A: "Take away his credit card!"
You have to love his NFGs.
Interesting take on an amateur promoter.
"people cant afford it"...the pits at Loretta's looked pretty full of toter homes.
"motor"
I think that is his point, did you miss that?
TOTER...not motorhome. If the pits at Loretta's is full of TOTERHOMES, I am not convinced people "can't afford it".

He's an interesting dude that's for sure.
Out of that came one 65cc mini bike. )
I usually can’t get on board with much of what Ryno says, but in this one, I give him props for not being on the teet of the industry and speaking real life facts on the subject. Props!
I wonder as to who Ryno is referring to with regards to the "One Promoter"?...........
id guess davey / mxsports
Society man!!!! It's the way society is going!!!! 🤦♂️
Economics 101 by Ryan Hughes.
Its good to see the real personalities of riders come out, after their racing career has gone. Ryno, Bubba, Villo, Windham, Shorty, all were different people to whom i imagined. Ryno is correct, but there is no way to fix this issue.
there it goes.....one more ex racer warning about the fails of the system, raising more red flags !!!!!!
of course most members here will do the ostrich play, stick their head in the sand and pretend all is great just because its america.....then a few will be very happy to spread rumors about the fast guys from mxgp all coming to race in america..... and take even more rides from the americans trying to make it to pro ranks.....just out of curiosity, does anybody know where will, the 10 fastest from Lorettas be racing next ???? do they even know themselves ????
Dirt bikes are getting expensive, must of took some time with that research, earth shattering. Here is some more news, nobody is keeping where money comes from a secret.
1990 CR250R was $3995.00 wich according to inflation calculator comes to $9,851.88.
2025 CRF450R is $9,699.00, so bikes are more affordable than ever!
Seriously though, every time this gets brought up people point out that bikes have stayed pretty flat once inflation is added. The totter homes, cell phones, exterior mounted big screen TV's, GoPro vlogging set up's, live in training camps, $20,000 sxs's for pit vehicles, etc is where it's getting out of hand.
People showing up in 30ft fun haulers pulled by a brand new HD Diesel truck with 1 KTM50 and a side by side to sit in to watch their kid go around the junior track are the people screaming that things are expensive. Like any sport, it's as expensive as you make it. But in terms of any other motorized sport, MX is pretty dang cheap.
On the other hand though, I do see motocross racing dying a slow death while Offroad racing is on the rise. A lot of the moto guys around me are now opting to go race GNCC, Sprint Enduro, or Harescrambles. Why? You get the most track time for your buck. Show up at noon on a Sunday, racing by 1pm, done by 4pm. Don't have to sit through a multitude of mini classes. In and out and home in time for supper with the entire rest of the evening to relax. On off weekends they practice at the moto tracks and spin laps.
Same with a lot of things. People remember a price from 10 years ago and think it should always be that price. Meanwhile, the dollar is worth less these days (therefore you need more to buy something). Pretty standard economics. If anything, given how complex dirt bikes have become it is amazing the price has been kept in line with inflation. Also, it is fairly easy to get deals online.
As you said, where it becomes unaffordable is racing. But even for weekend warriors it can be expensive if your local track is too far away. For me, it is a 1.5 hour drive minimum to a track that has open practice days routinely. There isn't even private tracks nearby.
Those toter folks have more than 1 65 or 50—they have a dozen—-and a mechanic. Nothing new here. Kalos and Heinz had full on tour busses in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s. Wedding had a 30’ box truck with lift—-in 1975. Trettel had a huge trailer with Ponca bikes on one side and Loretta bikes on the other side (all brand new)——that family was on the road for months at a time in 2003. Money does what money does.
Yeah and if you want to camp the whole weekend its $40 per adult gate fee and you can hangout and camp Thursday-Sunday at GNCCs.
I have 3 off-road series that every race is within 2 hours of me and unless the weather sucks they have at least 200-400 riders at every race.
Pit Row
Just because people have something doesn't mean they can afford it. Apparently 78% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. That tells me that's probably the case for 70-80% of the people at the races.
Paycheck to paycheck isn't the worst thing in the world, but it doesn't leave much margin, does it?
Cant putprice on a cheesy facebook photo of yourself holding a 5$ cardboard “admit one” plaque
I almost made a topic on this but figured everyone would glaze DC.
Credit figures out yesterday did not paint a good picture, basically everyone is already maxed. We know this as the savings rate is negative and credit is not increasing IE they don't have any left to spend.
I'd guess that was a rhetorical question.
The only proper way to get to the track is with your bike in the back of the truck, with ramp ,gear bag and gas can. Then when you get rich, you can get an enclosed trailer with a water tank and generator in the front. Thats what all the high rollers had in the 90's at District 29 events and Victory Sports AX in the winter. I piggybacked off a buddy and rode with him and his box trailer for a year. It was the good life. 🤣
I feel pretty factory rolling up in my 2020 ranger and 5x8 enclosed with a camp shower bladder thrown on top. Can't hide money 😄
Word! 😎
He seemed to be all about LL's until he got shit-faced and stumbled around the beer tent with his pubes hanging out and was "unwelcomed" from the event.
He is right though about life being really expensive right now. It's not unique to amateur motocross and as a reminder nobody is required to race LL qualifiers. Plenty of healthy local motocross and off-road racing for those that want to enjoy the grass roots. Also plenty of other national level events across the country that aren't tied to LL's if you want to check out better competition. But if you want to make a run at a national championship, well yeah that's going to cost more. How much more is completely your choice.
you have always had to pay to play in this sport, but its still relatively cheap compared to other sports or activities.
That’s exactly the problem that many motorsports have become. The pits may be full of Toterhomes and Stackers, but when the average Joe’s stop showing up with a bike in the back of their 10 year old pick up truck or a race car on a 20 year old open trailer you really have to start thinking about the long term health. We won’t have a sport if the average plumber, carpenter, etc isn’t able to afford to ride and race.
Completely wrong there. Moto families with the huge rigs aren't living paycheck to paycheck, they're living 2nd mortgage to 2nd mortgage. lol
