It’s unpopular but I think you have to put AP as the MX1 guy. Sexton is just too in shape not to have the back to back MX3 motos. Maybe a little strategy here

Pure class by ET. He knows he is not race ready to the degree he needs to be to go and put his best foot forward. And recognizing AP for his season and his speed is an example for all to follow. AP has never been better, and some of you are whining about the team you have? Amazing. USA will also be a favourite, sometimes a prohibitive favourite, to win this competition. I'm thrilled for AP, he fucking earned it.

AP has is riding well but I still think for the MXoN's Tomac is the guy.

I've been told that Deegan is in with Chase. You guys will have a strong team and have a legit chance of winning this thing.

Hunter and Jett will be good but their 3rd rider will need to pull finger.

The Nederlands are on par with the USA team.

The Frenchies will also be good..for a podium.

It's gonna take a little luck to win this thing

You're right....it was Kawi that shit the bed by refusing to be on the same radio communication as the rest of the team and their main purpose of being there was to test the new bike in race conditions....

If there is one advantage AP has over Tomac it's that his starts have been great this year.  That is a huge positive at an event like this if he can continue that.  He has beat team Australia #2 guy multiple times recently also.  So it's not like AP takes USA out of it.

He got hurt on year at the mxdn causing bad results, hopefully he can right the ship this year!

My take on this is…nothing makes Vital members happy

Here’s to hoping Eli can stay healthy the rest of this year and next year and put in the results so he is worthy of being picked for his last nations, in the USA, and ever.

To be fair to AP, he hurt himself on Saturday in 2018.

It’s my understanding by the comments I read or heard somewhere that star has to foot the bill and they wouldn’t send just one rider because of money issues.

AP’s results in ‘18 were skewed by his huge crash in the qualy race.  Yes, it’s on him, but he was battling for the lead at the time.  How did Jett do after his crash at Hangtown??  Similar effect.

I was leaning Tomac, and Ironman didn’t change my mind either way.  But I’m good with either.  I do think this is a better AP than last year.  And a couple top 5 starts from him should provide the results needed to compete for a win.

Given AP's performances at the MXoN, I don't have much faith in him to get redemption. The last thing we need is another sub-par performance with a "we'll get 'em next time, guys" attitude. I respect AP for being willing to represent his country, but I don't think he's the one for the job.  In my opinion, Justin Cooper would be a better choice since I feel he would handle the pressure better.

If I had to guess, Tomac probably doesn't feel fully ready, especially on the world stage, and that was just as much a factor, if not more, than AP "deserving" to go, since even if Tomac beat AP in the last two rounds, wouldn't AP by virtue of having been there all season still deserve to go?

It has been a few weeks of this kind of silliness. All the while, AP was motoring his way on to the podium and over the summer showed the consistency and speed to be the MX3 rider.

To be clear, Eli looks great and put in a couple weeks of superb riding. But, for the second time in as many years…he’s coming off of injury and he’s had to take a lot of time off to heal. I, for one, would like to see him stay focused on his recovery and 2025 potential. Hell, I’m not too sure about his need to participate in WSX…I don’t feel he needs the additional risk as he looks at the upcoming 2025 season. But, hey…I’m betting there’s A LOT of “start money” being thrown at him…so, I get it.

Assigning ANYTHING other than what Eli says to this decision? Is weak and lacks the respect Eli deserves.

As we go fwd and tune up for MXON…

With AP we’ve got a guy that’s SOLIDLY PODIUMED the last 4 races outdoors…

Got great starts at several outdoor motos…again…especially these last 4 Nationals…GREAT STARTS.

Rode lead at some of those races…(can lead a moto without over-doing it)…

Passed other VERY FAST RACERS… at those races…1 or 2 of whom will be at MXON…(Hunter…KR?)

Has FINISHED ALL the outdoor motos.

Finished 19 of 22 motos in the Top 5.

I don’t know how to ignore those results. Those appear to his best and most consistent results since he won a title on 250s.

But didn’t Max Anstie say Star didn’t want to foot the bill to send him? If the don’t want to send just one guy, they have two right there between Deegan and Anstie.

A question to the people who are shitting on AP’s previous DN performances, do you feel that he has been the same rider this summer as previous years?.

He is riding the best he ever has right now, yesterday he knew that he rode for a spot on the team and maned up and delivered the best ride of the year.

Has Tomac done better in the past?- Yes, but he has also been a head case in races through out of his career too.

It’s really classy of Tomac to do this and he might feel that he is close to his max right now? He did not look bad yesterday and remove Sexton and AP people here would have praised Tomac and talked about beast mode..

This is not about talking up AP, it’s about not throwing shit on him. The guy who went when others pulled out last year and now had the best season so far. He is not a bad option for you guys.

AND if Haiden won’t go without Tomac, if there is anything true to that, well that’s on him…

AP's overall finish last year, was 4.09, AP's overall finish this year, was 3.09. For the sake of bench racing, adding 1 position to every race Jett was not in, his overall finish drops to 4.45. I expect the same showing at MxOn as in the past.

The thing your disregarding is AP lately has been in the pace that has gapped the field so he has def picked it up. The KTM's look good so sure that has helped.

All I am asking of AP is just to preform under pressure and know how ot handle the pressure. If he riders over there like he has here, we will be in contention for a win if Chase and Deegan go. I just want him to do good at nations so we can hopefully forget about the previous showings. All though I will say that if he got 5th last year in one of the moto's, good job, we need to see more of that, and consistently this year.

Yoy could argue that AP wouldnt be the best choice and even come up with a few races to support that in the past . However his current results and speed against the other riders every week, theres not many reason right now to not send him.

That was a pretty arrogant comment by Deegan, a slap to AP for sure. The other take is Star not wanting to foot the bill to go. Anstie on Team England was up in the air. He made it sound like Tomac going would make it more justifiable to get 3 bikes over there.

Do you think Deegan would go if it was an all Star Yamaha team. Like a Weeb, Cooper, Deagan. Would that be considered a ,,"B" team?

Good for Eli and a class act as usual.  AP deserved it as him and Sexton will do well.

That would be a “B” team without a doubt. Any combination not including Sexton would be a “B” team. Sexton is without a doubt the best USA rider currently. I don’t even think anyone can argue against it. I highly doubt Deegan has any issues with Sexton being on the team.

I don’t even know why you included Webb. If hypothetically they wanted to send an all Star Yamaha team it would be Tomac, J. Cooper and Deegan. Which would still be a “B” team without Sexton.

I don't know, I was just wondering if Deegan would go if that was the team.  I mean it would be a Star team. I would think Star would support. .....Plus, I just think it would be funny to put Deegan in the position to choose.

But the way, I don't support that team choice..just shooting shit

I said the same thing months ago now. If they don’t put Sexton in MX3 the descion makers need to go. He is probably the fittest motocross racer on the planet.

I would have literally rather have Justin cooper as the third guy.

I just don’t think AP will handle the pressure well at all… hope I’m wrong, but if the team is sexton, Deegan, and AP. We will drop one AP moto and his second one will be the reason we lose.

We are going to drop a moto.....but it might not be AP's moto score. He has been a great starter(especially recently)....he stays in the fight, and rarely fades out of the top five.

The moto score we do have to be a little worried about is One of Deegans. Don't tell me you wouldn't be surprised if something "Deegish" happens and we have to drop one of his.

Also, remember guys, while Deegan is racing in the 250 class, he still is racing against the big boys. And bot just the big boys from the states. He will be on the gate against Herlings, Prado, Gaser,, etc. Deegan has never done that before. This is a whole new pressure that might affect him 1 moto.

But that little mofo has been riding so good, I could see him pulling a Villopoto and beating all the big Bikes on the 250.
