Not trying to be pompous, but who is retiring at age 28-30 with $2mm in the bank with a life expectancy of +80?

Today a meal is +$20, Gas is +$6 a gallon in Calif....it is not cheap to live today.

Sometimes there is real value in signing a deal with a good team, for a less than normal salary, and prove to all with strong results that you are worth more money, and sign a better deal next year.  Re-establish your relevance and worth, and then get rewarded.  Not the other way around.

2m in the bank at 28 is enough to retire from racing for anything less than a worthwhile contract…

Pourcel had a world championship, 2 sx titles and just missed out on back to back 250 mx titles all after suffering a crash that left him paralyzed for a time and lose of some of his intestinal  track causing major health issues for the rest of his life. Both guys were not as hard to deal with as people make it seem to be.

He had a ride in his hand if he wouldn’t have been greedy. RV just took a huge pay cut to re sign with Kawasaki, Pourcel wanted top dollar and it wasn’t happening. Fisher got tired of negotiating, needed a rider and signed Wiemer.

That, and putting FMF pipes on the bikes cost mike Fisher his job.

You live off the interest of 1 mill, if you’re debt free, you’ll be fine. Then you let the other 1 mill build wealth until you’re 55-60 and then you live like a king.

Bingo. 1 mil will turn into several million from 28-60 just sitting in mutual funds.

Fisher never made CP377 an offer, but created the gossip that the deal didn't happened due to CP377 wanting too much money. This resulting in a lot of teams not even trying to get in touch with his agent "because he was even too expensive for Monster Energy Kawasaki".

This legitimized also signing Weimer.

Don't forget that Pourcel came from Pro Circuit, back then a team that payed peanuts but big bonuses. If they made him suchlike offer he would have raced for them. But again Fisher did what RV2 asked him: "Don't bring in a second rider whose potentially a intern and/or title treat."

My mortgage is $1,300/mo, I’d have plenty leftover out of that $50k.

Tits and ice you dimwits have gotten so off path it isn’t even funny. Happy to see Dylan finding a home, and here is to hoping he is happy and gets the bike how he likes it. Like him or not, the guy is a beast and adds a ton of value to our sport and that is to be respected. Dylan is the man

Ferrandis has talent and Fast. He’s had a few tough years with injuries and so called being difficult to work with. He’s going to have to take a pay cut and prob be on a “B” team. This should fire him up and put in some solid results. If he does that I can see him getting back on a top teir team. Just depends on how much he wants it and what he’s willing to sacrifice to get back on top. 2mil in this day and age is nothing to retire on with him being  young still.

What kind of life are you guys living?  I live in California and could retire with 2 mil.

1 mil on a house, so  with minimal to no monthly debt, 1 mil in a high yield savings is doable for a modest lifestyle

No way you can live off 2M at 30 yrs old for the rest of your life, I don’t care where you live, if you want a decent standard of living. Inflation the way it is and will continue to be!!  No way that works. If you think can do it, more power to you.

Do you forget that up until a year ago "high yield" accounts were 1-2%? You can get 5 now but if history is a predictor that won't last.

I’d assume the guys saying you can are talking about investing, I’m terrible with money and would do more than fine with 2 million dollars in the right places

I don't think anyone here questions his speed or skills in SX. It's more about his starts. He probably is the worst starter out of the factory guys in the last years. Whenever he has a decent start, he landed on the podium and showed that he can run with anyone. Even with bad starts he often matches the top guys lap times. But starts are part of the game, and fact is that if you constantly start outside the top 10 in SX, it's really hard to battle for wins/podium.

Also injuries of course, but a lot of guys are getting injured as we have seen this year.. But Dylan seems to have a lot of extra bad luck, kinda sad.

Obviously... but if you watched him on the 250, in 09-10 he could have done very well with a better package... in my opinion.

I only really learned one thing from this thread...DV has definitely become Americanized. Woohoo

Always been a fan of straight shooters.  Most of the French riders are just that...DV has figured out how to express himself in Yankee...lol.
