I find it hilarious. David Bailey would probably shit himself if he ever met that family. Then type a blog about the current state of the sport.

They were pitted next to us at Ponca and they are a super nice family and the kid was actually really fast. He was getting good starts and running with the front pack for awhile which included AC and the top 12-13 guys. I would agree that the pit setup is a little much with the rig and all but who wouldn't want that if you could have it.

At least he didn't say something like "if the kid doesn't win, we don't eat"...
True, but this is my bitch with Amateur racing. So the parents pour money into the kid for his racing. Now if the parents are only putting in a percentage of savings/earnings to do this, this is all moot. Cool, Right on. I wish I could participate that way.

The difference and more of reality is, if the parents are pouring in what could be education dollars for the kid. He could become whatever he wants three times over. That would be a success. The chances this kid or any other kid like him gets to sit on the line at a National or SX race, the odds are hundreds to one. Now the Jones Family next door see this and mortgage the house to keep up with these guys. Now we have 80-120 clones of this at a weekend amateur race. The worst part of this is: little Johnny augers in. Has the Leatt, chest protector all the safety goods but still ruins himself by 17. All the money put into this for what? Family togetherness? Who will pay for the extensive medical bills after the insurance runs out?

Seems to be a growing reality of the past decade.

What do you mean? It seems they have the means and are making it happen for their kid. Now if they have 6 mortgages on their house to support the kid then they are blowing it. If that isn't the case who are we to judge how they spend their money. Should they go buy a $120K Sand Limo and hang out at the dunes?

A giant motor home, mutiple bikes, mechanic, trailer behind the motor home, and all that to me, is blowing money if youre not a top contender at LL. Im not questioning if they have the means or not, I have no idea, I just dont understand why someone would spend so much to get the results they have

Maybe they are in it for the FUN of the sport? You can go to your local track and see a set up like that, maybe sans the mechanic. If you consider it blowing money so be it. I feel the same way but people blow money on all kinds of stuff that I wouldn't drop a dime on and I try not to judge them.
Who are we to judge how someone spends their money? If they have it, and they enjoy the sport, why not?
People blow money on all sorts of things that other people may deem a waste, but to each his own. It does not hurt anyone else, if anything it helps our sport with them spending money and giving people jobs.
As long as the kid is doing it because he wants to ride/ race and it is not a Allesi type deal with the Dad forcing the kid to ride.
I am all for anything that keeps the family together and keeps the kids focused on something and out of trouble.
But that Dad looks more like his brother than his father! Good for them to be able to have a dream and enjoy the sport together.

I just think it's funny when you got a rig and multiple bikes like that and no custom graphics or nothing and stock gear and nothing to look different from any other rider. If it was me I'd have one less bike and trick out all my others and have custom gear and a couple custom painted helmets and at least have a sweet unique on track image if nothin else to gain some sponsors. I imagine a family like that is a sponsors dream because they'll take their 20 or 30 % discount and buy up tons of stuff at a profit for them too. I'd also get the rig wrapped too, if you're gonna go big might as well look the part lol.

So i guess we should all judge this guy and how he spends his money. Or maybe we should "regulate" it????

you know, you can' only spend 100k on a motorhome, 20k on a tailer, and well only allowed to own 3 bikes as 4 is over the limit.

I agree it's like some that pull up with that kind of rig and pull out two 50cc ktms.

but hey they have to pay for it so it is what it is......................

I am going to be buying a 1998 C class motorhome, with 100k miles, in some circles that is a "big deal"........and in some parts of this country it could be called "home."

I was watching some other videos of the kid. Looks like he has a regular trainer that travels w/him,and Mike Craig works with him too. The kid has a mechanic, a videographer, a photographer and a nutritionalist that all travel with him. His pops is not playing.

On the plus side, at least that family are good for the industry!

At least the actual kid seemed OK. But how do you teach a kid like that the value of the dollar?

Maybe he has to wash one of the bikes or clean an air filter every once in a whileLaughing Seriously tho, there are plenty of rich kids/teens/adults that do understand the value of a dollar.

Another benefit this family brings to the sport is good deals on used bikes when they clean house once in a while.

We purchased my son's 08' YZ125 from a similar family. The young racer want to be (John Pauk) had 7 bikes at the Milsap Training Facility and a wrench that travelled with him when he raced. Every other year he replaces all the bikes and it appears they don't really care what they sell them for! We got a sweet deal on the YZ125.

If you are in the market for a RM85/100 you might want to suck up to these folks the next time you see them.

Those types are a great source for almost new tires too.

Reisenberg, you sound jealous to me. I really don't understand what anyone could have to bitch about with this family. They bring dollars into the sport, they support the industry and they support their kid's dream. Believe it or not, this is America and people can spend their money on anything they want to. My guess is that if Jaissac doesn't make it as a motocross racer, which is likely, he'll work in the family business, go to college, or both. Hell, maybe he'll do all three!

Is having a rig and two bikes for each class necessary? No.
Is it nice? Yes.

I was thinking the same thing. Kids knees are starting to hit the bars. At that point it starts getting dangerous.

Step back and re-read my post please, just to avoid a bit of confusion. I don't want this to come off as an attack on this young man or his family at all! I want to clear that part up. I would hate to have this young rider or his family read this and feel like they were being attacked, I'm not that kind of person.

First and foremost, I straight up said I don't mean to pick on this individual who I know nothing about, I've never seen or met, just simply found it an example of something I wanted to discuss.

Secondly, I straight up said I'm jealous and I question if I would do the same thing for my own son when he's old enough to ride.

Third, I only brought up the results in the first place because it didn't appear they were good enough to get factory support to have all those bikes, which adds to the question of the necessity.

Finally, I wasn't meaning to bitch... I just simply wanted to hear others' opinions. I didn't mention the kid's schooling or personality or talent because I don't know him.

then what was your point?

Big deal... to some i look like that family when i pull up to a small event in a 30' toy hauler... the next event i look like trailer trash...

of course it is not "necessary", so why ask the question?

If a person works at a 9-5 factory job is having a car "necessary"? no, it is not... shall we start a thread about it?

Who cares how others spend THEIR money?

sheesh.

Thats the kind of stuff that was hard to compete w/ when coming up. I thought Justin Keeny was spoiled in 1999 when he showed up to the pac west race in centralia w/ two bikes, and a motor home. My dad used to go snatch the tires out of the garbage when he would throw them away.
All those bikes are a little excessive. IMO they could have two practice bikes and benifit more than 9. All the seetings very a lot from 9 bikes. It seems like it would be hard to advance when you dont feel comfortable on the bikes from that reason. I remember when i really started to rail on my yz250f i never wanted to get rid of it because it became so comfortable.

Class Number Brand Moto 1 Moto 2 Moto 3 Class Finish
85 (12-13) Stock #63 SUZ 30th 32nd DNS 42nd
85 (12-13) Modified #63 SUZ 32nd 19th 31st 29th

I don't know the kid or the family at all, and definitely not meant to be an attack on them at all. Just curious of everyone's thoughts. It has me shaking my head, but then I think, if I could provide my son that when he's old enough to ride, I wonder if I would?
Where did I say they shouldn't be spending the money?

I think the simple answer is no, it's not necessary.

It's been two years since the results that you posted. Any updates? With this kind of support, I would expect top results or I'd pack it in.

"Living through your kid" comes to mind.
I could be wrong but I don't believe that this kid get's much support, other than what his family is able to provide (which looks like a lot) so I don't know why people are so bitter.

BTW: I have never heard of the kid, but the last time I heard there were no laws that kept anyone from doing what ever they could afford to help their child in what ever sport they chose to participate in.

No need to be bitter.
