I make $2k a month and my bills are fairly low (around $1k a month). I sacrifice a lot of luxuries like going out for food and vacations and bigger purchases like dirtbikes (not having a bike is probably my biggest sacrifice and was the most difficult thing to give up but I get my fix riding BMX). I live very simply and would consider myself a minimalist although my vinyl collection would tell you differently 😂
It really just comes down to budgeting and what you’re willing to sacrifice. I did not start living this way with any sort of nest egg either. Moved to Seattle in 2017 with $500 to my name. You’d be surprised how many people can live on even less than this.
I am very grateful for what I have which is a big part of being content with so little.

Definitely a lot of people not honest about their salaries these days. Plenty of people earning $25k a year or less and still able to keep a roof over their head and basic expenses covered.

Yes, I have a bathroom (it’s like an RV bathroom with no sink/vanity). I used to live in an 80sq. ft. space with shared bathrooms in NYC before moving to Seattle so this was actually an upgrade 😂
If there's one other thing than his easy going personality that Pourcel's aknowledged for in the mx business, it's telling the honest truth in all circumstances.

I myself have been there.... It sucked, but over time, things improved. Funny though, you never seem to forget the ways you HAD to have to get by during those lean times. You never forget about looking into the dollar isle, and at times see that it was also a gimmick to trick you into spending on a product. I don't miss those days, but I damn sure have never forgotten the lessons they taught me. BMX was also my cheaper solution to Moto.... So, now I've created another habit that could get out of hand if I don't watch myself! Keep on trucking my man, better days are ahead I promise...... Thank you, It can be done can't it? You probably don't piss away income on video games, lottery tickets, fast food, and weed. Probably don't bet on NBA, NFL, or other pro sports either. I have friends living paycheck to paycheck on 180k a year, and others living large on 50k. No financial literacy in this country.
I know a guy who makes 40k a week and lives check to check like lower middle class. alot of it is business expense, but over a thousand a week in eating out and gas station nonsense, tobacco, monsters, and other stupid gimmicks. I told him jokingly one time i could make him 50k a year and pay myself 50k a year if he would let me be his financial controller and we laughed, but I am right lol.

You have to be joking right? You are going to cite financial literacy when I scroll up 5 comments you are arguing whether a lease for an apartment is qualified as "debt" or not? (PS: It is most certainly NOT). The only liability related to a lease that qualifies as debt would be what you are obligated to pay if you break the lease or end it for any reason, which most leases is one months worth of rent or if you have any unpaid rent past due (obviously).
I think many would benefit from reading a personal finance guide and turn off the dave ramsey or other misleading nonsensical "financial" talking heads.

I never mentioned apartments or leasing. I mentioned mortgages, and of you pay it off you can be debt free. I believe it is legal in some states to do that now, despite what many people insist.
From what I understand in Owen’s message it’s $40k gross revenue a week on the business (about $2 millions revenue a year), depending the industry of the business it could be only a 10% profit margin (that would be quite tight margin if you have any big unplanned expenses ) so net $4k a week after all expenses. Which would equal to $16k a month, about $200k EBITDA a year.
Still a good living but not as big as you would think, especially in expensive states.
