I believe there's a scripture in the Bible, where Jesus tells a group of religious people who are ready to stone a woman who was caught in adultery..."Those of you who have no sin, cast the first stone!".

Not trying to have a religious discussion here, but all of us, even you, have acted stupid...and said things we shouldn't have said. I'm not a Forkner fan, but I believe in giving Grace where it's due. Maybe you could see clear to do the same thing, instead of acting like you're a perfect example of a human being.

You're coming off like an attention whore.

Just saying...

It's one of the worst books ever written in the fictional category tbh. I much prefer goosebumps or most of if not all Dr. Seuss classics.

Chronically ignorant response.

Agreed.

We're not supposed to discuss religion....but the board rules also state insulting someone's religion isn't allowed either.   Yet it goes on all the time around here.

Good raw video. Thanks Austin. Sport needs more of this and less “fans” hiding behind random accounts talking shit on every move these young people make. People falter. He’s learning some hard lessons. At the end of the day he will be a better man because of the struggles he’s facing. Give him some grace. We all need it at some point.

Well...that goes to show how much you know about me.  I was a mod on a pretty rough and high-traffic board.    Those kind of comments were against the rules. For those kind of comments, people would be given time-outs and if it persisted, you were banned.  It didn't  matter what religion or lack of religion it's aimed it.     ...and the punishment was never made by one mod...we had a round-table.   The group of mods were not all buddy-buddy either...that kept moderation very fair.

I think it's a safe bet to say that Vital would not allow bashing gays in a general manner....neither would you be allowed to bash race in a general manner here.

Vital historically has a civility issue....and yeah, there are times when even I lack civility here.   However, there are some lines you do not cross.

The world is full of Atheists, 99.9% of them are good, honest people with morals and integrity. Don't let Tumic be your standard, just as I won't let Charles Manson or any other"Christian" f/wit be mine.....

"Christians" don't have the lock on nice people.

I'm here to support Austin, I wasn't the greatest fan but do wish ANY dirt bike-riding brother the best, especially after a crash and injury of any kind.

His persona seems to have changed and matured a lot these past couple of years. Good for him. I too hope he can work through this and come back just that little bit wiser and controlled. I also think his work with Ryno seemed to be really paying off, this incident aside, where it appeared the old Austin rush of blood to the head got him again.

Tumic isn't much of an atheist, but more of an anti-dogmatist. If you have to bring up and continue to present your belief or lack of a belief system as a personal characteristic, you've lost the soapbox. Buy a canoe and a fishing pole to find more meaning in life.

I've never ridden at his level but I have crashed really freakin hard a few times and I was ready to quit for a short while after. I think with a little time he will get back on the horse and maybe learn from all of this.

He will come back bigger and better for sure, this was scary for all in his corner, and even his fans, and people of the sorts.

I believe he will focus forward, one thing that’s for sure is I really hope he doesn’t get lasik, he needs to watch some true testimonials from people that have done so and listen to them and make a decision before doing that. No way that that can be beneficial!

He was absolutely correct when he said the first days after a concussion are not a time to be making any plans. In a way, I was lucky that I had punctured lungs from the crash that knocked me out for I don't know how long. Punctured lungs, at least 20 years ago, were an automatic 5-day hospital stay.

I feel for the guy, that video was hard to watch and like others said, It brought me back to those times in my racing life when I was recovering from big crashes.

Having said that, the guy needs to get the God factor out of his head. "Maybe God doesn't want me doing this" "Maybe God doesn't want me to win today" etc. Its not a shot at his religion, more so that he's adding questions and doubts to his psyche that simply don't need to be there. Instead, he should look harder at why these things happen and how he can prevent them, some are just racing incidents yes, but it could also be that he needs to make better decisions in the moment, back off a touch here, make an adjustment there, aim for more smoothness and maybe a little less for raw speed. If God is your answer, you're more likely to overlook things like that.

Definitely agree. After this crash (when hes ready) he needs to take an analytical look at why this happened and keeps happening. Nothing wrong with faith, but thats not why he crashed. He doesnt have a hex on him, the worlds worst luck, or the devil trying to destroy him. With Ryno in his corner he should have a pretty solid outside perspective on what he did wrong and what he can do to prevent it next time. As its been mentioned by many others, lots of other riders cased that same jump much harder and were fine. Him working on technique last year was a good move, but maybe now going forward he needs a mental coach to help him with split second decision making. Jett has had a bunch of get offs that could have been super bad but they end up being no big deal. I think other riders can learn more than just technique from jett.

he mentioned his left arm is weak from injuries and it was the one that blew off the bars. Coach Rob is going to have a field day with this lack of core strength as a primary factor. And Ryno should have coached him to ride under his limitations.

compromised vision + compromised forearm strength + full send = poor judgment.

I totally agree. Didn't know about his left arm strength. But the fact he was riding around with bad vision, and kept pushing instead of backing it down or fixing it is why he crashed. Totally avoidable. Easier to pull into the mechanics area for 10 seconds, fix the contact and go back to full pace and salvage 2nd or 3rd.

In my life I've never got a contact into my eye in 10 seconds (including hand washing), let alone in mid race.

Did you even proofread your message? Where can the contact possibly go? You're wearing goggles, its obviously still in the vicinity of the goggles to face area.

I lost a contact on the starting line once and I was like F this and went back to the truck.

Luckily, it was an old school enduro so I had some time.  I put in a new contact, started a minute late and still won my class.

I know you have been completely levelheaded with your comments but I must say from the start of this thread I hoped you wouldn't waste any of your time either reading or replying here.  Best wishes to your boy!
