That’s probably true and it’s also understandable. But I kept repeatedly reading comments coming into this season that unlike others who roll over and accept defeat, Deegan would fight back and never give up. That’s a dig at the fans saying that stuff, not Deegan himself, who was gracious and generous in his post race comments. He rode an excellent race and he’s only going to get better.

If Deegan talks like that on the podium all season he’s gonna convert the haters

I personally think it was more Deegan accepting 3rd and backing it down. I think he worked hard to hold him off that long. If Hunter was that much faster all race the move would have been made much faster.

I think he got the whole arrest and tow car treatment because all these states are cracking down on the street takeover burnouts in the middle of intersections shit, but that wasn't really what he was doing. I think its pretty normal for a 19 year old especially one that is close with his parents to want to call them if they are being arrested. Also hopefully he never hangs out with that guy in the passenger seat again that guy was a loser.

He had every right to think he had the pass made, except for his own admission that Tomac had just made the pass on him. He was aware. This is majority blame pie to Marchbanks. And if he clearly has the better pace then why is he getting passed.

Situational awareness was certainly lacking for Marchbanks. He admitted that Eli passed him and he wanted to pass him right back on the first lap. It's not a racing incident. It's an average pro rider forcing the issue at the wrong place at the wrong moment with an all time legend of the sport. Tomac does NOT let off and was clearly ahead of the #36 coming out of the corner. He floated outside WTFO and blasted Tomac....

I don’t see how your analysis on Tomac is correct. Tomac held his line exactly where that corner leads you out. He still had right lean to his bike he came out so fast, so merging to his left like your saying, I just don’t see it. Secondly, Marchbanks even admits in his post race that he wanted to get Tomac back, so clearly he was motivated. I don’t think the consensus is Marchbanks did this purposely, but I do think he lacked race awareness in that moment.
