My largest takeaway is this. When you look at a sport from the outside in, the easiest and best access you have is your TV. This is the front line or glitz of the sport. Our sport is glitzed with a production that is pure embarrassing. If that is our best foot forward and best effort to make our sport look appealing and attractive I am at a loss.
Week after week it is the same dumb mistakes over and over. They may have some “TV/production” backgrounds, but they lack the common sense to do the obvious. Focus on the racing and laps, then build around that. These guys should have been fired a long time ago and we should be trying to present a cleaner presentation that is actually polished. Fifteen plus years of the exact same presentation with slight (not good) graphic adjustments and a dumb drone camera INSIDE of a stadium that doesn’t allow you to focus on what is happening in the race. You’re too busy following the stupid thing around to see what is actually happening.
I yield my time until this weekend
We are 14 rounds in and yet to have a “perfect night”. The 3 things imo that would make a perfect night is , good track, good racing and a good broadcast. It seems like they would get it all right at least 1 time as they all get paid very well and are supposed to be professionals.
But nope. If it’s a good race. We gets views of the crowd. If it’s a special event like an east west shoot out we get a shit track. It’s always something.
for the love of god just for once bring it all together and give us a total package. I get you can’t control race outcome but at least nail the other two and hope you get some close racing.
The higher ups don't care about the racing. They care about the paid ad slots and numbers on a screen. And their philosophy is "story equals attention". What they don't understand is to us, the racing IS the story. It's a show to them and an event to us.
Where is that picture of Bondo in the studio watching 2 of the same screen? I need to save that to my computer.

450 let’s cue more interviews and split screens to not follow fast laps.
I can’t believe I am going to say this, we didn’t get to see a SINGLE entire fast lap from a rider. They cut in and out of every single one of them. They started with Justin Cooper on a fast lap finally at the 2:30 mark and then cut away and went to Jett.
How can you not capture 1 single fast lap in its entirety? That is what they are supposed to be doing correct? Not ONE
Just quit watching it.
Why? Love the sport... heres the thing. They pay attention to this crazy site. So if enough people show displeasure over the atrocious effort from the TV crew they eventually will change things. Changes need to be made, this is supposed to showcase our sport instead we have a truly awful and embarrassing product that looks like it is put on by the high school freshman squad.
That’s not the purpose of Race Day Live, like it or not.
As soon as MX/SX draws big enough numbers to warrant criticism, you are going to have to live with what we have.
I'm surprised this is still up, Guy B would have 86ed it long ago.
Are you better now?
Here we stand at the end of A qualifying and we have seen a total of 1 entirety of a fast lap and that was Jett at the very end. Then, as factory riders are STILL putting fast laps in our lovely production crew gives up and just shows riders per usual rolling around. Hunter puts a banger in and nobody is even aware. Ineptitude at its finest
I agree with you on everything. They are not l going to change though. They are more concerned with story time.
It's simply not possible that Feld cares about the fact that there is a motorsports race happening in the stadium. Their only priority is to profit off of the show. It's not possible that they see an issue with what's going on. Numbers must be up, that's all they're seeing, and all they care about. No other possibility here.
You sucked again buddy!
Thanks if I wanted to hear the Spanish broadcast I'd watch the Spanish broadcast. Such a fail with this crap not a single soul likes it. Get bent.
Ok I’ll play. Please don’t show the start replay picture in picture, with the live on the smallest box, early in the race. At least 5 minutes in, when there is an opportunity. We got to see Webb pass Tomac in the tiny box live in the early stages of the race.
And the Ando pass on Tomac was missed and had to be found and replayed.
Bondo has to be someone high up’s useless son or nephew. He’s a favour for someone. Guys got an extra chromosome.
Pit Row
Yesterday was my wife’s first race of the year. She said Wils voice is like nails on a chalk board.
She also said Weeg and a Stewy did a good job, but RC sounds very uneducated.
I just had to say this thread is pure gold lol. It's great we have a place to come complain about all the dumb shit that happens during the broadcast. I guess I'm just more "it is what it is" and don't really give a shit. Yes, I do share many of the same complaints and criticism as most of you do but to be honest it really doesn't take away from my overall enjoyment of the racing enough to get to upset over. I grew up in the Bailey/Eckman days when they taped the races and dubbed in the commentary so they had time to review the race and production but it really sucked because they would show the race days later at like 5am so you had to set up your VHS system to record it on tape to watch. They even had the damn races split so on Monday you might have the 125's then Wednesday you'd get the 250's. It was always days later and usually split up. Now we get SX & MX all completely live in the moment and IMO the price for Peacock is an absolute bargain just to have live racing even with all the broadcasting issues.
My biggest complaint and the only thing that truly bothers me is having Dan Hubbard during RDL and the whole premise of trying to produce the show in a manner for new viewers who don't know about the sport. Trust me....NOBODY is watching RDL unless you are a true hardcore fan. Back in the day we never got to see SX qualifying on TV, you just watched the recorded heats & mains. To me the day isn't complete without watching timed qualifying. If I miss a RDL (which is incredibly rare) then I just feel off when it comes to the main race. I would be x1000 times happier if they got rid of Hubbard for someone like Weege and tailored the production to the hardcore fans who are the ones actually watching RDL. More interviews with mechanics, in the pits, more behind the scenes stuff of what goes on at the rigs, what riders are doing between practices/qualifying. How the bikes are setup for each race, interview more riders instead of just the same top guys giving cut & paste answers to the same cut & paste questions. Ask these guys about what they did during the week, how they prepared, what they ate/drank, what training they did. Show us some clips of them during the week practicing at the training compound or out at Glen Helen or wherever they go.
Just my $0.02.
I swear she almost passed out after her segment at the gate. When she got done talking her eyes went wonky and one was closed one was open. Looked like she had a mini stroke. She literally doesn't breathe in her segments and talks for 2 minutes straight. It would actually be impressive if her voice wasn't so fkn annoying.
Now i think back, this os accurate and hilarious.
did we cover how in the LCQ they gargled justin cooper's balls for 3 laps straight while passes were happening for the last txfer spot and then they cut to it at the VERY END and acted like the battle had just started?
man, as much as I love weege, he was struggling during the LCQ
So this thread got brought up on the pulp show and when it was brought to ML’s attention he something along the lines of I’m not gaslighting my forum members, the broadcast isn’t good. Props to ML you know he has gotten some shit for leaving this up.
around what time did they talk about the broadcast on pulp?
I think it was during the xbrand segment.
Soul Indigo summed it up perfectly,
. It's a show to them and an event to us.
We are back for another weekend of How Bad I Suck At My Job.
Applause for doubling down on the interviews for zero reason during qualifying. I will give some credit, it would “appear” they pay attention to either this board or Matthes show because they found more actual fast laps from the riders but they still decide to throw any one food forward with interview after interview and then screwing up any laps to watch. Instead someone rolling around is shown. Per usual we have our typical complaints so I wonder if it was a fluke they got a hair better on RDL this week. Up to Bondo now
Ok i know its an LCQ and the broadcast has been OK tonight aside from RC just being terrible...BUT.. i promise you no one cares about Sanford crossing the finish line when theres a 5 way battle for the last transfer spot ffs
