I would imagine donuts sales are down...
Is the main issue that most of the top riders, especially the non-podium guys get the heck out of there so fast after the main that you and few other sources have just a handful of guys to speak to and recycle through? The teams must do a better job at this and need to remember that most fans that follow the sport care more about the after-race information than press day info.
if they let it go then why don't we
old news

besides, with this forum (ahem), wouldn't you want them to ask Jason Anderson's opinion on handlebar tape.

Sort of. Feld has requested we quit going truck to truck to get our after race interviews and instead meet in this controlled scrum area. In theory, it works well. Riders come by, there’s 4-8 media guys waiting to knock out interviews with them, it’s well lit, etc. However, there’s no requirement to do the scrum for riders. If a rider does the press conference (top three) they aren’t required to do any further press. Depending on the mood of the riders, they may say yes when walking out of the press conference or may say “no I just did the press conference, no interviews” and wander off to get changed etc.
The press conferences are a mixed bag because we’re all told one question each, so we don’t get what we want from it so we try for individuals. However, some guys reel off three to four questions in the presser, which we just get hand slaps for. But if you do it over and over you get on real trouble.
As you can see in my Jason interview, I wanted to talk to him about the night, things I saw in his racing, then added in the Jett comment. He had a good night, I want to talk about that with him, no just rehash last weekend. Try to mix it in so in some form I get a answer from him when he’s comfortable and flowing in the conversation. I thought his answer was fairly insightful.
Either I'm getting old or Vital has really gone to hell lately. There's a ton of giant fucking morons here now.
People like to say the vitriol has always been this bad... Nah, no it hasn't. It's a whole new level at this point.
I really do not care about their sales of donuts, and they highly likely do not read this so what is the point of your barb towards Jett?
So what would happen if the reverse happened, no medi show up to press day, post race etc....reality the media helps promote the riders by giving fans access, if feld or riders dont want to be promoted, move on. Fact is the riders or pr guys want control. I gave up bei g a fan of any particular rider, i just watch for the actual racing.
I agree 100% I am certainly one who is thinkng of getting off this forum...I find myself defending riders way too much when really I shoudlnt give a fuck...funny thing is my main rider is Chase, but I massively dislike the amount of hate being thrown at other riders, so I defend them
and I know there are a lot of other people here who agree with me likes/dislikes or not
I have been here since 2009 and never seen anything like it over the past year.
This should be a place where we come here to enjoy the sport we love not be a bunch of assholes to riders whether you like them or the brand they ride, I mean a 33 page thread about two riders having a very minor tiff after a race (no punches thrown, no injuries) that both riders have moved on over?????????...Seriously???
My point is the money machine of Lawrence Inc. is likely to see a significant hit and the bean counters would likely want to move forward to greener pastures. Nothing personal towards Jett cosidering he seems the most reluctant party to do so.
Such a life altering decision to ponder not logging into Vital 😂
I couldn't agree more. It would improve the quality of my experience here indescribably if he did.
good call I shall do just that, thanks for helping me get away from here
They weren't going to let any journalist steal their golden goose egg buddy. Feld had their intro all done up with Andersons IG post on the TV, with 80% of it blurred out and then super imposed other riders posts on top of it with cute message app noises trying to set fire to a feud neither one even cares about anymore.
I didn't see one pic of Jetts handlers apology posts to show both sides, only inflammatory wrestlemania bullshit from the cucks at Feld.
ML/Lewis - it's just addressing the obvious I suppose. I'll say for the 1000th time - you guys have so much more power than you realize but you get steamrolled because like, bro, and stuff.
Yes and no. In ways we do, in ways we don’t. There are riders I have completely stopped interviewing (Matthes same by example) it changes nothing. They don’t come to us, they have their own platforms or just don’t care.
Digital media landscape is quite interesting these days.
Obviously you have great passion in the questions asked and answered.
Not being a dick but seriously have you thought about pursuing this and getting a media credential(zero idea how this works) and picking a race and give it a go?
It would be interesting to read your experience.
There is certainly a lot of bro culture in moto media but ML is one of if not the best “journalist” we have in this sport. Attacking him for not getting an interview is way off base in my opinion.
Pit Row
FFS man... Are you really that thin skinned?
1.) The riders don't need you to defend them.
2.) Vital (from what I understand) is TAME compared to the old days . Good banter makes this place fun. ...and you want to take away and turn it into a snoozefest. I've been a more than a few years and it isn't any different this year than years past.
3.) There's this great feature called "IGNORE". Bet you didn't know it exists....yeah, the procedure to use it is: Don't open or continue to open threads that offend your sensitivities. Skip over posts of people who annoy you.
4.) I see this board as a place where people laugh, fight, discuss and share good/bad news. There's something that resembles that...it's called family. Don't take things so seriously or personally.
5.) If you're gonna leave, just leave and don't announce it because that's about the lamest thing you can do.
....and if you do leave.
Most of the posters that have been around forever seem to have been chased off. I’ve been around since the Supercross.com, the country club, and Big Lenny forum days, and you had a lot of the same guys on each board that loved to talk trash but lived moto. I don’t see any of them on here anymore. It’s gotten to be fairly unbearable.
gypsy got the Ando scoop anyways .................................one of Jace's better interviews.....
won't be surprised if he pull's jett a side down the track
Where's the lie? Saturday night, our gang gathers up to watch. There were 7 of us. Sometimes, it's a few more. I'm the new guy and I've known all of them 46 years. We don't agree on anything! It's more fun arguing over something that happened 40 years ago than you ought to be able to have. It amazes me how we can all be watching together and perceive things so different.
This place, the whole world really,,, has gone to crap. Bunch of lightweights.
This place is unrecognizable anymore.
I agree. I also thing the same about his testing, he's the one that makes most sense to me, he's also the one that can tell you (because he's sees things and asks) about new changes to factory team bikes etc. Most of the bro media is too busy with secret hand shakes and cool stuff. ML is like a serious moto nerd, not much makes it past him.
As Anderson has told us a few times, he hates...hates doing podcasts or long-form interviews, but does Jace's because he's his buddy and did the Monster one because he sort of had to with his deal. I don't mean that as a dig, as I said before, Jace has done a great job of building relationships and his one with Anderson is strong.
He's a great interview though when he's down, I appreciated his time last night.
While I appreciate the praise, I'm most certainly not the best journalist in this sport, not by quite a bit. I also do not claim to be a journalist by job description. I do journalistic work as a portion of my job but it's not my focus.
Anyone ever looked into the “media coverage” of other feld events? Monster Jam….
I don’t think feld sees this as a real sport, as long as it’s thought of like a circus then it will be treated like a circus.
Just don’t cover or interview any riders (and their SPONSORS) if they don’t want to.
Cover and promote other riders and their SPONSORS that want to speak with Media.
Keep track of who you interview and how it promotes coverage for their SPONSORS.
The SPONSORS want publicity.
Soon the ones paying the bill will require media time.
Or not, and just play the buddy ole pal so can I get this special time to interview Bullshit.
As media you need to have a direct relationship with sponsors and show how your coverage help promote said sponsors paying for promotion. Pretend the riders are just talking heads with a sponsor hat on.
Jett's Agent runs the media so I am sure it was off limits
Not only assumptions but asking too many legitimate questions will have that effect as well.
