Want Dan Blair Back

Blairs breakdown specially with the way he was interviewing riders was the best moto content we had outside of racing. 

Smart, well spoken, doesn’t dumb things down, no stumbling over words…oh yeah no chance they will let him back and make the goat look bad…

I'm waiting for the day he lets the cat out of the bag why he really stepped away. He's mentioned it in his pod he's not ready anytime soon. 

According to supercrosslive he's on the broadcast crew.

That chapter is over and unfortunately it's seemingly because of reasons outside of his own. But props to him for standing his ground and doing what is best for him.

He also did some lacrosse around the time that he moved on. Is it possible he just didn’t have a role doing the moto stuff? If they were giving him other sports to work it’s not like they thought that he was doing a bd job.

DB is great! I'm very happy he's still doing the podcast, it's by far my favorite. I'd love to hang out with the MEM version of him for a day. 

He wanted full time play by play for SX which was not granted by Feld. With how much he deserves it, it's a shame, and I hope he finds purpose in his other endeavors. 

i speculate it was centered around money. he knew his worth and his employer didn't.

There was that video a while back where RC was being a dick to him, they may not get along and I’d say Ricky has a lot of influence with the broadcast team.

No the rumours are ricky was an asshat.

Next rumour was he wanted to be the main commentator but nbc wanted guys like leigh diffy and Todd harris as they are regular commentators for nbc and Dan wasn't going to be upgraded in the foreseeable future so he left.

I think that was just banter. Ricky likes to give people shit, I really don’t think Ricky dislikes him.

Being lucky enough to hang out a couple times including spending the weekend with him and the MEM crew in SLC last year I can say he is exactly the guy that you think he is. 

It boggles my mind every time I see these threads. I've been in and around the sport my whole life and been through every commentator since the Art and Bailey. Why is this such a big deal to people? Its all background noise no matter who is talking or how good they are. I'm paying attention to what's happening on the track. The casual fan doesn't give two craps how many clicker adjustments Jett Lawrence made before the main even much less what that even is so why is it in Felds interest to have someone over analyzing the racing. The hard core fans can see and know what's going on and if they want to get a good interview about how many map changes they made to the bike, they will hear about it as soon as they go to vital or swap moto after the race like we all do.

Daniel Blair is great at what he does for the hardcore fan but that does not translate to the casual viewer that Feld is trying to attract.

The casual viewer you are talking about doesn't exist, well not much at least... it might be a few % each show, especially now that its behind a paywall.  How many new sports do you pay for and watch that you don't have interest in? I know for me its very rare, too much other shows on stuff I do care about. The common talking point amongst the people who put the show together is to simplify it down to make the new person understand it but then you alienate all the hardcore people who do care about the changes Jett made. DB and Weege do an incredible job of talking to the viewers who know whats going on  and not giving them the A-B-C's of the sport. 

Ya DB’s calling is moto broadcast even if he can’t see it right now or the powers above dont see it to be.  You must come back  dime beast “ you stand for the moto community!!!!  
 

But it also the fact that he is very articulate, and can put a complete sentence and paragraph together. He doesn't struggle to say what he is thinking, it flows out naturally.

And its not all Hunter brothers, inside-outside, and learning lessons with Daniel. 

Nope we need a female track reporter or a fat guy in a flannel shirt. We need to reach the new audience for the ratings. 

Just because he is not on the broadcast team this year doesn't mean you won't see him again, but right now he is doing his calling. Watching how he works with the kids and hearing his training style he really has an opportunity to make a huge difference in the sport doing what he is doing.

Blair fan here.  He speaks clearly and speaks quickly.  He is a gifted speaker

He can complete a coherent thought while the racers hit a corner or 2. 

Some of the current announcers are still in the C class despite years of experience.
