Saying he's a has-been seems harsh. If, and thats a big "if", he came back for indoors and outdoors healthy for the next two years your saying he could not win at all cause he is all washed up? Really? I'm not a big fan by any means but i think he would still be top three ( barring crashes) everytime out.

I think we all love to watch him race, but if he doesn't race, life goes on and the racing is still all good. James will come back when he's ready.

There was nothing disappointing about the 2010 supercross season.

I think the hate for Stewart these days is really because everyone wants to see the best rider in the world doing what he does best, racing. Look at all the support Reed has now by coming back to summer racing. It's hard for people to understand how you wouldnt want to cement your legacy in your given sport by doing everything possible. He's gonna be a legend but will never be in that elite unless he starts racing the Nats again. As far as the people who call him as has been they are crazy. He would put a whupping on everyone outdoors even RV

I just get a kick out of the way people bash the guy when the fact is that not one of us knows the first thing about him.

I was down on him after the first Bubba's World, but after watching all of the episodes I've become an even bigger fan. The guy had no childhood. His entire life from day one has been spent on a motorcycle. So what if he wants to take some time and blow off some steam? Eric Sorby said they did more in the weekend they spent in Orlando than James has done in his entire life combined. He doesn't owe anyone anything. And I haven't really seen a whole lot of people bash Reed or Windham for taking all that time off outdoors. And nobody is bagging on RV after he's crashed himself out of two straight title fights.

And anyone who thinks Stewart is a has been is kidding themselves.
I'm thinking I have to agree with most of what you said LastCall. I also think if he is going to miss the first few rounds of the nats and comes back and kills it what does he really gain? Some respect, yeah some admiration from his peers for coming back from that injury, yeah. But yet most people on this board will talk shit and say, he didn't win the championship or RV wasn't there so it doesn't matter. People will bitch about the kid either way, he has proven his speed on the big bike RV hasn't, nor has any of the new kids that will be coming up besides Canard in SX. So let's see what happens when we have a healthy stewart and crew before we jump to a conclusion.

I agree but he brings on a lot of the other BS on himself. I mean, a reality TV show, I'm sorry but you reap what you sew with that one.. but aside from that, there seemed to be a big difference a couple of months ago between what he was saying and what Larry was saying. On DMXS (correct me if i'm wrong), he said in a round about way he would be riding the nationals. That's pretty massive. So of course that stirs the bull shit pot again. As a fan, I'd like to see him on a straight up factory team. No ifs or buts, FULL season! If he resigned to L&M supercross only I'd be very confused!

But those Twitters sound interesting! Fingers crossed!

You guys are some pretty big a-holes calling him out.

You say that he needs to ride the nationals or his career will not be remembered as well, yet he is taking all the necessary precautions to let it heal completely so that his career will last longer.

You say you want to watch him race because it makes the nationals more enjoyable, yet most of you would be cheering for anyone else who can give him a challenge outdoors. If he wins, it's boring because its expected. If anyone makes it a race, most people will be cheering for the other guy to take it to Stewart. Even after going 24-0 in his last season outdoors, he can't win.

Just let him be already.
The middle paragraph in TriRacer's post is where I think I differ from the rest of the monkeys swinging around in this tree... I want to see him out there even if he spanks the crap out of everybody... I used to love watching the first half of RC's motos even when he was dominanting because even though nobody could run with him most of the time he would be picking it up and laying it down and flat hauling ass! And the thing about James IMHO is that he is stylish on top of being mega fast.... I'd pay to watch James all by himself WFO it around Red Bud any day of the week... that is why I want him to ride.

Depends on how you look at it. Seems to me he is saying he won't come back early from the injury if it is still messed up but if it is good then he will come back without prepping.

What a wus. Doesnt want to risk the rest of his career to make some keyboard warriors happy? He's probably faking, I am sure everyone on the board knows much more about his injury than his doctor.Dry Everyone is racing for 2nd when he starts lining up again

I'm all too familiar with avascular necrosis, I had it in my right hip after breaking it and at the old age of 27 had to have a total hip replacement. I broke my left ankle twice (all three bones) and have avascular necrosis in my ankle joint. They want to fuse it now but I'm only 34 and want to try and get as many years out of it as I can. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens with James....hopefully he races again.
DrSweden wrote:
Holy crap man. You ride with that hip?
Yeah, I still ride 2-3 times a week and race once a month or so. I have it looked at a couple of times a year just to make sure its holding up and I havent had any problems with it yet....thankfully. 20-30 years ago I probably would've worn that thing out in about 5 years, but they are saying you can get up to 30 years or more with the new materials they use now. I've crashed a bunch of times with it and its held up so far.

You guys who are comparing Bubba's wrist injury to Rick Johnson's wrist injury are a little off. RJ broke his right wrist and ended up getting it fused up a little bit. Bubba broke his left wrist (according to the awesome TWMX video) and even if he had that wrist completely fused, he would still win every race he wanted to.

Hey ridge, your a little off. Do not confuse opinions with facts. If you break a wrist and have it fused it is next to impossible to hold on. Saying he would still win means nothing more to me than you pulling another one of his pubic hairs out of your teeth.
Hey Skippy, I was wrong about which wrist he broke because I was going by the TWMX video. If it was his left wrist it wouldn't be as big of a problem if it was fused.

As for pulling pubes from my teeth, if you ever paid attention to my posts you would know that I'm not a big fan of Bubba, but I know what it takes to ride a motorcycle at speed and he figured it out better than anyone else ever has. So I show respect, which is something you're probably too cool for.

Does anyone have any info on 7 and his plans for the summer?

NFM
Dan's a big RV fan. Fine enough, but the fanboy support for one rider by bashing another happens a lot here and it's stupid.

Any time any one of the top riders is in a race it's better for the fans. Any of the top riders. How anyone who counts himself a fan of motocross could not be stoked having Stewart in the mix is beyond comprehension.

Damn thats dedication! I'll tell that to my mates that say they cant ride or skate anymore 'because of their knees'! (Even though they've never blown them out!).
