I haven't finished listening to the RV podcast and I wanted to hear about what RV had to say about his career and the sport in general. My only issue is the number of times I have to listen to the word "like"..like, it does drive me crazy, I'm going to be honest. Just lazy. He would be much easier to listen to if somehow he could using this word by, I don't know, 70-80%.

How about listening to his shows and trying to find the things You like instead of focusing on the stuff you dislike all the time.

The way he talks with the riders helps them feel more comfortable. And gets them to feel more relaxed, like they are hanging out with a buddy. Being relightable to the guests. Like when a couple old friends are hanging out and talking. It is his style, and its unique. He has said he's not trying to be a journalist, or press  or fit into any category. He's just doing his thing, the way he feels like it works.

The shows are 3 hours long, You get to hear the guests plenty. It is 3 hours  1 on 1.  I feel like he has cut back on the talking about himself  recently. Yah he could edit it out, but than stuff would lack context. If You have not listened to his more recent stuff , give him another shot and try going into it trying to find stuff You like about the show. Even if You ignore when he talks and just listen to the guests. He gets his guests to talk about stuff that they have never talked about in other interviews. It really is worth listening.

Everybody should listen to the Weege episode. As much as Weege is on Pulp,Racer-X, etc. I feel like I learned a lot about him and his opinions on racing and media from that interview.  I almost think that Gypsy should come up with a different term. Instead of interview.

You are correct about me; I haven't listened to him in a quite a while. Perhaps I will try to listen to the RV or Anderson interviews.

You should.

I haven't watched anything from him in quite a while.

Tuned in for clips of the Anderson stuff.

Those two, Anderson and RV, plus the Weege interview, were good stuff.

I agree he does a good job and talking about himself is relatable on the moto stuff, but the damn jiu jitsu shit is annoying......but I can get past it for some solid content.

Well I listened to the Anderson thing for a couple hours. I understand Gypsy is popular and a likable person. But I just didn't like his style. At times it seemed he talked so much about himself Jason didn't need to be there. Dude, Bro, F-bombs, like - just not into it. Maybe it's my age, it's great some like him though.

Feel like there’s been a lot of shit talking about gypsy on here, but I’ve noticed a lot of the top guys going to talk with him. If he is so bad, why do so many of the actual athletes do podcasts with him?

"and I want nothing to do with cunts."

Anyone want to tell him what an easy joke he teed himself up for?

Yah I could do without some of it. But for me its not annoying enough to keep me from listening.  I stick to mostly just the MX guests . It really seemed like he did a lot less Jiu jitsu talk. On the Weege one , it seemed like he only talked about how people hate how he talks about it.  Compared to some of the stuff from a year or so ago.

I think its worth giving him an honest shot.  If somebody who has only seen what people have said on here is going to listen for the first time, or give it another shot. Try and find the newest show with the person You are most interested in. And than focus on the overall conversation and try not getting stuck on the parts that lead them there.

I agree.  I like the longform stuff from him and Whiskey Throttle.  Weege is great everywhere and liked how they focused on opinions of current things rather than just the story of the person.  He does a great job with that.....but he also doesn't stay firm on his opinions and modifies it based on the guest which I hate.  For example, he has gone on a number of rants with others when he was sucking off WSX about how that's the only reason SMX existed and the new purse along with the series' combining.  All of the sudden WSX is a massive turd and it came up with Weege and he didn't say a word about it....because Weege has shared the truth.  Not a big deal and I still like him.

Seriously some of guys are like a bunch of old women about this stuff. who cares about the BJJ and bro stuff… does it really affect you that much?

It's every day. Crying about something or someone new

It sounds like you’re crying about other people expressing their opinions/takes (that you don’t agree with) on MX related topics that are on a MX forum, which that is what this place is for, respectfully.. 👍🏼

I have tried many times to listen to a full interview but i just cant.. he is the worst interviewer ive ever heard. When asking a question, he answers it himself and adds 10 other questions in there and just rambles on  and on and on.

I enjoyed the one with RV, didn’t hear him mention martial arts or whatever else people criticise him for.

My only complaint is the occasional F bomb where it doesn’t seem nessecary the “broooo” talk and some of his questions are a little long winded.

I don’t listen for him anyway, I’m interested in what RV has to say, is it perfect? No… but I would rather listen to it than have missed out..

His format is more like two buds hanging out and just talking it up. Less formal interview style and more laid back conversation. He gets them to really dig deep and share of their deeper thoughts. You can't get their thoughts if you don't give a little back.

He does get them talking. JA was really impressive, the guy is pretty smart. He could mentor younger (including Jett) guys on their way up.

RV has some great insight. It seems like Feld/AMA could learn a lot from them.

I can't wait to hear from AC on GT.

I get what you mean ..................but he is getting better!

he has some good guests on....... but agree that Jase takes too long framing his questions (i can put up with all the bros talk   LOL).

His need to fit in and remind us that he's a bro who's been around the industry is annoying but he works hard and gets a lot of guests to come on. I just listen to 5-10 minute clips at a time if he has a guest on that I am interested in, much like Joe Rogan.. he just talks over his guests too much. I like the Weege show but he is so quick to say "yeah" after every single thing the riders say it is comical.

I find his relentless use of F-bombs and general swearing the most annoying.  He's capable of controlling it also.  When Trey Canard was on the show Jase didn't swear once.  The odd use of f**k in context is okay but not all the time. He needs to grow up, it's a podcast not a drinking session with his mates at the pub.

I don't Jett needs mentoring from JA of all people.  Jett will pass his SX wins within a couple of seasons.

Because it's not about how good or bad his content is, it's just automatically dismissing him because he's not pulp or American, just like it is for certain people on this forum, you can't reason with these people.

Also with the inception of social media it seems that people cannot listen to a person talk if one idealism or belief system doesn't align with their own they automatically shut it down which is weird because the guests are pure gold.

I made it through the Ando one but can’t tell you how many times I said out loud. Shut the eff up this isn’t about you.  Can say he was better than a year ago but still not interested to listen to him on the regular.

I have tried to listen on several occasions. Most recently the El Hombre pod. I can never get through more than about 5-10 minutes. The bottom line for me is that Jace just talks way too much. I understand that at my age, I'm not part of the "bro, that's so sick bro" demographic. So I can get past the juvenile lexicon. No problem. I can even get past Jace's constant and unrelenting need to remind listeners that he is somehow "in the know", and has spent time in the US, and has hung out with pro racers and industry types. I get it. Everyone has their quirks. Ping smacks his lips and crosses items off of his list like a 5 year old using a crayon, Matthes does the classic "I'll make fun of myself so you don't have to because I'm insecure" bit. I get it. I'm not perfect either. But the whole point of having guests on your show is to deliver to your audience the guests' takes. Aside from the Oz fanboys, I don't think very many people care what Jace thinks or claims to know. I certainly don't.

That comment makes me laugh. Every one talks about how no one likes him and not many people listen.. Yet his numbers don't lie.. just because a small handful of the Vital MX members don't like the way he talks, doesn't mean every one else thinks the same.

Say and comment all you want.. But he keeps getting all these top athletes from all sports, public figures and high up people in different industries on his show consistently and continues to produce the in depth knowledge we all want to hear. You don't get the interviews, relationships or 3 hours of conversation with these people by being unlikable.

People say he's doing it wrong.. Yet he must be doing something right.

Youtube:

GypsyTales - 154k Subscribers.

PulpMX - 42k  Subscribers..

Numbers don't lie. Especially with views.

Gypsy tales dude is cringe to me. Ive tried watching multiple times trying to give him a chance but he tries to put his story or life into his guest story. Just shut up amd let them tell their story. Steve does it also but its more in a joking way which comes across funny most times.

Instead of bitching about podcasts, I chose to drop about 5 pounds today via two big poops, and the tp showed signs of my bloody hemorrhoids acting up worse than the most negative shit posters on here. Maybe some of you guys should watch The View instead of moto podcasts.

I don’t like to say this but he’s my least favorite great in person (via interviews). he’s always seemed slightly put out. even with having “millions in the bank” and the kids he has to spend “so much time with”. no offense, he’s probably a great guy, but he does seem impatient and generally irritable. like something is still a thorn in his side.

yet he’s my favorite on the track. a guy who almost despised being in that predicament, but who I’d be most afraid of if I was a pro on the line with him. his race craft was amazing, but his will. he was like a Barnett (from what I understand). he was nothing short of amazing. the thrill of when the gate dropped, ok tonight it’s going to be awesome in Glendale, but it’s not close to what I felt when Villopoto lined up. he’s my favorite ever rider, hard to explain.

I don’t watch his podcast but I do watch the YouTube shorts. That’s about all I can handle of that kind of 1 on 1 format. The ones w/ Ando & McGrath was good. I’ll check out the RV one.

I really don’t have an opinion on Jace. His format is completely different than Steve’s & I think most of Steve’s listeners are on the app, not watching it on YouTube.

Because it's not about how good or bad his content is, it's just automatically dismissing him because he's not pulp or American, just like it is...

It is about his content to me, he talks too much about himself, he interupts his guests, he curses to much, says dude, bro, and like way too often. I don't care for pulp either, Matthes is a shill and his buddy Keefers dick talk is weird. I don't care if Gypsy tales guy is from another country, Lewis is from Britain and he's great. I enjoy Darkside's show, Whiskey throttle can be good, the show's with ML and Lewis are good as well, Blair's and DV's new deals are pretty great too. JS7's shows can be pretty entertaining too.

I’ll admit, I’ve been quite critical of Jas/Gypsy and never really liked his style/format. The Jason Anderson and RV podcasts have swayed me a little as there is a lot more focus on the guest and their story and much less detouring to irrelevant topics. He’s also acknowledged some fan feedback and used it constructively.

Ryan Villopoto is the 2nd best AMA SX/MX Championship winning racer America has ever produced behind Ricky Carmichael.
