Note* That "Ten Worst" Article came out in 2003.
Pretty sure if it came out today - the top-ten would be all Chinese bikes.
For those of us that grew up in the '60's, even through to the early '70's -
"Made In Japan" meant something completely different than it does today.
Nowadays, it's generally a sign of superior workmanship and quality -
back when we were kids if something broke, folks would laugh and
say "must be made in Japan." You never hear that anymore.
The Shop
Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts

DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
That was actually a pretty damn good bike! I agree with almost everything in this thread but dude we must not be talking about the same bike...
I'm with Deetsmx on that one, I loved that bike.
I remember seeing a guy run off the track and hit an embankment. Detroyed the front wheel and the hub broke into three pieces.
- The engine was fast but super unreliable, blew up a couple times.
- The worst starting bike I have ever owned, even after a rebuild it would take 20 kicks
- Didn't handle very well, no matter what we did to the suspension it never felt like it had a smooth action
Put me off KTM for life.
Plus it was pink! Pink!
I've told this story too many times, hopefully you've not heard it - yet...
Had a buddy I met at local track in early 80's - he told me of buying a bike - I
believe it was a PUCH 125 - he bought it SOLELY based on a magazine
proclaiming it to be the "QUICKEST bike we've ever tested....."
After initial practice session, he determined the steed was nowhere near fast and,
after re-reading the article - noticed what he misread before :
"QUIETEST bike we've ever tested...." True story.
Well, maybe not 'just' the bike....
Pit Row
1993 YZ 125 was one of the worse bikes I have ever owned. Slow as molasses and had to rev it to the moon to get any momentum. Also had a terrible bog which caused me a broken wrist. Gave up riding for awhile after riding that POS.
It had sand cast engine cases that after 1 month all the bearings would be spinning around. Back hub kept breaking and the underslung pipe got flatted all the time.
Lucky I was sponsored by the importers so got replacement parts okay.
Horrible Suspension. All low end with no top or mid. If the seat was replaced with marble it would have felt better. Vibration was out of control.
I didn't read through this entire thread , so I don't know if this bike got mentioned .....But I would have to say the 97" Honda CR250. First year of the perimeter frame....and it was like riding a 2X6 with wheels! God that bike sucked!
