I can't believe they didn't restart the 250's after that first turn pile up. They were still picking up bikes off of the track when the leaders came around after the first lap.

would guess nbc time slot. was main issue. whole program was weird and felt crushed together.
Because no one was critically injured. They should only red flag the race if someone needs medical attention that the race itself interferes with.
Wanting a red flag because a few bikes are laying in the track is soft as hell.
Your question has me looking over the rulebook and it’s not really defined. It only describes what happens if a red flag is thrown, not what causes a red flag to be thrown. It was my understanding a red flag only gets thrown when a rider is down in the middle of the track, requiring medical assistance. If that is the case, none of the riders involved in the incident on Saturday who needed medical attention were in the middle of the track (i.e. Ferry who was off the track next to the wall). After watching the Instagram video Blair posted from Indy in 09’, I’m even more confused 😂
Can someone who is smarter than me explain the rule. Here’s the link to the 24’ rulebook for reference:

They only red flag races when Deegan has been leading for 25+ minutes (to help a Lawrence brother)..
That wasn't a red flag situation.
The rule book makes no mention of what conditions may result in a red flag, only the procedures once a red flag is thrown.
I can only recall red flags being thrown for injured riders. Never because of a large pile up. This certainly wasn't the first time half the field was dropped like bowling pins on a tight left-hand first turn.
No hyperbole to see here
Too bad Jim Holly wasn’t there to tell them all to stay down
lndy 09 was red flagged because of a first turn pileup.
Why wasn't yesterday? Only the AMA and NBC know that.
And by the second lap it was all gone. Race on
No thanks. Red flags should only be used in situations where a very injured rider needs full medical assistance. I dont even think we ever saw a red flag befor like 2015.
Let em race.
Was it a must situation?
There was no reason for it to be a restart.. Gate dropped, no false starts. no major injuries. no bikes on fire or people in harms way.
other than some peoples favorite riders going down. There is no reason for a restart.
Lot of wood to chop, if the guys that fell want to get back in the race.
I don’t think it would have helped Deegan…bars were cooked.

A restart may have given Deegan's mechanic enough time to change the bars.
Pit Row
Rules 1.3.4c and 1.3.4.f, the AMA are not safety experts, but will institute rules and procedures as they see fit...
And maybe time for Cameron to find some pants.
or duct tape.
You think they could swap bars that quick? I don't know about that
If they follow the 10-minute downtime period, yes that would be enough time.
Tell me your a Deeganite, without telling me you’re a Deeganite.
im glad the rules have changed so half the pits cant just run out onto the track,
