Who is world basketball champion ? Germany or the Denver nuggets ? 🤔
You people are so weird. Who gives a s**t wtf they call it? Is this all you can think to bitch about?
It was a great series, great tracks, and very entertaining thanks DC and crew.
Nomenclature is important and the very foundation of how governance of Motorsport works.
Says so on the trophy.

I personally think the MXON is the best " world championship" in Moto cross. ( only when all countries send their best riders)
You get the best riders all on the same track for one weekend , nowhere to hide, no excuses
My theory is that this unique supercross/motocross mashup of a series is like no motorcycle racing series in existence anywhere else on the planet.
it isn’t like MXGP -
it isn’t like WSX-
So, they can call it the SMX world championship - just like the NFL can call the Super Bowl winner a world champion, because no other organized sport in the world is anything like it.
Because you can be from anywhere in the world and race for the championship.
How is this even a topic. It’s the racers racing each other not the locations racing each other.
I like to pretend they added some additional races just to give me something to do on a Saturday night, and for that, they can call it whatever they want .
Just to add fuel to the fire. The World Motocross Championship has Europeans battling Europeans mainly in Europe for championships. This 250 SMX class at certain times had riders from 4 different continents in the top 4 positions. The 450 SMX title came down to the wire with 3 continents represented. Also there were multiple ethnicities represented SMX in the top 10 as well if you were to grab Lawerence, Shimoda and Swoll that’s diversity battling at front other series do not offer.
All that being said it’s all marketing bull shit. So who cares. Everytime let’s say MX national or MXGP broadcaster says these are the fastest riders In the world someone gets all twisted. Their literally paid to say that.
The funny thing is that americans are world champions in creating their own world championships that only exist in US.
Here's a question - if the 2 time "World champion can barely finish top 5 in a national championship, then how can you call him a "World champion"?
Always cracks me up how Euros think just because they get a bunch of tiny little European countries together that now it's the "world".
But have racers from all over the world.
One champion and the two runner-ups are not from America. Enough diversity from around the world to me.
And baseball players from all over the world. And basketball players from all over the world. Etc, etc. You come here if you want compete against the best. Except soccer. We don't care about that shit lol
I'm sure Adam Bailey, who pays FIM a shitload of money to call his titanic two races series an official "world championship", loves hearing RC saying 338 times in one evening how great the "SMX world championship" is, while Feld and MXsports don't pay a cent for the name...
It’s because USA doesn’t like to be called national level riders.
You can call your championship whatever you want. No, it isn’t a world tour nor does it claim to be one. World Champion means best in the world. Nobody said World Tour Champion.
How do we know MR UNIVERSE is the best in the universe?
Pit Row
Stop grasping at straws, this is just a super final at your two NATIONAL series.
This super duper motorcross world championship has as much weight as Heath Voss’ 2004 “World Supercross Championship” title and JS7’s 2006 world six title. Different AMA supercross title winners but you race a couple other races now you’re the champion. I think to a lot of people it means nothing. It’s diluted.
The racing was phenomenal. Tracks were cool! It was fun to watch and I dug it a lot! Glad I went to the coliseum but the whole title aspect is kind of reaching.
Does this mean the “WORLD Supercross championship” title holds more weight than the little old national Supercross title?
Madmax31 will be covering these issues for a lot of us. I’ve got to go out and rIde my Husky now.
Racers come from other countries to America to race Loretta Lynns National Championship every year so why is it not called the Loretta Lynns World Amateur Championship?
Because we have a real FIM junior world championship (that also american kids go to)
Everytime I see that discussion I have to watch this again. 😂
If they want to call the nationals or SX a world championship they can. The series is open to riders all over the world. The SX series scares most of the riders from other countries away.
Its not world championship. They just call it what they want.
Pretty sure FIM has the rights to call their series world championship, not AMA.
just like when there was a shit storm around the world enduro championship a couple of years ago and KTM/Husky left the series and created their own ”new” world championship, but they could not call it that since FIM had the rights to it.
It’s not complicated: the series is open to anyone in the world willing and able to participate. The 450 class alone has multiple non-US participants and was just won by a dominant Australian.
The United States is host to numerous “world championship” sporting events. Championships that are US only would only allow US citizens/participants, and are usually amateur events, not professional.
So the Dutch championship in MX is a world championship because 98% of all the mxgp riders from different countrys ride it?
The SMX is not a world championship since the only way you qualify for it is to ride the american national Mx and sx series. This has NOTHING to do with the series being open for riders from other countrys, they are still just the american national championships.
You’re overthinking this. Or perhaps underthinking it. Either way, no one gives a shit as much as you.
