Stock pipe is too restrictive.  You will need a pipe to uncork it.

I don’t own one of the new bikes yet, but I heard from someone “in the know” that removing the baffle inside the muffler will give you the same benefits as buying a slip on.  I suppose if you were planning to buy a slip on anyways, it would be a cheap experiment to knock the baffle out and see what happens.

That would be nice if it's true. It's the first decent looking muffler for a Kawi and I'm too poor to be buying exhaust systems.

Happy New Year Everyone.
I’ve been riding this 24’ KX450 A LOT on my holiday and sure the airbox is small/choked up but the sealing has been decent if you oil your filter correctly. The key is to make sure you slide the outer portion of the filter plate into the airbox correctly and get those plastic pins inside the holes, then snap in. I’ve rushed it once and “almost” screwed it up so it can happen. I’ve seen one buyer suck dirt and Kawasaki warranty’d it but it looked like the filter didn’t have much oil on it.

As far as Michael doing shootout with grommet in, that would be KX450 comparison suicide. 😂 It’s really slow with grommet in (almost like ISDE type muffler feel). Twin Air is making filters (I’ve been running a couple) and they also will seal a little better. I’m running an open cage from Justin Kopcak (find him on Instagram) and that helps low end snap too. The cage is 3D printed like the photo above in this thread.

I did an podcast/update on the KX450 before I went on holiday and that is up on my site but mapping the stock ECU doesn’t help engine braking. There is a map on my site that I’ve ran that helped power but not engine brake feel. Im currently on a TD Vortex ECU and that has made HUGE difference in torque feel and overall power output. I’ve noticed that the KX450 has the tallest 1st gear known to man and is actually usable in some tight corners of moto tracks (if you can believe that)! I do have to ride this KX in second more than YZ450 but 2nd gear is so long that I'm used to it now. I’ve gone up to a 51T to help response down low (and recovery feel when I screw up).

Vibration is still an issue with me as I notice more through my hands/feet than a YZ but similar to a CRF.

For me, this is a better KX450 than 23’. I like chassis more and I don’t mind a slower 450 feel as long as it doesn’t feel heavy. With the mods I’ve done to ours, the bike doesn’t feel heavy. It did feel a little heavy pre Vortex. I’d rather add power (if needed) than try to take away. That is a little more tricky to do. -KK

Happy New Year

appreciate it KK.

we have plenty of cages if any if you guys want some - dm me or hit me up on Instagram.

im at the 8/10 hour mark on my own 24-

loving the chassis feel, I have now moved onto KYB forks and x trigs - which the showa are still good but man do I love me some KYB done by enzo on this bike- even better front end feel and comfort .

I'm awaiting an HGS pipe, and I think I'll be happy after that ( really wish I didn't sell my vortex from my 23) .

Has anyone gone from a 350 to this bike? Been on 350s the last several years but thinking of making the switch. I love the 350 engine but really liked the last gen Kawi chassis and ergos. The stock power output of this bike is appealing to me so I’m not interested in trying to make it any faster. Vet guy here so I can race whatever I want.

I'm torn between a 50 Year Anniversary/El Hombre Edition...or...an X...where I leave the bike on it's kickstand at the starting gate and get on it -just before- the gate drops...? Laughing

An El Hombre/TeamGreen/Pro Circuit KX450X "Baja Beach Bash Off Road-MX Edition"? Woohoo

Working on a couple kits ……..

Also if you’re coming off a Honda like me and you ran a Vortex ecu, it will fit the ‘24 Kawi. Just need a remap👍

FYI, looks like Kawasaki just put a $500 rebate on the '24 250 and 450 last night, bringing the effective MSRP down to $9,999.  It might only be $500, but dropping one digit off the price will make me feel better about it when I go to the dealership in the next month or so to pick one up.

I am a washed up 65 year old, 240lb A rider. Put a tad over an hour on the 24 today. Bike isn't a fire breather but it's not slow by any means. Biggest plus for me is the front end feel. Front feels planted, steers good and gives good feel of the front wheel. Steers much better than the previous gen and better than the 23 KTM 450 I had. Stock Air Filter set up is not confidence inspiring to say the least. Have some Twin Airs coming for it and very curious to see what the Power Flow kit looks like when it becomes available?

Yeah that kinda pisses me off. After only six weeks Kawasaki starts rebates. That is BS. I’m sure they’re going to send me $500 bucks back.

Exactly, march it usually peaks for highest discount too.

Saw the anniversary edition in person at the shop Wednesday looked sweet. I like how the cast section of the frame spars. How the boot grip area was left more textured for extra grip.

Installed the new Twin Air and it takes more effort to push and clip the cage in which hopefully means better sealing. When i pulled the stock filter out this time the sealing edge on the end where it gets clipped in was compressed to the point of almost being paper thin but thankfully no passed dirt.

With MX-34's ?  If I run any less than 13.5 on the rear I will destroy rims.  It is a lightweight tire with soft sidewalls and a small-ish body compared to the 33's.

I am in the process of going through this bike, Ive never owned a Kawi before this one so I'm trying to figure shit out.

first impression is it's pretty good quality bike, but the mediocre quality fasteners, hose clamps, and small screws and hard parts are not up to par IMO.

1.1 radiator cap WTF?

Suspension is off be modified, going through to find almost no grease on any bearing surfaces.    Probably going to upgrade some things like the stupid Phillips screws and clip on hose clamps with better hardware before it gets ridden.  Nice that the bike comes with MX 34 on the front and rear.

Rode the bike on the street when I got it home, front brake feels exactly like a KTM, but back brake feels weak and mushy. Maybe I need to bleed it, I don't know.

Got some special hard parts and a special air filter and cage coming from NL for this bike next week, maybe even a proto HGS exhaust if I'm lucky, so I maybe can get rid of the boat anchor stock exhaust sooner than later.

I guess there are a couple new maps out there now for this bike, looking forward to trying them in a week or so.

Stock clutch looks a little sketch as compared to KTM, maybe that needs a Hinson or Rekluse, I guess we will see...

If you care I take some vinyl siding J-channel and cut it to fit over the sub frame where the seat rubs against it.

Got the service manual for the 2024 KX450. Saw some differences in the specifications. Only thing that really stuck out to me was the KX450 and the KX450X have different rakes on the front.

KX450 has 26.4

KX450X has 27

Different trail as well but I don't have the exact numbers on hand this second. Beyond that not too much difference besides fork oil heights, seat height, width and bike weight. Also the KX450X has an accessory plug behind the number plate. So hopefully we'll be seeing some aftermarket headlights.

Update full PC stainless exhaust and up a tooth:

The New KX has a unique sound and the PC exhaust system boosts that revvy growl (250F-ish sound) and adds a racey fire cracker pop when blipping the throttle.

Big improvement over stock, the pipe does not suddenly make it a torque monster, retains a similar linear feel, just more everywhere. It picks up cleaner revs up quicker through the mid and to the top. It gained everywhere, but most noticeable right off throttle as the RPM’s build it just wants to rev and rev to the moon. I don’t know where the rev limit is. Same thing with stock exhaust except now the bike gets moving quicker, pulls harder but still smooth electric feeling power on tap when you need it where before you were, meh, I dunno if it’s got enough to pull third and jump this jump out of a corner, now you can. It will now pull third gear through an average corner but still likes second better and that is with one tooth up (51). Running pump gas. Can’t say much on maps, need to test more.

Same deal with the KX250 and KX250x. It is either due to rear tire difference in height or maybe different sag/spring rates.

Also where the radiator shroud hits frame is a good place for some clear vinyl.

Nice to hear. Just now installed the T6 Pro Circuit. Have the 51T sprocket on the other 24 kx450. After I break this one in, will decide between the 51T or 52T.  Also thanks crmx105, just ordered a couple Twin Air filters from where you recommended. The guy there said the power cage is probably a month out from being retailed.

Would be interested to hear peoples experience on this well. As well as how mellow you can make the engine with the tuner app if a guy wanted to 'work his way back' onto a 450 again.

Well I came off a 23 Husky FC350 before the 24 kx450. Found it to be a very easy transition. The KX builds power in a very linear way. I’d say it’s sneaky fast. If you want to run it mello, simply keep the stock exhaust, leave the air cleaner with the oem screen still in. (I would still take out the rubber rectangle air box plug though.) Basically do nothing and enjoy it. In stock form it feels like a 350. That being said the 23 and up 350’s are fast.
