As per the PulpMX St. Louis review show, apparently KTM is unimpressed with Julien's performance this year and "needs to do better".

Isn't that wild? They bump this dude up to the pro ranks earlier than planned and are already ready to write him off halfway through SX. Strangest team ever. I thought JuJu has shown a lot of promise so far this year. What do they expect?

Seems like the talon hawkins situation all over again. This sucks. I know KTM takes stuff serious but at what point are they taking it too serious, like with the pressure on rookies. They are rookies, they are learning, let them grow, not just spit them out after a below average rookie year. No one will have a similar rookie year to deegan in my opinion, expectations should never be based on that.

I feel like they barely gave him a shot if that’s true, he’s got potential but he’s still developing!

Has KTM group ever promoted an amateur that went on to win a 250 title?

This can't be true. I think he's been dang good for a rookie. KTM team showing their bad image again if this is true. And I'm a KTM owner.

It is strange. It's like when they injected Max Vohland into SX early when their family had a pretty solid plan of how he was going to enter the pro ranks and cut then cord on him. Or like a previous member said, Hawkins was pulled into Pro SX way earlier than planned and then cut from the team a year later.

Hawkins was on Husky tho? Seems like they are more "lenient" over at the Gasgas and Husky rigs. KTM is as hardcore corporate as you can get.

Their 250 program is a train wreck from the team side and this is exactly why. They have had good riders but totally mishandle their careers early and kick them to the curb after a season or two. It’s a wonder why any top amateur rider would even try to go pro with them

Should let AEO be their 250 team and give them factory support!

If true, it sucks short term, but it might be best for his career to get off that bike. Other than Vialle, nobody since Marvin has had much success. Unless I'm missing someone...

His ride at A1 should have been enough of a "ok this kid could be legit" to stay under the tent for next year.

PC, Star, Club....plenty of other teams who know how to run a decent 250 team will not let this kid go unsigned.

I think any other team would gladly pick up his salary to have him for the future

KTM as a motorcycle manufacturer are great.

KTM as a team are short sighted idiots.

There's a whole list of examples like this, and practically every time the guy in question has been doing good/great given their circumstances.

Baffling, the list of riders in the pipeline is not very long. I think he’s doing great.

I get it’s a different team, but how has P Brown been kept for so long? I feel like he hasn’t delivered anything. I want him to do well.

It’s a KTM problem, not a team problem. Look at how many riders were kicked loose early when TLD ran the team (Drake, Cantrell, Oldenberg, Smith and a few others). Now with GasGas, I think they're letting Troy have a lot more autonomy, which to bens’ point, is probably why Brown has been there through all his ups and downs.

As stated in the Toby Price thread.

Its not hard to dislike KTM.

Ktm doing shit like this makes me want to sell my Ktm and support a different manufacturer.

Hopefully this is sarcasm? If not a bit over the top.  As much as I respect pro guys I’m not going to let their hiring and firing dictate what I ride and race on a weekend 😂.

I support folks spending their money on brands who they back in principal.  If you’re going to give someone $10k+, it might as well be someone with values aligned with yours.

I never saw why he was going to be the 'next big thing'.

But to be fair to him, he is one of a ton of underperforming 250 riders, who cant break top 5 in half a class,

This is why 250 needs to be one series, along with 450 , and 'futures' needs to be East / West.

There arent enough good riders, and teams are pissing money away on guys that cant even last a race distance.

observeroffacts This is exactly how I feel. When I spend my hard earned money. I like to know the business or company is on the up and up. Or I’d at least hope so. Like you said values….

In regards to rookies, I think it's important to note that there are alot of 250 guys that have been in the class for a long time. It's not like it was 10-15 years ago when guys were out of the class in 5 years; now there's guys who basically spend their entire career there. To expect rookies to compete with that seems unfair. And if KTM doesn't want to spend the time and resources to develope them, then why hire them in the first place? Why not sign guys that already have a few years under their belt?

I wouldn't say he's underperforming. There are 6 former race winners 5 of which are championship caliber contenders in the class. He was in B class last year, give him a break. If he finishes Top 5, that's a successful rookie season.

I don’t get how they keep chopping off these promising rookies but keep signing RJ to get mopped up by another teenager year after year, and that’s coming from an RJ fan.

I agree.

With the exception of Kitchen and Vialle, there's really not a lot going on in the 250's at present.

Other than the usual guys who have entrenched themselves in the class for far too long.

Beaumer's one of the few showing potential.

And this is the result ???

🤔

That seemed like such a slap in the face. Kailub seemed invaluable to the offroad side of KTM
