Who is the winningest mechanic?

Probably goose or albrecht 

Have to think Goose, Albrecht, Skip and Randy Lawrence have to be at the top of the list right?

Either Skip Norfolk or Chad Watts,

Chad was RCs first mechanic. People seem to think that Goose won all these races with him, but he was only with RC for 3 years. 

Didn’t Chad and Ricky split in the middle of the 2003 season? Then Ricky retired in 2007? Either way Chad was an awesome wrench, but no way he has as many wins as Goose. After RC retired, Goose wrenched for Reed, Dungey and then Reed again. Ok Reed at the end was only winning the LCQ, but Dungey had to add a lot of W’s to his resume. 
 

I am gonna say Goose, Albrecht, Norfolk and Brian Lunnis for all times. 

Ok 97-2003.5 was still alot of wins with RC. But Watts didn’t get many before or after RC, where as guys like Goose and Albrecht and Lunnis went to multiple riders and who would get mutiple wins...

I'm not particularly serious about that ( Though, without a doubt, Tony Berluti was / is a Very successful Mechanic / Technician), but thinking of the best mechanic, somehow that bloody earworm by Adam Enticknap came into my head, . Drives me nuts, does that line.

Gotta be Brian Kranz and Carlos Rivera from the new era? 

Mike Williamson with JS7, RV and ET3 would have a few wins.

I didn’t see Dan Bentley’s name mentioned. 

Can not compare today’s mechanics to the box van mechanics that did everything to the bike including rebuilding the motors, suspension and driving 4 days a week. Today’s mechanics are bad dudes, but more or less they just changeing components not rebuilding them. 

Lunis has to be in the mix. Hannah (honda years), RJ, Bradshaw, Kiedrowski. and others

I was thinking Lunis must be on the list as well.

I believe Brian Berry was John Dowds mechanic for his entire career. Even into the post factory ride years. Which was pretty long, that is some serious dedication and devotion. They must be good buddies.

Norfolk brought the glasses. Cool factor through the roof!

Chad won 10 titles with RC and a perfect season. 
 

 Goose only had 1 season with Dungey and he didn’t win much with Reed. 
 

 Goose was a good mechanic, got lucky with RC, he was the only guy available when RC and Chad split. 

Honestly, if we’re talking best overall mechanic/technician, Berluut is definitely one of the best. He never got the recognition, because he never got that championship rider.   

Williamson didn't have ET3, he was moved to a crew chief-style position then. Brian Kranz came over from Geico as Tomac's mechanic when he went to Kawi.

This is so true. You can’t compare these kids working for riders now to the guys back in the day. Back then they literally did everything. Motors suspension and drove the country. These days these kids come straight from mxtech school and get paired with a good rider and just have to keep the bolts tight. It’s all about luck on who your rider is these days. No more proving your self working for peanuts and working your way up. Pc mechanics are the best in the business as they still do all there own race engines and practice / test. 

Jeremy Albrecht won lot races with James. Be hard to top Chad with RC in all categories though. 

He won a lot with Fro too.

Throttle at pc had a heck of a run for a few years. He won titles with Ivan and then all the titles with rv at pc. 

Probably gonna get lynched for this but I always thought it was dumb for mechanics to count wins as if they were theirs. They don’t do shit other than their job and it’s all based on luck and what rider you get assigned or build a relationship with.
They all do the same thing. 
It’s 100% on the rider. 

Finally

This is a good question for the curious and I don't have an answer but it would be great if someone were to do some number crunching.

So if he wasn’t Jett’s mechanic, would you have posted this? Who was Jett’s mechanic before this guy? Could we say that this mechanic is the sole reason for Jett’s success?

So if you count wins and championships as winning, you should also total up mechanical failures (blown shocks, blown engines, stuck throttles etc.)

But then what about things like fried clutches, engines overheating, or blown head gaskets? Who gets that 'L"

Shimoda fried a clutch on lap 1, Deegan killed a motor in MX last year, Barcia and Deegan ride the rev limiter for 30+2 ? Webb & Ferandis complained all last summer about their suspension and feel of their bikes, who gets that "L", the rider or mechanic ?

They ain't just tightening bolts and cleaning filters.....

But they also are not making suspension changes or building the engines. Most of them have zero input on what changes to make
