contract and switched to Star Racing)
It is kinda funny how badly timed Chase's career has been so far. He comes into the 450 class while an established legend is still at the peak of his powers in Eli Tomac. He improves on his speed/consistency and with Tomac aging/getting injured & approaching the end of his career, it looks like a true Chase Sexton "era" will commence, as that's typically the pattern. Only problem is, this freak Australian comes up into the 450 class at the same time and is probably the best premier-class rookie in the history of the sport.
Sexton's prime is literally sandwiched between two potential Mt. Rushmore figureheads of Moto (emphasis on potential - obviously, Jett has a ways to go, and Tomac is heavily debatable).
The only other guy I can think of with worse timing is Reed - he dealt with THE greatest for the first 4 years of his 250 2t/450F career, then dealt with the fastest SX rider of all time for most of that prime as well. Think that wasn't enough competition already? The two Ryans come into the class to haunt him for the rest of his competitive Moto career - one being arguably the most dominant racer (when healthy) since Carmichael himself, and the other being the most insanely consistent, un-fuck-withable machine of an athlete of his decade.
Good post. I think you are spot on. I also think it is hilarious that Chase is riding better then ever, won one of the top Championships in the world 5 Days ago, and is 24yo…..and some are writing him off as done. You are stupid if you think that. Southwick worried Jett. He was past his previous injury, as shown by his relative position with Hunter, and the fact he said it…until he was beat, and Chase laid the hurt down in moto 2. I’m not saying that is every race from now on….but it will be some. How much? We’ll see….and Jett may raise more #1 plates in the end…but Chase will raise some in the future also. You could go back a year ago and read a lot of posts saying Jett would win everything for the next decade. They were wrong then…and they are wrong now. All jmho
It makes you wonder if that moto 2 win by Chase at Southwick had any bearing on Jett getting hurt in practice. Was Jett trying too hard in practice because he got beat? Probably not but one wonders.
Chase and Jett are both the ultimate top level of the sport
When chase went head to head, down to the wire with ET3 in AMA pro MX in 2022 you had 2 guys up front and the rest way behind them
Same Thing happened in 2023 AMA Pro MX but Jett was just slightly better and able to pull off the perfect season
This season in AMA pro MX one thing I noticed was Jett looking back, but ONLY when it was Chase coming thru
To me Jett took extra chances to beat his top competition and its went bad
The two guys that really stepped up and were close to or even running the leading pace were AP and Hunter , very impressive !!
I think that's a case of guys getting older too, 21 vs 31, having a family and kids.
What’s been learned over all these years by the Oder guys…? 🤔
They’ve had enough time sitting out due to injuries that they have a well learned perspective. Also, they’re interested in “being there” for each race. That doesn’t mean that Chase and Jett don’t consider these things…but…you can tell it’s not at the front of their mind and they certainly are not holding back ANYTHING when they’re out there.
As to having a family and maybe reprioritizing risk? Yes, I think that’s apparent & that’s to be expected. When your my age, you see that as someone just getting smarter with age…and, yes…it’s sorta just a joke; but, it’s true.
Something that I notice is always missing in these discussions: no one ever seems to mention that these guys are always learning…alway trying new things…always looking for improvement. With that said, Chase and Jett…and whoever decides to join them at the front of the pack…are gonna be pushing it and going faster as they continue to push each other.
We’ve got some seriously awesome racing ahead of us. May they all “stay off the ground and healthy”!
"Are the Jett fans that insecure".
Does a bear shit in the woods?
Maybe so.....but Chase was hurt early in the 23 season and Eli was also missing, so I guess the 22-0 also has an *.....also not as good as RC and Stews 24-0, right?
Not to mention a decades worth more wear and tear on the body in one of the most grueling sports, plus the mental limitations that come with past injuries and aging.
The self preservation instinct is much stronger in a 31 year old than a 21 year old.
