I think the performance of the season is getting lost in all the banter about Jett laying up and pulling over. I say it's the performance of the season because no one else has been able to hang with Jett other than Chase a couple times, and I think we all expect that of Chase. While the drunk production crew was busy showing a battle for 10th for what seemed an eternity, all I could do was keep my eye on timing and scoring and notice Kenny maintaining the gap, lap after lap. Once they finally did get back to Jett and Kenny, I was surprised to see Kenny able to reel in Jett in some areas with some smooth lines. As much of a Kenny and Suzuki fan I am, I'll admit I expected to see that gap widen throughout the moto just as it did in the first moto with Chase. But that didn't happen. Kenny was on absolutely on the gas and had some "freaky fast" lines. Performance of the year from a guy who doesn't race much and rides my favorite outdated yellow pig, and just had new son born this week. He smoked a field of fast factory riders and did not fade.
As for the "incident", I believe Jett was completely baffled as to how the yellow bike was able to stay on his rear fender. I do believe Jett did the math (incorrectly) while under constant pressure, but I don't believe he pulled over to "gift" Kenny. When you are setting records like Jett you don't give away a moto win. Jett knew he was going to get the overall, so decided it wasn't worth taking the chance of getting passed straight up by Kenny, or running into lappers, or making a mistake.
Congrats to Ken, Suzuki, Wife, Son, and new baby on an amazing ride. I hope Kenny's speed carries over into what should be a more supercross style track next weekend. If I'm Kenny, I'm not liking the baby gift comment from the young chap.
You sure make a lot of posts about Jett.
The starter button has an aero drag that holds the other bikes back. #physics.
I'd say Kenny proved that he CAN do it.
Can he KEEP doing it?
I hope he does. And I'm also glad he's doing it on the Suzi. Old and out of date but still effective on the battlefield.
Edit...Suzuki is the A-10 of moto. Old and dated but in the right hands...dangerous.
No, Jett thought that he would create a larger points gap to Sexton and at the same time Ken was gifted the win as a result of it, not the internal intention.

Have said it many times. None of these bikes have substantially changed in years. Lot of bold new graphics and sales pitches about the latest and greatest fancy new thing. Especially in 450 world where power hasn't been limiting factor in a while. Suzuki has one glaring thing missing, but the notion that the other bikes have left it in the dust just isn't reality.
That scrub on the second double when he was along side of jett was unreal.
It was smart for Jett to pull over and not risk wadding up trying to run Kenny's speed. Jett has a ton of race craft for realizing when to back it down.
Jett was running faster lap times than Ken.
This is what I was thinking.
The timer says you're right but...I repeat...focus. Maybe Jett realized he was losing it...and you can't do that at warp speed.
You could see how proud he was of himself after the race for thinking he got the math right and stole points off Chase.
He looked happier than after a moto win. His math ultimately didnt work out which makes him look stupid.
I don't think there's a reason to doubt him. We've seen him fight to win undervm a hell of a lot more pressure than this. But it's his shit eating grin and pride about telling us immediately afterwards that seals it. He genuinely thought he was gaining more points by doing it and that everyone would be impressed by his quick thinking.
Ultimately it might have had different psychological effects on Ken and Chase than he planned. Might light a fire under them because they can see just how high on confidence he is. Makes the next round a lot more interesting.
Though i still think each moto paying points makes more sense. Especially when the series is so short
Ken proving that the "long in the tooth" Suzukis are still incredible machines.
It's a non-factory racing team too....
With Sextons history of hitting the dirt, i don’t think that Jett is the looser of light a fire under them. Jett is his own worst enemy, neither Sexton or Ken is.
So, you’re calling the Suzuki a Warthog?
Lol...not me. I worked the Warthog from '85 to '89 at Bentwaters/Woodbridge England. I love that thing like I love bulldogs. And I've always believed the Suzuki 450 is the most rider adaptable bike out there. They just work.
You guys are tripping
How many times do these bikes come out with all new updates and the bikes end up being worse than the previous model, it then takes them 3 years to get the new bike up to the level of the previous good model. Sometimes not everything new is better, and Kenny is proving that in the right hands the Suzuki is still a weapon and more than capable.
You say that like it's a bad thing

Pit Row
The only reason the Zook is still out there, despite the lack of updates, is because it has always been such a "tuneable" platform. It may not be exceptional in any dept but it doesn't suck either.
If Suzuki had the budget of 2005 to 2008...this wouldn't be a subject.
He seems like the only guy with any wow factor out there right now, except Jett .
And that's a shame because Chase is exceptional. Problem is ...that Aussie kid is exceptional plus 1...and has an "aww shucks" personality. Hard combo to beat.
Brain fart by Jett, lesson learnt.
Kenny wins the Coliseum and unites the “World” Supercross Championship Belts.
Suzuki probably won’t spring for bold new graphics now for the new model with that Moto win.
Suzukis haven't had bold new graphics in four model years.
If Kenny was third or fourth a lot of us would be way wrong, me included. But that he is fighting for podiums, sometimes winning, proves a lot of us ( me! ), including experts, are full of shit. Mr. Roczen is one of the all time greats, this field isn't so deep, Lawrence isn't so tough, the Suzuki isn't a bad bike, Roczen proves a lot every time he races...
I concur, it isn’t as black and white and some would think. Excellent ride by both guys for different reasons. For Jett it was a lesson while doing the right thing. He is thinking long game as well as being respectful. I admire the kid for doing it his way. As for Kenny, man he pushed and it was amazing to see him on the throttle the entire race and I think he learned something that he won’t lead on to. But this is more than downright badass after all the guy has been through. I’m a huge fan.
I am cheering for Ken because there arent any bikes right now I am just dying to go buy. Maybe im getting old, ya im getting old. Pro V1's for $54.99 is a bargain though LOL
That old, outdated, has to be kicked to run, bike in stock form is far more than 97% of us mere mortals would ever need. And, in the hands of talent, It's a solid foundation for any of the elite to have success on. Every time he has been on the same track with Jett, he has been a complete thorn in his side going up against Honda's latest, greatest, MX wizardry to dominate...... Tech that he walked away from. Yes, heart alone can do miracles, but in this game, you need a solid foundation to work with. The Suzi is nothing to be ashamed of at all.... Ken this year has helped enforce that, very well.
All Suzuki needs to do to be back on top of the sales game is produce a 350 with electric start!
