Darryl Bassani passed away in his home on Wednesday, February 7th. One of the true originals in the dawn of moto, his exhausts and creative mind helped shape the aftermarket industry at a time when no such space existed. Always one to consider performance first, DB’s pieces are well-remembered by those who lived through and participated in such an iconic era. Inducted into both the Trailblazers and Hot Shoe Hall of Fames, Darryl lived motorcycles his entire life.
Bassani Xhaust continues on successfully all these years later, with products artfully crafted right here in the USA: DB was proud to provide such quality exhausts that are known world-wide. An exemplary employer, the Bassani work family includes so many amazing individuals who will continue on and always do right by Darryl. As a friend, mentor, and neighbor for over 30 years, DB will be greatly missed. Ride On, Darryl!

Sad to hear another legend has passed. One of a handfull of people I wish would of had the opportunity to have a real conversation with. Never heard a bad thing about him or his company.
Holy shit, that 3wheeler photo goes hard. RIP
Thank you for posting and yet another legend gone.
He worked on very many cool projects, even with factory teams.

I had the pleasure to deal with him at a couple of industry events in the Harley world and I have nothing but good to say about him.
I still have a Bassani on my SL70.
Had one on my 1974 XR 75
True legend in the motorcycle exhaust sector. I remember seeing his ads in my first editions of Dirt Bike in the early 70's.
RIP Darryl Bassani
R.I.P.
Bought a new Bassani pipe for my Honda Mr175 back in the day… RIP…
Hi had the pleasure of interacting with Darryl during my years in the racing fuel business. Old School, straight shooter, stand up guy! We have lost a good one!
I remember putting a Bassani pipe on my 1973 XR75. It was THE go to exhaust for those bikes and everyone else copied it...or he manufactured it for them with their name on it.
His pipes were also the go to for the serious CZ rider from about 1971 onward.
The industry is quickly losing the pioneers and our world will be less because of it. May he R.I.P.
I understand how you feel. I’d like to think he had hand in someone like Mitch Payton’s life. Really cool guy. The craft always gets handed down.
RIP
Oh, I’m so sorry to hear this! The industry has lost an icon! Darryl’s involvement and influence in the industry has spanned over 6 decades, as I recall in the early 1970s that a Bassani pipe was the thing to have on your 2-stroke dirt bike. I had the fortune to meet Darryl back in the 1980s when I worked for Kawasaki. He was always just a cool guy and was always so helpful and nice. I and a couple of my buddies were invited and went to his bachelor party, and it was one for the records! He lived life to the fullest! Rest well buddy!
Still got a Bassani pipe on my 86 Kawi KE100.
Dude is legendary
Bassani made streetbike exhausts as well. Had one on a GS750 many moons ago
His 2-1 full length is on my short list for my Street Glide.
Had one on my 1977 XR75. It was the pipe to have. RIP
Pit Row
Too much power on my 76 XR75. Always made me wheelie over backwards
Legend...Godspeed
I had a Bassani on my 1978 XR75. RIP Mr. Bassani.
Back in 1978 when In I had my RD400 with Bassani pipes, I never thought about meeting Darryl yet alone becoming good friends with him. Met him on the trail behind our house + or - 30 years ago, built a track with him on his property and ended up at a couple Van Halen concerts with him. Unbelievably cool guy that would help without a question asked. Darryl helped me many times and I tried to help him all the times I could. He will be missed greatly.
That’s a nice 200X.
Not partial to 3 wheelers, but working at the dealership at the time I had a soft spot for those, very nice example there. You really put the oil can you yours!
