If it was his shock that failed he would have had no dampening and would have dropped anchor( we know how sensitive he is to shock setup). Leaking valve cover was reported by Matthes.

Pretty sure that was shock oil. He would've smelled engine oil roasting in the slow corners if that's what it was. Sure looked like smoke only on rear shock compression, not when he was revving the bike the most. That 1 sketchy rhythm is what won and lost the race. Tomac was faster around the rest of the track, but somehow never got that rhythm correct. I blame the shit track maintenance for that section. Pretty terrible they didn't freshen the section for the Mains. Would've made a lot better racing.

Except they all had to race that same section/track...

You were claiming he is coming back to win the championship.  I still don't see that happening.  He just got smoked in his own house this weekend.  If he beats Jett this year, it will be the same way Chase beat Eli last year (due to an injury).  He won't beat Jett for the championship by beating him in races.  He simply isn't as fast as Jett.

Do you think a shock with no ability to control dampening and rebound would allow Eli to get 2nd place after we saw him drop to tenth with a bad setup a few weeks ago?

"You were claiming he is coming back to win the championship."

I think you misread what I wrote. I don't recall claiming he'll win the championship. I recall claiming he's not a has been. He's still one of the best. I think this is the post which started this dialog between us?

"Eli gives a fuck about excuses, he's a competitor and knows he still can win. He wants points, if he's sick as a dog, he's still going to ride for points, if the bike's a problem, he'll finish the race for points. Like him or not, ET3 is bad ass. I'm not sure why all the hate that he's done but they'll get to enjoy a meal of crow before long."

If you have a different post that you want to reference that I don't remember, please post it. Because from the fact that I believe Eli is still a bad ass and has wins left in him, I've been on the Jett train for quite a while, like years. And I believe Eli is showing us he's a bas ass and getting better every week. Aside from a slow start to the season, I think the 2 best riders are Eli and Jett.

Tomacs bike had an oil leak and they thought it was the clutch.

so the entire race on the pit board they put “clutch” on it , which obviously made him ride differently the entire race.

in his mind that probably contributed to not doing the quad also.

if he’s on a bike he’s already having to ride gently , he’s probably not gonna risk it thru a rhythm to make up time just to back off in the corners because of the clutch issue.

also explains him not riding total beast mode if he’s riding differently to conserve the clutch.

all because of an oil leak at the top level…

He said he didn't read the pitboard and neither did he feel the clutch being bad or anything apparently.

That's what he said, but a little past half way through the race, he started taking wide lines everywhere, and more smooth lines.  It appeared to me that he was babying the clutch or the bike in general, which isn't his normal way of riding.

Either way, the bike wasn't 100% AND he was as fast or faster than Jett everywhere except that one rhythm section, so I'm not worried.  I expect he'll have the red plate at some point this season.  I can't wait for the next race.

It seems this Championship is going to go down to the wire!

Vital: teams should be open an honest and tell us about injuries and bike problems.

Yamaha: shock was fine, tomac pumped up.

Yamaha: valve cover leaked.

Vital: that's bullshit, it's not true, they are lying to us.

Teams in the future: 🦗🦗🦗

One of us will be proven wrong come May.  That’s the fun part about bench racing.

I don't believe we'll have to wait till May but yes, one of us will be very wrong.

This implied to me that you think he’s still the title favorite.  I guess I misunderstood your commitment to your guy.  Of course he’s a great rider, just not as great as Jett is this year.

Strangely I don't remember then even happening before...

3/4/2024 6:57pm

Eli's first lap of the main event was 1:32.751

Second to last lap (lap 13) he was 1:32.296

The bike and clutch were working fine.
