I think another team is Sextons only option, because I think it's clear now that Jett Lawrence is better on the Honda, but unless Factory KTM comes out with something really special for him to race, I think he's going to struggle his first year.  Will definitely be interesting to watch though, in fact all the changes are going to be fun.

It will not be because of the bike, the team, or the resources available to him if he doesn’t at least do the same.  All the elements, including Chase are more than capable of winning, it’s just ensuring there’s the correct mixture of each.

Seems like a level headed kid who takes criticism well and wants to be better every day. Roger has done well with those types in the past. I think being with a team that puts all of its heart behind your success is a boon, too. I think he does better. Championship? Hard to say, but he’ll keep the Honda guys honest.

Has anyone gone to ktm and done better other than Webb and arguably RD

Really, he hasn't been listening to the front end of his Honda for a couple of years now.

Will depend if the bike allows him to ride how he wants ride which is heavy on the footpegs, if it doesn't he's going to further change his style which has a bit this year, I think he will be better but so will Jett.

The factory KTM is as solid as they come. The change will be good for Sexton. He’ll do better. He still won’t beat Jett, but I can see him getting second in MX. Unfortunately, I bet Hunter gets second in SX. There’s a very good chance that Hunter gets second in MX as well.

If the Austrian switch for a smooth rider like Craig or a whoop speedster like Mookie are any indication, I’d say he might struggle with the change..but I think he’ll figure it out and that the KTM structure will suit him fine

It may take a while / few races. But I think the KTM will suit him well

I don't see him having the weirdo crashes like he has been having. But I also don't see him crushing whoops like he can either

I don’t know how he will do on the KTM but I know one thing; he should absolutely keep the #23 instead of switching to #4

Unfortunately his time has come and gone. It's the Lawrence world in the USA motocross series now, soon to be joined by Deegan and who the hell knows which fast rookie (Hymas, Bennick?) that will catch fire. I also get the indication from Cooper's interviews, and Dungey and Carioli's summer attempts that Roger and Ian can be hard to work for.

Dungey decided to unretire after 5yrs and Roger gave him a bike but he's hard to work for? Cooper said it though. The guy who tries to take summers off, admitted he mailed it in at team Yamaha, etc

Plessinger.

I hope there is some magic in the Austrian bike because this summer's preview of what is to come looks kind of boring.

I'm pretty sure Chase is still 23 or just turned 24 years old... his time is far from over. Sure, he'll have very difficult competition for probably the rest of his career, but so has every other great rider. He has plenty of time to either improve or have a little bit of luck swing his way at one point or another.

Yeah people saying his time has come and gone are ridiculous. He is 24, Hunter is 24, hell Austin Forkner is 25.

DeCoster publicly berated both Dungey and Carioli in public and in the press for results that were not good enough for him repeatedly. If you recall Dungey had a pretty sudden about face concerning continuing his comeback.

I don't think it's the bike that made him crash out of half his race leads. I hope Chase proves me wrong, but I don't see him getting any better because of a bike change.

9/25/2023 9:44am

It's in his name he's destined to Chase

I am a Chase fan. I am not a KTM fan. Mr. Webb’s problem was not the bike, he was just over racing, and could not hide that fact. Roger does, to my incredibly small body of knowledge, seem to be tough to work with. This coming from a huge fan of his during my youth. Time to wait and see.

Chase is hard enough on himself. Having RD and Aldon on him all the time honestly i don't think will be good for him. but who knows it could help him focus if he can let go and TtP(tm). but he's got to let go. he's too wound up.
