Instead of East/West, the 250 class could be divided into Junior (up to 21 years old) and Senior (over 21 years old).  There would be no other rules about pointing out or championshipping out.  Each division would race 7 rounds plus 2 showdown rounds.

That's an interesting idea.

THIS.  It should be the same as outdoors where it holds the same rules as 450's.  They already get the same TV coverage and in some cases the racing is better.  make it 17 rounds and open for any pro to qualify.  Don't give the BS about job creation or privateers.  This is the highest level of racing in the world and the Teams would still hire the riders who produce results.

Seriously I’ve never understood how all the same racers can point out of supercross but anything goes in MX.  There’s no consistency. How cool would it be to see a guy like Bam extend his career two years and drop down to race deegan.  We can have Marv race a 250 outdoors but when it come to sx nope….  We don’t want our guys to race WSX but the sport leaves all these dudes high and dry. Like it’s simple.  Whatever it takes to have all our racers line up, regardless of what class they’re in should be the thought process. I could go on for days

Because one is a national series and one is a regional series. What is hanging you up on that exactly?

Yet SX is the dubbed the “ premier race series”. MX at least allows all riders to compete.
Why not have one rule that covers both series…..Oh Shit, that would make too much sense. Sorry, not Sorry !

Yes. That's what I said. All Triumph needs to do is show the bike is capable of racing. They don't need to set the world on fire right away. Other guys race 250F's in the 450 class. Just race it in 450, he's not going to win a title either way. And a full series would get more exposure than just 1 coast.

Some guys aren't suited to a 450. Let them ride 250 for as long as they want. If the kids are good enough they will beat them

There's one guaranteed way to get in. If he were to transition there is no possible way they can deny entry.

I think he just has to "identify".Cool

Everybody is so willing to grab at the AMA’s neck with inconsistencies regarding rules. Then something like this comes up and the pitch forks are out. Fans of the sport need to pick a side. Should the AMA enforce rules or shouldn’t they?

They should enforce relevant rules. If they see a conflict within the rules, they should make the common sense conclusion that THEY ARE NO LONGER PENALIZING riders for this situation.

But they are!

The rule that says you can't drop back down if you have advanced through championships or points, is still in the book.

What does it hurt the sport to let the fastest people that can qualify race? Initially you'd have a lopsided representation. Eventually you'd probably have 5-10 riders on east coast and another 5-10 riders west coast competing that dropped down because they were no longer relevant in the 450 class. How many really fast kids are there that should move up to the 250 class every year? It would be a good learning experience racing with guys almost fast enough to be in the 450 class. And when the kids can beat them, they move up. What makes one person more entitled to a gate than the next?

And if Savatgy wants to race a 250, let him.

Agree with all of this except the regional thing, it is actually good for the sport as a whole to have it that way.

Plus if 450s is a runaway we have 2 more chances for a title fight. Its reinvigorating when the east kicks off.

Because I want to see the fastest guys on the start line? As opposed to 13 guys that are a lap down by the end of the race? Yea, that'll get people excited.

The fastest 250 eligible riders will be on the start line. That hasn't changed, and won't if Joey joins them.

Said it many times…you can take the sport out of the backwoods but you can’t take the backwoods out of the sport. it’s not their first bad call and surely won’t be their last.

Let Joey ride!

Question for the “lawyers” here. If I break a law and go to jail, and that law is later changed, do I automatically get out of jail? I’m pretty sure the answer is no, as whatever I did was still illegal at the time I did it?

Joey pointed out of the class under the rules at the time. Were the rules dumb? Sure.

Yes, you do.

Dismissal and Re-Sentencing of Certain Marijuana Convictions

(Ab-1793 and Prop 64)
California has recently passed new laws so that most people with prior convictions for marijuana charges can have their marijuana convictions either reduced to misdemeanors or dismissed entirely.

Excellent find on that article Johnny. The article presents 10 reasons just to combine East/West into one. Very compelling. Great read.

Thanks.

The last dude in prison for a "wacky tobaccy" conviction just got out earlier this year.....

Would love to keep the 450 as the "premier class" and have some sort of age and championship limit. Just doesn't seem right guys coming into the class at 17 years old battling with guys 28+, nearly 10 years experience.

Under current rules though he should be allowed back.

Love this idea, only downside is pre-season injuries.

right now, if someone is slated for west coast, but breaks a collarbone, no big deal, just race east.

with age based coasts, a rider would miss the entire season, if this rule was in place, Jett would have one less championship

You could have the "regions" alternate. Then a 2 month injury for either region would only miss about half the season.

They should stop all the BS stuff with 250 SX. No points bumps, no age bumps and most importantly equal displacement racing.

Thank you.

Another bs rule screwing someone's paycheck. Stew/wada paperwork bs. Reed/Sony action cam bs. Privateers can't sell merch bs. Point is these rule making twats are hurting our sport. I really wish all that kinda shit would change for the benefit of the riders.

Lol.  So a rule that was very clear and in place is the same as the FIM/Wada holding James accountable for not having a TUE.  James and his team dropped the ball, not the FIM.  I guess any rule should be optional?

Cut the track?  No problem

T bone a rider and break their Tib/Fib?  No problem

Jump on a red cross flag?  Sure

Run illegal parts?  Of course that is fine

Privateers not selling merch is dumb, but in this case they have already changed the rule impacting Savatgy, but made it very clear in the rule book it was only for current riders, not in the past.

Introducing Heather Swanson-Savatgy to the 250 class... Bold move, but I'm sure you're right they'd let it slide 😂

I was wrong. I should be more like you and love every rule and law in existence. Can you please teach me to blindly follow orders without thinking? I will pay you lots for long time!

Who cares how long a rider stays in the 250 class as long as he does not dominate and win multiple championships? If they truly want to stop the life time 250 rider place a max dollar amount a rider can earn in a year wins, bonus and out side sponsors and do not allow riders to spread out their pay over multiple years. Make it so money is the reason he wants to move up. Instead of pointing out he will money out. This will allow factories and race teams to cut their cost and maybe even open up more spots on their teams.

They "sell it" by saying it is to the benefit of the riders.......then it goes sideways.

Do they even do any type of WADA testing anymore?
