It seems that both the Lawrence brothers have the permission to race the MXdN. But who will be the third rider? Are they going for the Factory Kawasaki rider Mitchel Evans? Or Aussie MX1 champ Dean Ferris who knows Ernee too! Or are both Lawrence brothers racing the 450 bikes and bring in the Australian MX2 champ, who's also racing Honda, Wilson Todd. Another option is Jay Wilson but he isn't showing MXGP speed to be honest.
And this is a serious hot take. But should Jett think about dropping down to the MX2 class, because one or two strong MX2 results mostly decide the whole event? We've seen it in the past, and last year the fourth place from Justin Cooper was very important for the USA to win.
No brainer leaving Hunter on the 250. You wouldn’t take the thd guy racing the best quality 250 and move him for this year, they don’t have a good swap
The MX2 results do tend to determine the event, but only if you also have strong MX1/Open results.
What about Jay Wilson?
No way wilson
Lawrence bros,,, ferris or todd

Evans
If you put Jett on that same bike, and Hunter on Jetts bike... Then both are still on quality bikes nooh?! And the third rider in the open class has less pressure. Jett is a great starter and is able to beat 450 bikes from the line on a 250.

Ferris was disappointing last time he competed at this level, I'd say Evans
Evans isn't happy with his bike and I doubt the pressure of a potential MXdN winning team would help him out.
I thought Jed Beaton was a damn good rider on the 250, not sure between him and Jay Wilson. Matt Moss was actually pretty impressive at the end of last year, in WSX tho..
I'd say it's between Evans and Ferris and would bike availability/team support be the decider? I'd say Yamaha would look after Dean though
If all goes well it'll be one of their motos we throw away.. I bet it won't be though haha
As much as I'd like to see this younger generation of Aussies on the team... Dean is ripping, and close to his best right now – And i'd say our best chance at winning. And it sounds like Kawi is out so I doubt Mitch goes.
I’d put Beaton over Evans and Wilson
Unfortunatly Jay can't make the top 10 against 5 privateers.
I would have to roll with Ferris, after all his last us visit he managed a 2nd in a moto, Ernie is hard packed, he's my pick.
Why no Beaton option? IMO the only decision required is who for the Open class?
For me that’s between Ferris, Beaton or Evans.
Ferris- best choice on form, but would need a bike and does he want to go?
Beaton- still building on form, but an all Honda team equals easier logistics.
Evans- down a bit on form, but is based in Europe with a factory bike at his disposal.
Either could jed
Yeah I saw a recent interview where he said he'd love one last go.. So yep another retirement he's going back on haha
I think evans , although he’s had his struggles this year he’s still the fastest of the 3rd choices
I’d take anyone over Beaton, he has been so disappointing
Pit Row
IMO Ferris on current form then down to availability.
Evans (or Beaton) in the Open seems the best option to get at least a top 10 in the open class.
Australia is one of the favorites for sure, unless disasters happen I see them with 23 to 30 points.
I dunno, Evans has been consistently 1.5 to 2 mins behind the front guys in the MXGP class; Jay Wilson has been about the same in the AMA races. Neither is setting the world on fire.
Are there any good young MX2 guys? The Lawrences are going to be around for a while, and next year both will be on 450's so we need a good 250 rider that can develop.
I'm probably talking out my ass, but his bike has looked fucking awful all year.
Tiger Wood
Jed Beaton, Bailey Malkiewicz, Luke Clout where all very solid MX2 riders. But if Jed Beaton can't use a HRC Prepped MX2 bike, and Malkiewicz or Clout can't use a Factory Kemea Yamaha MX2 bike they are pretty much "no options".
I don't like the guy, but if Nathan Crawford can get a full factory KTM under his ass, he could be an option. (Don't like him because with his skill set he didn't do enough with the shot he got at Livia her team. Comparing with Malkiewicz his results that year on the same bike. Also his blabbing around how shit the bike was, the racing was and that he would go to the USA wasn't smart. He made the same mistakes as Luke Styke back in the day...)
If we talk about young kids, than I would love to see Byron Dennis sign an EMX250 contract somewhere. But that is something else than racing MXdN.
Seriously consider Kyle Webster - his form on both hard pack and sand have been really good. He’s on a Honda as well.
Matt Moss was dreadful at mx since coming back
All you really need is someone that stays out of the dirt and comes in top ten or so. The Hunter bros will put you in the hunt.
welp, we got a problem in Australia… Jett, Hunter, and Tiger is going to be a problem in the future… didn’t even know he was Australian tbh
I don't think the Australians even know he's Australian lol
Post a reply to: Who will be the third Aussie at the MXdN in France?!
