When I was younger and I wanted to do a double I practiced on a table because it was safe if I came up short. It was never a single.

if you inspect the image further you will see a designated take-off on both subject A and B
The 1 2 and 3 represent landing zones, Aka a spot where you could safely land
a quad has 3 landing zones
a triple has 2 landing zones
a double has 1 landing zone
a single has 0 landing zones
so you count the landing zone on the 1st jump in the bottom pic and not the top?
