I did hear a rumor that this guy was his inspiration on how to leave the sport. Not sure it is true....

You don’t think all the chupacabra fans that bought BB4 apparel and supported him for years don’t at the very least deserve a PR statement?

So a professional athlete that you’ve never met owes you an explanation about his life choices?

I certainly don't think he owes anyone an explanation and I don't think fans 'deserve' one.

I do, however, think it's kind of the decent thing to do when you're a man who has been admired, supported and even partially funded by many people over the years in a community centred around the sport of motocross, the least you could do is fire out even just a quick post on the internet saying "Hey folks, I have retired".

Either way, glad he's good, that pic with his young un on the Stacyc is great to see 👍

No. There was no contract signed between him and his fans.

Now, should he for better PR, future relations, etc. Perhaps. I just don't think anyone "deserves" anything nor does he "owe" them anything.

Fair enough.

I guess I just have more respect/appreciation for others than some.

33 military bases are located In California, including the DEVGRU/Seal Training base in San Diego, and thousands of servicemen and Officers live and retire here, more than any other place in the United States.

Why don't you head in to a bar in Coronado and tell a Navy Seal that he is a "Liberal" for living here, and tell me how it turns out for you.

Do not believe everything you hear on Fox News.

Huntington or Hermosa? I'm visiting Hermosa right now and I can't fault it.

Years later, do we ever know what really happened? 441 Moto YouTube channel put out a Baggett compilation video recently from his time at Butler Bros. Such a shame to lose him from the sport like that.

I just saw Baggett last Sat at Glen Helen, my friends and I were watching a race and I heard a guy ask what moto was on the track I turned and it was him. I asked him if was going to ride again and he kinda said he was getting a bike ready maybe a KTM.

IIRC, his hand/thumb injury was basically hindering how he could ride (like AC’s nerve issues in his arm) and then not getting paid by BBMX basically was the nail in the coffin to call it a career. It's been a while so I may be misremembering but I recall at one point they started to glue/tape/Velcro his bad hand to the bar.

I'm sure it would be great content for both and maybe finally get the full story?

One of the most underrated rides in history is him going 2-2 at southwick in 2017 with the freshly ruined thumb(thanks JA). I was in the pits when he came back from moto 1, and I saw him take his glove off, that thumb/hand was twice the size it should be. I didn’t think he’d even go out for moto 2 but he did and he stayed in the title fight till the bitter end. El chupacabra will always be one of my favorites there was no quit in that guy until the checkers.

I remember Emig saying he is something special and now he can make his kid a hero in the making.

Sounds like he's back in CA, did he sell his place in FL? Also, kinda hard to believe he packed up and just retired over a contract dispute with Forest. Most guys would have looked for another gig I guess it was perfect timing for Blake and he just called it a career.

More to it than that, serious wrist issues were the main reason.

It wasn’t so much of an injury but a ganglion cyst that may have been from a traumatic event but couldn’t heal so it’s not the most fun thing to explain to people.  I also think they backed out and didn’t pay when he couldn’t ride tough industry.

You Sir are right.

Its like a pop star finishing a concert and just disappearing back stage without thanking the crowd for coming. Or imagine Tomac wining Daytona and simply riding back to the pits without the crowd interaction.

its just decent to acknowledge people.

When you are up against some tough competitors off the track sometimes the best you can do is walk away to keep your pride and business going.  There’s only so much you can do or say and might not need to state the obvious.  “Say it aint so Joe” he didn’t cheat but was still banned from baseball.  I am going to go retire now because my wrist is bad is not something you might want to advertise.  There could have been some kind of legal thing we don’t know about where he couldn’t go around making any statements like now they just say “Kawasaki and Moto Braap have parted ways” like if i got caught smoking pot or something.

He’s not that invisible. He was at Anaheim 2 this year with wife and kid at the pits talking to everyone at all the team semis shootin’ the shit. Wonder why no media did an interview? Unless he declined and just wanted to enjoy watching racing and hanging with old friends.

Thats cool if some guys can just go back to being a regular dude who is part of racing, still a fan, has a kid riding, but is not lost in the hype or a victim of their success.

He is getting close to being a full blow mini dad and I love to see it.
