Whether it be or not, I did hear one time that the contracted factory riders have to get the OK, from their factory sponsors or something of that nature for mxdn, and I'm sure there is negotiations in there for what each factory team will bring. Honda is running a tight ship, jo is riding amazing, they may want him to focus on AMA mx/sx. Just my angle, not saying it's true or false.

Why is it fair for him to get chosen over any of those three if they are the best riders competing in the country they will represent? Jo doesn’t compete in their domestic series in Japan or the world championship for the federation for which the MXON is affiliated.

so the lawrences shouldn't get chosen because they don't race the Aus national championship?

That'd sure make it easier for the rest of us wouldn't it.  Huntah bros and that Webster cat who led Red Budd are gonna be tough to fricken beat.

As Don said you're confusing affiliation with sanctioning. You are correct that in order to race in an FIM sanctioned event you must hold a license from an FIM affiliated federation. You are correct that the FIM recognized the AMA as the affiliated federation for the United States. However, that is the AMA in Pickerington, Ohio. The AMA long ago sold the pro motocross series rights (and others) in the US to AMA Pro Racing in Daytona, Florida, who then sold it to Daytona Motorsports Group, also in Daytona, Florida, who leases it to MX Sports who in turn uses AMA Pro Racing (Daytona, not Pickerington) to officiate the series.

The FIM has absolutely zero authority over AMA Pro Racing, Daytona Motorsports Group, or MX Sports.

The AMA and AMA Pro Racing are two totally separate entities, completely independent of one another.

AMA Pro Racing is not an FIM affiliate and does not issue international licenses.

The AMA is an FIM affiliate and issues international licenses and puts together teams for the ISDE, MXoN, etc.

Other than issuing licenses and putting together teams to participate in FIM events the AMA (and the FIM) has nothing to do with pro motocross racing in the US. The Pro Motocross Championship has its own rules, regulations and enforcement policies.

The FIM does not sanction and does not have any other kind of authority over pro motocross racing in the US.

you say so !!!!!!

But the AMAproracing site says exactly the opposite...to be eligible for any kind of lincese from AMAP, one of the must have is to hold a valid and active AMA membership in good standing......1.2.15 a. 1. ii

and to be eligible for a pro lincense from AMAP to race promotocross...... in addiction to the requirements listed in section 1.2.15, AMA Pro Motocross Rider license applicants must meet one of the following requirements: held an FIM MXGP license' in at least one of the preceding three seasons....1.8.2 c.1.ii.

international riders must hold a current FIM International Motocross license, issued by the rider's home federation, to be eligible to compete with a start permission..... 1.8.2.d.3.

with just this little search in the AMAproracing rulebook its clear the connection between FIM, AMA and AMAproracing, in witch AMA is affiliated to FIM and AMAproracing to AMA.....

so since it either you, and DonM,  or the  AMAproracing rulebook.....all i can say is that i am sorry i have ever dought you, i swear i will never di it  again.........

You are like the fourth person to ask that. As was the answer to those people: No one said that, no one said anyone cannot race for anyone. What I said (again) is maybe the people that decide Japans team think it’s more fair to have the team be riders that ride in their own domestic series (if these people even do). IF the people that decide the Australian team also had the same idea then yes that would exclude the Lawrence brothers.

it was just a possible theory as to why maybe Jo isn’t in. I didn’t say I thought it was the correct policy or that I agree with it. I think if it is the policy it’s stupid. You send your best riders

Jo said no. Watch his interview with Lewis from Millville press day and Jo said he was asked mid-SX season and didn’t think he’d be the best pick at the time.

I’ve literally replied to about 10 people explaining what I meant and clarifying that I do not think it should prevent him OR the bloody Lawrence brothers Grinning You can ask why something is or is not fair without it meaning you agree with it.

I do think people need to look at the depth of the decision. I have no idea how healthy the sport is in Japan, or how well attended its domestic series is. The lack of decent riders that reside in the country succeeding on the world stage would tell me that it’s not great. Again, zero knowledge of it.

The point being, IF you follow the world motocross and the Japanese domestic series you may want to see your favourite riders from your domestic series take on the riders from the rest of the world in an event representing your own country.

Believe it or not there are a lot of people in the world that don’t follow the US domestic championship, so maybe don’t really know Jo.

The original post made the surprising revelation he is not on the team. I offered a perspective for maybe why. If I think it (I don’t) or not, who cares?

Oh and the post above mine someone said Jo doesn’t think he is the best rider to represent his country, so there is that.

They could be a reason, but it’s way down the list of probable reasons.  Far and away most likely is that Jo couldn’t make it for some reason (or otherwise declined).  Less likely but still more likely than your theory is that HRC couldn’t/wouldn’t send him.

you say so !!!!!!

Either you’re a troll, there’s a language barrier at play, or you’ve hit your head one too many times.

This hurt to read. Jo said no because they asked him mid supercross and he was hurt.

You’ve got to be just trolling at this point. Japan asked him he said no. Not because Japan wants to be fair. They want their best guy, and Jo is that. Now they will settle for back of the pack b main without him

They could be a reason, but it’s way down the list of probable reasons.  Far and away most likely is that Jo couldn’t make it for some reason (or otherwise declined).  Less likely but still more likely than your theory is that HRC couldn’t/wouldn’t send him.

Totally agree. Also never said I thought it was why, it was just a possible option and I also see why the local riders may think it unfair him getting chosen. I’m absolutely sure he is or was their first choice. They’d be mad not pick him.

What the fuck, how can you say no i'm hurt in march for an event in october ? Jo are you for real ? He is at best form right now so that's sound like a lame excuse.

You should actually know the reason why Jo isn’t on the team before you speculate. Cause your whole question is moot if Jo wasn’t able to go this year for personal reasons.

NO JO at the end of the moto...

Wouldn't the "sickest shit" be winning an overall every once in a while, maybe someday in a distant future that could lead to a (japanese) championship?

As of now, I can see why he's not on the national team.

🤣

Still, he does nice useless wheelings at the training track to post on Insta. Kudos!

👍🏻
