Kove MX450

The 250 is only 5999, I imagine the 450 will be 6500 or so. Be a fun bike, sounds like they would be a great alternative if someone is honest with themselves and just wants a new bike to ride. This is vital though and A-kits are a necessity.

I saw a presentation from EICMA. I recall the price being $8000 for the 450 and there will be an “R” version with titanium exhaust, traction control, mapping, etc for like $1k more. I have been following the company. Out of anything coming from China- they appear to be a legitimate manufacturer. They do have in-house development and the company is owned by enthusiasts. The Kove 450 rally has been raced in Dakar. Mason Klein, an American will be racing Dakar for them next year. They sent bikes 250’s over here already for testing. They have a high performance 250f in the works also and will be offering enduro and xc versions of the bikes. If they can make a good quality bike and become part of racing and support the sport-I’m good with it. The more quality brands we have in racing and competition, the bigger our sport can get. Somebody must know something because this year there are a lot of companies getting into dirt bikes.

Interesting times for sure. I can't claim to be an expert on the Kove brand but I did some research on the rally which seemed positively received. From what I saw the company is a passion project of the owner who loves dirt bike racing and dreamed of making top quality bikes, can't fault them on that no matter where they are from.

I could never claim to be a fan of Chinese production, I definitely feel better that I open a part for my KTM that says made in Austria, and most of what I own is older or locally sourced by choice but the reality is I type this on a laptop likely constructed in China with my phone made in China, probably wearing clothes all made in China we can't really avoid it so much these days.

I will also say that even if that bike rides like a factory 450 and costs 4k I wouldn't want to be seen dead on it, it is not a good looking machine!

The way to impress is get that thing in the GPs and in America and win some titles, bold claims and spec sheets mean nothing without dynos, scales and results.

Not sure if you have bought any new KTM oem parts, but some literally say made in China.

I love the color of the Kove, looks visibibly different from anything on the market. Graphics could use some work, but most people change those out regardless.

Seriously bad color, but I think this will turn out better than many people think.  I think Kove had 3 rally bikes in the last Dakar and all finished, something Yamaha wasn't able to do the year before.  The 450 rally bike that is being sold through GPX in Utah has been getting some nice reviews.  Somewhere on youtube is a good and detailed review by Jimmy Lewis as well.

Nope hes right. China implemented the 1 child policy for decades which meant families could only have 1 kid and the vast majority chose boys. Add to that the fastest industrialization in history which always drops birth rates plus the fastest urbanization in history which also massively drops birth rates in all developed nations and chinas demographic profile is waaay below the 2.1 children per woman that is required just to keep a population the same let alone grow. Every developed nation on earth has below replacement level demographic problems yes including the us, but the difference is most of the worlds advanced economies allow lots of immigration to make up the difference (besides japan). The only reason why the us’ population is growing still is due to immigration. China essentially doesnt allow any meaningful level of immigration so combined with their demographic problems their population is predicted to drop by over half by 2100 from 1.4 billion to 600 million. Thats the largest drop in history. Add to the fact that its the fastest aging population and theres going to be no young ppl to consume or produce things and theyre going to be required to somehow prop up the elderly care of a massive elderly population. Its very bad. I’m not gonna go as far as some ppl and say china is gonna completely collapse, theyve been around for thousands of years theyll figure it out, but theyre already entering the middle income trap and theyre in for a lot of pain.

Anyways $3800 for this bike? Awesome. Its ugly as hell, but their sport bike looks great. Id love to see them put up a team and have a go at it. Time to get Ping out of retirement for another go with a chinese brand? Lets goo!! Haha.

I still haven’t heard back from Kove 😏

I would imagine there are distributors around, but I haven’t found them.

So, you pay $500 deposit, and then wait for container information.

lol what happened to the teal plastic.  Literally Honda, Gas-Gas, Beta, and Stark kinda, all of these bikes are red.

I hope they offer the Kove in teal as well. It would be a unique look, and a good thing especially if the bikes are dependable and make decent hp.

Looks like the 450 MX is not available yet on the kovemotousa site yet. It’s on the kovemoto.com site but there’s not a way to purchase it on the site (I’ve contacted them and waiting to hear back).

It looks like it is probably the first time they really nailed it except maybe for the look (which is still alright, quite different though). It is starting. I also wonder what the price would be with importers, adverts, full marketing budget, race teams, top riders, dealerships and taxes. The price would get much closer to what we know I guess. Other brands are not stupid eithers regarding their value chain/spend management/outsourcing/procurement. But great effort, they will get there now, soon or later.

By the time a US dealer/distributor signs on, that $3800 bike from China will end up costing just as much as a proven Japanese bike. Too bad we can't buy direct from China to bypass the inane markups.

Don’t support China by buying cheap knock off products using copied technology.

All you guys are always so Pro- American, yet when Cheap Chinese knock off product  comes to the USA you want to jump on it because of the price?

KTM and the Japanese OEMs have spent billions of dollars building their brands and establishing a long standing presence in the United States and Europe.  These Kove guys just copy the best things from each brand, slap some of the copied parts together, and ship containers full of these bikes to America.

China is not our friend.

Buy from companies who support our country by being here for decades.

Same late 60s and early 70s argument...pick your battles. I bet there are plenty of cheap things from countries that dgaf about the USA that Americans buy on the regular. Maybe someone hates cheap denim, well...go find some 200 dollar Jean then. It is all borrowed and mimicked tech anyway.

Have you ever heard of alibaba or aliexpress? Its like the chinese version of ebay but you buy direct from the manufacturer. Heres a cnc machine for 500 bux.

Maybe US Companies should consider offering a $4000 dirt bike to cut the Chinese out of that market segment

This same argument was probably used in the 70s when Japanese manufacturers were breaking into the market. Open your mind to new possibilities. We are all on this small rock together.

According to a Kove rep, the red plastic was for the 23 models, and the 24 models should come in the teal.

The website states 37.5hp and 237 pounds dry for the 250. I don't think it's supposed to be a mainstream competitor, but rather a good entry level motocross bike for a new rider. That segment is unfilled in this industry and it desperately needs to be filled. You can buy an entry level car (Mazda 2, Honda fit, etc), but when it comes to MX bikes (not trail) you are forced to go used if you can't spend 9-12k on a new 250F.
