The Stark Bikes are Not Banned from the AMA, they just need more time to build a class for the "big Electric" bikes like the little bikes went through.
They (The AMA) told me it's up to the Local Tracks-promoters can decide if the want to let them race with gas bikes or not.
I've been riding with all my buddies for 6 months and no-one has had concerns.
The AMA stated some BS about safety and "no" noise could be an issue during a race.
Isn't the noise more of a problem then "silent" riding....lol
2 wheel therapy is what it's all about, not gas - vs - electric ride what ya got !

and, out of the hundreds of mags/websites praising the Varg after riding it, it happens to be one of the very few he deems trustworthy
Now that Stark can make 10 000 bikes per year and that the wait is only 1 month for Europe and 3 months for the rest of the world, I guess we can expect long term tests by this summer.
Then Magoo can find something else to say in every Stark thread.

The other 99.9% of the riders can race them at local events. AMA should stick to their museum only.
100% not true for 2024. There will be no mixing of e-bikes and gas bikes in AMA events with the possible exception of the 50cc sized machines on open 50cc classes. For a track to be able to do this, they would need to submit it to the AMA via supplemental rules. At this time we would not be approving those supplemental rules that would allow E-Bikes and gas Bikes to compete against each other.

What is the reasoning behind this?
Big advantage with the Stark, Mecatecno Dragon Fly or any other high e bike that no one talks about is throttle response at altitude. It is the same whether at Mammoth or at the Red Sea. When Toyota perfects a low cost solid state battery, this will be the big game changer. Twice the energy in same volume and twice the charging rate. Or in a electric assist mtb bike, dropping 2 pounds with the same range. with 3 d printing, shapes of the energy storage is going to be something other than rectangles.
Skimmed a bit of that race, dropping the power to 25 and not having to worry about stalling or frying the clutch would be a huge advantage, I wonder how much the lack of gyro affects mudriding.
Mostly lack of awareness of where they are on the track and also riders following them have no idea if they are going to attempt an obstacle due to lack of exhaust note. I have spoken with several pro riders who raced against them in Europe. 100% think they are not safe to be on the track with gas powered bikes.
Competitive balance is another issue as well as them not meeting the specs in the AMA rulebook. We are working on updating these.
Its not the wild west where you can just build anything you want and it will immediately be eligible to race in whatever classes the manufacturer wants it in. The Honda 150 4 stroke is a perfect example. Honda built a bike to race a class it didnt fit in based on the rules. We didnt change the rules to allow it in the 85 class, it was approved for Supermini which was where it fit
We are watching very closely what the other federations are doing but are being cautious.
We should be careful using rules here..... the 150 didn't fit with the 85 class, rules. But the ktm 520 was a-ok to race against 250's. As well, the 250f vs 125's.
Things change, that's really the only point I'm making.
Also, The Canadian nationals showed that the 250 vs 250 four- two stroke worked just fine, and was very equal, with benefits both ways depending on the track. Even seeing this, and knowing it would allow more riders to compete against the 50,000$ 250f's , nothing changed.
John Dowd was hole shotting almost every race on his 520 KTM against 250 cc bikes........the AMA had no problem with that.
The AMA has no credibility in making rules regarding this type of stuff.

Regarding track awareness I guess it shouldn't be too difficult to devise and implement a rule requiring some kind of noise making device so it's probably not that big of a hurdle (and Stark are open to the idea). But of course it would take some time. The various championships where the Varg will compete in 2024 should help clarify if any sound device would be needed for safety.
I have a question regarding Endurocross: what would be the AMA reasoning for allowing, via supplemental rules, electrics to race Endurocross for years, and quite possibly changing their mind just when the Varg arrives? If there had been any safety issue when Alta was racing (and podiumed), surely electrics would have been banned from Endurocross a long time ago?
