I believe in 2002 salt lake had some snow - very little though

Good thing its next wkd. Western Mass here...major blizzard now. White out with foot of snow.

Dam a foot we only got aprox 6 in a lot of wind tho.  The power is knocked out for a big area .  For a few days.  I had no heat in the trk Oct to Feb.  Take niacin it heats your body up & 2 sleeping bags. Get great sleep without freezing then. I,m super weird on sleeping I hv to hv it hot or warm at least.

It was a joke since every round of open air stadiums there was a thread. But thats not what my weather is showing.

I used to live about 15 minutes from the Stadium( about 45 now). And happened to go for a ride back to my hometown yesterday.   Just like where I live now, its all very wet. And we have some snow in the forecast. The stadium is a little more inland and north than I am now so they would get more of it. Last I heard it was only supposed to be a dusting. How insane would that be if there was a  snowstorm during the race?

Hopefully they have the dirt covered up though. I happen to have a customer who will be coming in this week, that works for Dirtworks when they are in the area. I'll ask him about the dirt.   Back years ago when they came back to Foxborough they had a deal to lease the dirt and that the company would also store the dirt between races. I don't know if that has changed or not.  I hope that somehow things dry up between now and then.

Who did they lease the dirt from last time, a garbage dump? I did a track walk last time it came to Gillette and the dirt...

Who did they lease the dirt from last time, a garbage dump? I did a track walk last time it came to Gillette and the dirt was the worst I’ve ever seen on a track. I saw chicken wire poking out of the dirt!

It was one of the LaRusso materials yards.  I think the one in Walpole MA.  One of the owners sons used to have a pretty nice track in the back of the pit, until somebody got hurt there.  It was years ago when I heard about it so I'm not totally sure on which yard. The LaRusso family is all into construction in the area. As far as I know not related to the Tony LaRusso that raced  and owns NHMX. Three different  companies with yards, and multiple developers.

When I was working in construction, we got some of the dark gray material that looked similar to what was on some of the track. It was silt that was dredged from the retention ponds that held water used for washing the stone while and after crushing. Superfine stone dust maybe a little organic material mixed in .It was like clay when wet , but abrasive like sand.  If they mixed it with other materials it might be good, no rocks at all .

The trash could have been mixed in while it was stored or from the Monster trucks.

Just checked the forecast in Foxboro for Saturday, high 55 low 41, 15% chance of precip. Gonna be a little chilly but most likely looks like no blizzard or even wet conditions.

Accuweather today shows 71% Wednesday, 91% Thursday, 94% Friday and 74% Saturday.

Wet dirt to build the track with again….

Not sure what we’re going to get.  The track crew did a nice job on the last one.

Saturday looks much better now than it did a couple days ago...  Only significant rain is Friday, about an inch.  Covered track and no press day riding and we should have a great track on Saturday night.

Looks like it might get down into low 40’s Saturday night.  Cold air at sea level and the bikes will be barking.

Does Dirt Wurx use pumps in the event of rain? I always see the tracks have huge mud puddles in places of runoff even if the track has been protected. It seems like they could pump the excess water out of the stadium during rain events and minimize the amount of water anywhere on the floor. Maybe they do that already.

That created a really cool look with the snow falling....didn't Windham win a race that was later in the season in Utah with snow?

They do use pumps when necessary. Some stadiums are more strict about where that water goes though. I believe it was San Fran this year that the wash bays were in an inconvenient spot but it was the only place to put them to control the dirty water runoff.

Looks like they're using the roller again. I hope they use that thing all the time from now on.

Forecast looks decent, lots of rain Thursday night and Friday but tapering off Friday afternoon and sunny Saturday!

Hoping for decent weather not just because we don't need another damn muddy/wet race but the track map looks kinda cool for this round. I hate when they have to make the changes taming down all the jumps especially removing whoops that's just blasphemy.
