I think Star is just providing cover. They would've gone.

You really believe Deegan was like- “ I don’t want to represent”? Come on some of you ..easy to believe shit or just straight up make it up. Bad side of VitalMx..

He said, himself, in the interview that's been referenced that he had raced 11 months straight and he needed a break.

You don't need to be a hater nor a fan boy come to the conclusion that he wasn't going to answer the call this year.

Haiden also admitted that he he was ready for a break and a mental reset. Although he said he would have went if Yamaha was willing to send him. The U.S series is insanely long and competitive. I couldn’t imagine being a 17 year old rookie running the full schedule at the pace that Deegan ran every week.

It is always easy for us keyboard warriors to make assumptions about a person/ team. Evidently it is easy for us to spend other people’s money as well.

But bashing a kid's patriotism is so much fun..  I can see even in some of the comments here, folks are still not willing to accept that he was willing to go - everything they are reading and hearing just can't be true because it kills their anti-Deegan, and anti-American agenda.

I know, downvote, don't care.  It is true.

Selective quote..again you claimed he said - I don’t want to represent- completely false and you know it….Why make shit up?

I hope you're not counting me among those who you claim are bashing the kids patriotism, because I'm not.

But he did say, in a sort of ham-handed marketing line that he was glad to, "put the American up front," in a podium speech. If he didn't want this smoke, he shouldn't have tried to appeal to our patriotic instincts for some cheap shots at Hunter, Jo and Tom.

So, you're triggered over my use of the word, "represent," instead of, say, "volunteer?"

He actually said he would go if Yamaha was willing to send him, the complete opposite of what you claimed..oh well..I guess making up things got you the response you wanted. I’ll bow out..

If Yamaha didn't want to send him, I'd imagine they wanted to wait a year, let him gain a bit more experience, then go next year in a position to put the Yz up front, maybe with Tomac going as well.

Then go back to my original quote in this thread. If somebody can show me a documented report of Star Racing saying that they wouldn't support the MXdN this year PRIOR to Matthes stating on his podcast that Deegan wasn't going, I'll gladly admit that I was wrong.

This just looks like corporate cover to me. As someone else stated in this thread, it sure is easy for Deegan to say he would have gone now.

As a military veteran, I get the same feeling when someone tells me they, "almost signed up."

That's why I didn't bother to watch. Dude loves to put up clickbait. Even in the title of the vid it said "his rivalry with the Lawrence's." The Lawrence's plural? Hunter, sure. Is there a rivalry with Jett, who he's never raced before and isn't even in the same class?

I don’t even get the supposed Hunter rivalry; how can you have a rivalry with someone you’ve never passed? Meanwhile they’ve blown by you heaps of times….it’s a Deegan beat up and nothing more.

I was told by someone who would know that the Deegans did not want to go, then the team covered for them by saying they (Star) were the ones who made the decision not to go.

I did that in another thread and you're welcome to go look it up but in a nutshell DC, Mike Pelletier, Paul Perebijnos, Weege and now Deegan himself has said publicly that Star made the call not to go…but regardless of all that you have a “theory” that they are all lying….sometimes you just have to admit that you are wrong….

Interesting.  DonM? This guy's credibility vs. all interested parties? And they ALL went on the record BEFORE it leaked out that Deegan didn't want to go?

And yep, it's just a theory.

Sorry but that’s bullshit….the facts are out there in the open but yet you have a theory based on hearsay….

So what are you doing? It looks like you're basing your opinion on hearsay from Paul Perebijnos, et al.? Were you there?

There is nothing wrong with us debating this on an open forum when there is ample reason to believe the dude just didn't want to go to France.

It was said and reported publicly by credible people in the industry and media so that’s not hearsay…it wasn’t taking a rumor that nobody can corroborate and trying spread it as fact as some on here are trying to do….but like I’ve said before if you think that DC, Mike Pelletier, Paul, and Weege are all conspiring to mislead the moto community….well then keep riding the tinfoil wave…

Only 1 person in this thread (nrosso391) alluded to the right question… Who was Star Racing waiting for to clarify terms before time ran out?

1. AMA

2. YAMAHA Corporate

3. Who else?

I'm positive that all-American Bobby Regan's Star Racing team, and ego-centric, click-driven, Team Deegan would have went. It sort of baffled me why Brian would have missed MXdN.

The BS in the video… "I needed to take time off to recover and rest." Well contrast that from a 17 year old, with the rest of the field of older AMA and GP athletes that raced all year and still did the MXdN.

Nice save.

Waiting on Sexton in or out.

He was willing to go if he felt he was going with the best team. Otherwise, he would prefer a day off.

Waiting for the day this kid weans himself off of his daddy.

He's an awesome talent on the bike.

So much so that he needs to seriously separate himself from the soap opera drama associated with his dad's bullshit.

He and that bike can speak for themselves.

He also raced Mini Os in November (one of the most impressive amateur rides I've ever seen), straight into supercross prep. Really do get him wanting a break. Especially as a high school aged kid

This.

I wonder when he gets sick of the branding around him, it’s cringy asf. Living out his dads dream.

His riding speaks for itself, he doesn’t need a ‘Marketing Genius Father’. I do really like Brian’s approach at the beginning of the season, expectations, being realistic. As soon as he became a title threat, the downside of Brian really came out in my opinion.

The "terms" were probably 60k like Ferrandis is rumored to have asked to the french federation, to cover all the expenses to bring their bikes and team. The deadline was Friday, they didn't get the green light, so they didn't go. I think it is very simple. Ok to race for free but no way to spend 60k just for 1 race that generates actually so much for the promoter and, as it was very successful, to the organizer which also highly rely on unpaid volunteers.

His Dad's marketing genius made him the most popular rider in the States before he even turned pro. Kid is 17. He should be out living on his own?

C'mon fellas...anyone with eyes can see Deegan is the real deal.  He is an elite talent.

But, there is no denying the Capt America bullshit they played up all summer.

Sadly, when we needed him it was..."If Sexton ain't going...neither am I".  Basically...if we can't win...I'm out.

I've said it before...what he does is ENTIRELY his business...how I feel about it is MINE.

I'd suggest you stay off social media if you're that sensitive about people saying negative things about riders. Vital is tame as fuck
