Man I’m really stoked for Ty, third weekend on that bike Mitch has to be happy. Fastest qualifier, 8th and 6th is solid and I think he will continue to be better. Really hope he can continue to improve and lock something in with Mitch I guess the biggest question for that will be to build speed in supercross. And for anyone that reckons he isn’t doing well is a peanut, coming back to that 250 class on a factory kawi after having it for 3 weeks with how competitive the class is, is impressive what he’s shown so far. also don’t think Seth and Cameron would be doing any better then him at the moment so holding his own!
Edit: man one week after I make this post takes the overall!! Stoked for TY, his family and Mitch! Hell yeah!
Impressive for sure but i still say kawi screwed up and shoulda offered him a big bike spot first.
He’s riding great, and will only get better as the summer goes on.
Mitch should offer him a outdoor only contract. He doesn’t seem to be stellar in SX but man he deserves a spot for MX.
Top 10 in 4 out of 6 motos
2 top 10s overall
1 fastest qualifier.
I think if you asked Mitch before signing him if he’d be happy with these results through this point; he’d say yes.
He’s also much better on tracks with ruts. He hasn’t even touched one of those yet. And he kills at Red bud. I'm excited.
I am curious, though, what does everyone think he has to do this season to earn a factory ride next year? Is it even possible?

That’s what I was thinking can’t wait for red bud always does well there. I think if he can put it on the box, keep it around the top 5 and say get another fastest qualifier or two, as the old saying “we can work with speed” will create a serious conversation with Mitch and Kawi to do something
Supercross is the issue.....He will need to show them he can do it at a world class level like he can outside
Man if Ty could be a contender in SX he would for sure have a factory ride. MXGP would be an interesting option.
Sooo stoked for Ty, hopefully he can grab a few podiums by the end of the year. A shot at SMX would be really good too.
MXGP would be a amazing place for him. Hes 20 i think so hes still eligible for the 250 class. Think he’d be top 5 over there.
He’s like 23-24
All roads lead to Redbud 😎
He’s 22 turns 23 in November
"I am curious, though, what does everyone think he has to do this season to earn a factory ride next year? Is it even possible? "
I'd say he just needs to hang around, keep it on two wheels, and keep the solid results going. Seems PC always has a bike or two not being used.
It's already been talked about here.....He was barely making mains in SX. If he can convince a Team he can ride SX at a Factory level, he would have the ride. The way to convince them is to show them even if at the test track.
He needs to get out of Texas and learn Supercross here in Socal with all the fast guys if he wants a chance at a factory ride unfortunately that's what the team cares about!
So stoked for Ty and his family.
I’m thinking he’ll continue to make progress and land himself a solid full-time gig for 2025.
Think he is still a better 450 rider but he is doing great.
I’ve personally seen his SX tracks. They are the same spec and gnarlier sometimes than the west coast ones. I’ve also seen him ride those fairly well. He even had decent qualifying times this year on his 450 at a couple of rounds. He has fast guys come and ride there too, so he’s obviously worked to improve it the last year or so extra hard. It’s the race craft and confidence he’s lacking in SX. He needs consistent reps.
The next step is if Mitch or another team manager thinks there is a foundation to build on, they can get him out to ride with the rest of the factory level people in the pre season. It isn’t that Ty won’t go ride with faster people, he just did it for the last 3 weeks in California, its that he isn’t going to go into the red on his own dime to go to California for months on end.
I still don’t think he’s going to work into a consistent SX podium guy, but I do think he could get to a consistent top 10 guy indoors and eventually compete for race wins outdoors with a few years of stability.
Pit Row
Shhhh! You're giving away my Vital Fantasy secret weapon!
I'm not arguing he doesn't need to improve in sx a lot. But paint the real picture. He was barely making mains on a 450. We're talking about him getting 250 ride. And he came into the season off an injury
Yes he was testing here in California because he's being paid sometimes you need to invest in yourself on the Super Cross side plenty of other privateers do it but maybe they don't have the baggage🤷♂️ not hating on the kid just wish he had the best opportunities available to him😊
PS I know you're a super fan and ride the facility LOL👍
Ok, let's paint the real picture......name another factory 250 rider he is anywhere close to in SX. I think it's great he is getting a shot and hope he can figure it out, but him getting a factory deal with his SX results make no sense.....but maybe he can take page out of Vialle's book and put his head down and figure it out
From a team’s perspective, what looks better?
Top 10s on a factory 250 team or a top 10s on a privateer 450 bike?
Curious if he would’ve had similar results this year in the 450 class as the field is a bit deeper. Will his outdoor results get him a ride next year? Will he need a moto win or two to seal the deal?
It’s cool to hear his perspective of the bike in comparison to the privateer 450. He seems to have a bigger ceiling with how much he can push in motos on the PC bike and factory suspension or at least he says he does in interviews.
Not really apples to apples since we don't have any recent 250 SX results to base off of. I think he'd be a top 15 guy in SX off the bat on a PC bike, depending which coast he races.
I love SX as much as anyone, but it sux to see guys with so much potential outdoors, struggle to get decent rides because they’re not so hot indoors.
Goes to show how much SX rules the roost, despite MX being the core of the sport.
What a sweet friggin shot.
The irony of Will’s extended input about Kitchen’s lack of testing time and set up bla bla bla (let’s not comment on the pass coming up) as Ty blows by him and gaps him in half a lap. WITHOUT A MENTION!
Sorry how much seat time has Ty had? They couldn’t even retract her pre-made bs story to mention it. So fkng scripted this broadcast. Anywho. Loving outdoors.
Barely making mains in 450 SX sounds a lot like making mains in 450 SX. Now split that class in half and have half of them crash their brains out and where does that leave masterpool? Go look at the top 10 in points in both 250 SX series this past year and I don't have much trouble seeing him run with a lot of those guys. Lot of them aren't making 450 mains either.
unfortunately its only like tht because of the revenue tht SX brings , ur casual fan is more likely to attend an event in a stadium on a Saturday night then a event of locations half of them in the middle of nowhere on Saturday hot afternoon during the summer , therefore the big manufacture teams putting more emphasis in ur sx skills , imo it should based on equal skillset , which I like how Jeremy Coker put it , coop & Eli is their sx guys while j coop was there Mx , nonetheless I still stand on ty should’ve been on AC’s bike for the summer instead of having broc just popping in for a race or 2
