For all of you Pro Taper fans; Turn14 is trying to bring them back asap. They are who purchased Tucker - (Who owned Protaper brand) It should be orderable by late spring. If there are any Turn 14 reps on here, Feel free to chime in, I'm just going off of what my rep told me.

Are they going to be Chinese?
In the wake of the ProTaper buyout / lack of availability, there seems to be tonnes of Chinese "ProTaper" bars on eBay etc.

while on this topic, I want to hear from any other fellow tall guys out there. I just got back into riding not to long ago and have a stock 23 450FC. I am 6'4 and ride it fairly comfortably but wondering if anyone has any tips on bike setup for people who are too tall to be riding?
Run a flatter bar bend (less sweep) and put your clamps as far forward as possible. I bet you'll like that setup better than "high" bend bars.
5' 7" just picked up 821 fat bar for my 250 and 999 for my 125. Both are mcgrath bend. Currently have 672 bend in my 250 do not like them at all. Only issue with the twin walls is there's not much space on the bars for controls.
Protaper KX high…I am 6’-4”
I am 5'10" and run a Renthal 827 Stew/villo bend. Its very close to the stock crf/kxf bars and the bars that come stock on KTM/husq enduro models.
My bike is a T300i and I was happy with the stick bend but there wasn't enough room on the bars for everything so I was having to compromise my lever position more than I would like.
The 827 has a control area (7/8" parallel section) that is 222mm long ( 8 3/4") whereas the stock bars only have 180mm (7") of control area.
Worth looking at if you're after a neutral bar with more room for controls.
Pro Taper Windham all the way.
Pro taper Windham bars
Renthals eqiv = 971 which was once originally called the Windham bend. Then RC started using them. So it was the Windham/RC bend until Windham ended up on a team with pro taper sponsorship.
6ft tall and have run 999 Twinwalls on Hondas, Suzukis, ktms, and Yamahas since 2005. Sets up a good attack position
6’4” kx450
604 Renthal RC
Renthal 821 McGrath fatbar and 983 Villopoto/Stewart 7/8 bar. The McGrath bend is very low. I like them both at 5'6
6'4" KX 450 and Husky 300. Both have Pro Taper Evo CR high bends. Only bar I run.

5’8 Renthal Fatbar 821 on a 24 YZ450
I’d guess the closest is Tusk MX bend. Same spec aluminum as name brand and its fat bar. I have Tusk MX bend on a Mod’d Honda CRF250F trial bike/pit bike and like it. I didn’t know ProTaper didn’t do bars anymore. I’m not the most well informed.
Pit Row
6’2” 185lbs. Renthal 839 on a yz450F. 4mm higher and 3mm less sweep than stock. It’s perfect.
I'm not sure on that, I know they haven't been made by easton in years.
5'8", Renthal Fatbar 672.
I didnt realise how much I liked this bar until I got on an RMZ450 and they were OEM fitment. I used them on everything ever since.
I prefer the look of the Twinwalls, and I know the TW991 has the exact same dimensions, but they just dont feel the same. I cant explain why or understand it, they just dont.
I’m showing my age by thinking this thread was going to be a bunch of dudes spitting rap lyrics
6’0 tall. Phoenix 80MM on a 23 GG MC350
6’ and have ran nothing but 997 Twin Walls on everything since they came out in 2001
I’ve taken a pipe cutter to the last 3/8” or so of the twinwall bar mount portion with success. Gives you a little more room to bring your levers in, which I see a lot of guys struggling with on twinwalls or handlebars in general.
Bringing the levers in towards the center helps them not break or bend in a crash, and generally sets you up with a better attack position.
Twinwalls 999 is my favorite, very low bar, so low the crossbar pad will make heavy contact on the bar mount fasteners and wear the pad away pretty good. Which kinda sucks. Im 5’ 11” and a low bar puts my elbows up. A high bar puts them down. I never understood why tall riders want a tall bar, I guess for comfort when standing up straight but you really shouldn’t be in that position much.
Another downside to the twinwalls, would be how they accentuate a rigid feel. A rigid frame and rigid handlebar is too much IMO. But on a flexy frame like Kawi, I think the twinwall adds to the precise feel.
Like this bar, No more Pro Taper? That explains why they are all sold out
Bars?!? Hussong's Cantina of course!!!
Appreciate all the responses fellas..cool to read.
Seems like the 997 are top of the list in regards to Twinwalls and the 999 a close second...I have 997's💭 Maybe I'll give those guys another run this weekend.. Not sure why I've got 996's on my radar
Windham Bend and McGrath fat bars clearly a favorite also.
Pro taper are no longer!? Whaa?....When did that happen?
I was perfectly happy running my stock steel bars on my 2002 Honda. One day in the pits, a five year old kid looks at them and says, "Are those steel?" like he just couldn't believe it. Of course his dad put $300 pro tapers on his KX 65.... lol.
$300 pro tapers for the 5 year old on the 65 😂
