Kinda like how people are brushing over the fact of riding illegally on federal land and getting in an altercation with a police officer?
Big maybe. If the young fellow that lost his father and ate some lead initiated the physical contact I am 99% sure it would have been indicated.
Since we don’t know the whole story, I’m assuming the answer to your question is a security guard getting beat up by a couple guys on dirt bikes?
I did, but looking back on it I probably shouldn't have. I think the first sentence did it. I find today's coddled, can-do-no-wrong children are a contributing factor to today's declining society.
Sorry if offensive and I love my son more than anything in the world but if he's resisting arrest, or starting something then that's on him. I'm not running to his defense strictly because he's my son. There are consequences to one's actions and sometimes it's more than deserved but that's the position you put yourself in.
I hate someone died as much as anyone especially someone in our small community. But I'm not ready to fire up the torches at some guy who was doing his job when I have no clue what the circumstances were.

"rent a pig" you sound like pure antifa trash.
I hear you and I needed to look it up myself. If you go to street view (picture 1) there is no signage, no fencing, and there are plenty of walk paths and riding paths that go from the street into the property. Picture 2 is the top view of the property and I circled the 'street view pic' in red and the moto trails in green.
Seems like a million miles from 'no warning signs or fences' to shooting somebody and their kid. Fuck!
Yep,ignorant
Sad deal for all involved.
Grew up riding many of BPA powerline trails and little tracks around the powerlines in Washington State in the 80's & 90's. Never had any issues other than getting checked for a ORV tag from time to time by game wardens. Always thought most of the powerline trails were recreational easements. Perhaps a lot has changed up there,
You need to watch the video and read the witness statements. The pictures you showed may be fine to be there, but where this occurred was littered with no trespassing and warning signs. The witnesses specifically said it was clearly posted.....and regardless if they physically attacked someone and he feared for his life than using his weapon was justified. This could happen with or without no trespassing signs. You have a right to defend yourself and based on witness statements that is what happened.
This area and this parking/staging lot seem to be the area in question based on the news video. You can see a well-defined track on street view. You can also see the yellow no-trespassing signs. All considering google street view does not necessarily represent current-day.
Just trash
Awful lot of people on here throwing down some serious trash from points of total ignorance.
At this point we don't know what happened. It could've been the riders who escalated things. It could've been the security guard. We'll have to wait for details. I'm not going to assume either way.
This is my point about one set of rules.
If the security guard felt his life was threatened, is he allowed legally to shoot the other person even if he happens to be the one who escalated the interaction?
If that's the case, how is that different from the dad or son feeling that their lives were in danger, because the cop was losing his temper?
It's not.
There should be one set of rules of engagement for all to follow.
In my experience, most LEO's do a great job, and are there for the right reasons.
Confrontation and escalation are 2 different things here. Of course they were confronted. What we don't know is how things escalated.
Totally understand, but sorry I can't justify a killing.
If justified use of force is not indicated here that is the nicest thing I will ever say about him.
I'm trash, lol. You guys must think your something really special.
Pit Row
Here's my armchair quarterback crime scene analysis after watching a few videos like this one below.
I'm leaning toward John Franklin and his son being good people. John owned a business and took his boys to ride often at the local track where they volunteered time to help water the track, pick rocks from the track, etc. The track owner described him as a great person, and so did another associate at an auto body shop. It's possible John was a raging asshole who picked fights with everyone, but I'm not buying that.
If you zoom in from aerial view you will see a ton of turn tracks scattered around the property. According to the track owner everyone has been riding there for years and there have never been problems with security. He even mentioned the Sheriff's drive by without concern. So I'm going to say they were riding at their normal spot (illegal) and got rolled up on by a puffy chested security guard (contractor) who came in really hot. Most of you know exactly what I'm talking about. Some of these power tripping security guards have something to prove. With that said, words were exchanged and things escalated quickly, i.e. "calm down we're leaving, we've been riding here for 20 yrs, what are you going to do, shoot us??"
Now I could be wrong, and for whatever reason the polite security guard was simply asking them very nicely to leave and the Dad and Son decided to jump out of their truck and start beating him for no reason.
Another thing that is troubling to me is why did he shoot both people. After he shot the first person why the need to shoot the other? Normally when the shooting starts one won't charge a gunman. These people where unarmed.
Maybe the kid gave him lip maybe he didn't. If you let that turn into shooting two people your not very good at your job and don't need to be carrying a gun.
Been in a lot of gunfights, have ya?
Every one of your posts is ignorant, self-righteous nonsense and you can't have a reasonable disagreement with anyone.
Only thing any of us "know" is based on the news and eyewitness statements - if you have ever been involved in ANY critical incident, you would know hardly any actual facts come from the news or the people they choose to interview.
Let’s try to keep this respect full and stay on point!
It used to be that when you were the one technically doing the wrong thing, you had to be super chill and apologetic when you got called out on it. These days, everyone thinks they're so fucking amazing that it doesn't matter, you do the wrong thing and you do it with assertive prideful chest-puffing awesomeness.
Yep, and the results can go bad.
My aren't you the expert on all things concerning me. Thanks for the personal attack and lack of facts.
That’s not a personal attack. If you think it is, maybe a public discussion forum is the wrong place for you.
"Lack of facts"...... pretty ironic coming from you....especially since you've been all about making up your own facts in this thread.
Do you find it ironic that everyone here thinks your an idiot but somehow you think you're the smartest guy in the room?
Go ahead.....let's hear your bullshit follow up that is going to deflect from the fact that yet again you don't have fucking clue what you're talking about......
Whats facts? And I'm the idiot?
This was not a LEO, it was a contracted security guard that likely receives much less training then a federal trained and employed LEO.
He fired 3 or more shots.
I’m not taking sides, just putting that out there.
