Only $10 for all 2026 SX, MX, and SMX series.
That money only exists because of the combined series and the TV Contract that came about because of that combined series and extra races at the end.
But I'm sure you knew that right!? Since you are so much smarter than the rest of us "dorks"
If they are so worried about getting hurt riding a dirt bike they better not ride from now until Anaheim 1 I suppose....
What's fucking comical is you woulda done anything in your power to be in those races for the payday back when you were chasing the dream.....now you want to sit back and play some holier than thou shit talking expert that knows everything....hypocrisy at it's finest.
If some privateer like Masterpool wins a main, you best believe there will be some tears.
I think this whole inquiry of "do the riders care" is stupid. They're professionals. They get paid to race. They care because they are paid to be there. Same for pro SX and MX.
he whole notion that they do it for the love of competition, the love of racing, the pursuit of self-improvement is kind of naive. Yes those things factor into why they do it, especially guys in the 10-20 range who aren't getting paid all that much, but at the pointy end of the sport, money is the main motivating factor. Having a passion for the racing and the training certainly makes it easier, but that shit don't pay the bills.
I get the most pissed when riders get hurt practicing. Can you imagine the nerve of these dudes, getting hurt when nothing is on the line, riding around for free at the practice track just to miss the points-paying races. Ridiculous.
This is dumb on many levels. The top guys get paid, absolutely, and it's a job, but it isn't the win bonus that brings them to tears, overcome with emotion after their first win or a championship. Just because you get paid doesn't mean you don't care. They care. A lot.
And after the top 10-20 guys, there's a whole lot easier ways to make the money they are making. Again, they care, a lot.
My original point in asking is that while I never expected them to care about the SMX championship as much as they do supercross and outdoors, I'm surprised at how wide that gap seems to be.

We will see how long this lasts! My guess 3 years max.
Like it or not, care or not I think this was a smart move to create this playoff. The direction that things are going with the whole sport in America under one umbrella now and one TV contract sets things up nicely to gain in popularity imho. It may take a few years of fine tuning things but I think it is here to stay and ultimately the priority and prestige will move to winning the whole enchilada at the end of the year.
With the purses like this, I'm surprised there has not been more hype and talk about it. That's some serious coin throughout the top 20 in the 450 class (second snip below).
I wonder what the MFR's pay in rider bonuses, if anything, for the combined SMX championship beyond the respective SX and MX series?

5yr contract with NBC/Peacock...It would be nice if people would let the races happen before the negativity....
Whether any of us love or hate the way they set this up, I find it hard to believe that people are actually griping about it. Are there things that would be better off changed, of course. There’s always room for improvement. But in the grand scheme of things we are getting to witness more races. Is this really that bad? Idc if it’s Supercross, Motocross, Des Nations, Monster Cup, or whatever. If the big boys are going to battle it out for a big purse or pride I’m watching. Isn’t that what makes you a fan of the sport?
Oh the irony…..
Was I wrong?
Boy this sounds like something that’s been in the works for years, not something that was just thrown together at the last moment…
Well the MFG can pay whatever they want up to the what the rider wins and won’t be out a cent, you know since they are the ones getting the purse money
To be fair, I’d much rather them adjust the rules now as it’s the first time they’re trying a new format vs. sticking to their best guess years before it actually pans out. I still think they can actually change their rules about how the SMX races run a bit dramatically but it’s too late to make huge changes to what was promised for this season.
Not trying to be negative, my point if from the history of the sport. Any championship that has been added to MX or SX has not survived for long.
Not at all, I agree 100%, however you may have heeded your own advice with regard WSX.
I believe you misunderstood my question....
Again I refer to your ironic original statement…….
Pit Row
I have heard through a member of a satelite yamaha team that the teams are having to pay $40,000.00 to enter the series. Anyone know if this is true ? How would that work for the privateers ? You would have finish 11th in the 450 class to break even.
Just wait until they announce the new SUPER DUPER MX series (SDMX) next year. People's heads will explode. Points will be given for winning practice, fastest speed in the pits, and sickest tattoo.
LCQ could get a lil chippy with all this money on the line. Hell the main race could get a lil chippy lol.
The opposite usually happens in these when all positions pay well. The reward of going for a position isn't worth the risk of putting yourself out of the one you're already in.
Probably, and each year the payout will reduce by a big %.
It was just a big block to destroy WSX.
Bitter much...."But what if you're wrong." WSX destroyed itself if you think at any point that the US based teams were going to allow their racers to only race half the races that they have supported for decades I've got a desert oasis to sell you....SMX had absolutely zero to do with the demise of WSX....If WSX would have started as a fall series we would be talking about their success now...
Einstein didn’t know his phone number, cause he could look it up. They’ll figure it out when they need to. Some riders may be too focused on preparing for it to worry about stupid details their team can fill them in on when it matters. Usually the best strategy is go as fast as you can for as long as you can
