WTF are you talking about? Did Hunter start to push his bike the way Haiden did or did he just drop it and walk away? They both showed emotion which is fully understandable but to claim that Hunter handled it better is complete BS….FFS…Just what point are you trying to make here?

I didn’t say one, or who, handled it better than the other, just saying watch it and make up your own mind. But for me at least, it was very telling.

Actually I have to agree with ole Donny boy on this one, they both handled it about the same as far as I could see on TV, actually at one point I thought Hunter was going to throw a temper tantrum for a minute there, but he composed himself.

Is it the AMA MX2 outdoors championship or the weekly Deegan show, unbelievable how much attention the guy gets.

He was close to Hunter because of the errors of Lawrence not the opposite.

The announcers are so busy talking about it the they totally missed the bike failed.

The way he rides, defends his lines and act to the other riders he's an absolute asshole.

Still has the biggest fanbase going. You don't need to like him but it's a fact

I would've smashed the tank with my helmet until it split open and used a menthol cig from one of the hill people to set that MF'er on fire, and I'm 50.

So RC and RV, for example, didn't win 125/250f mx titles in their rookie yrs? That was their sophomore year according to you

I would hope Will would have interviewed you and you dropped 47 f bombs before they could cut the interview.

Hunter didn't throw his goggles then slam his helmet after yelling the f word. Haiden didn't touch his bike until the track official told him he needed to move it. I will claim hunter handled it a lot better.

That take is hilarious they wernt similar at all and its hilarious you bring up biased opinion. Way to keep me laughing Don.

Listening to one of Matthes podcasts about how Haiden went by the HRC trailer while laughing and pointing on Hunters broken bike to start drama, i can say that i am mighty fine with karma sorting his championship hopes out.

He needs to elevate his game to match the level of riding his riding skills.

(And the work he's put in to achieving them)

"Trailer park" from somebody with a silver spoon.

You can't teach class.

I used to get the shits with riders when they'd dump the bike or whatever after a failure but seeing how the teams treat a bike that has won a championship I figure they don't see it as anything more than a piece of machinery haha

I will say though I didn't love Hunter just leaving it there and walking away for someone else to pick up but I think he was fairly cooked!

Sounds like he dropped a valve and it quit in about a lap according to the ML interview. Bummer. As they say "that's racing".Not sure about the Star bike but I thought I saw 4 green bikes at the start of the second moto. Funny they don't talk about legendary horse power when that happens.

if it dropped a valve it would stop right away. More like he broke the cam chain in half first then everything else was destroyed

Deegan said the bike was losing power for a lap or two.

In that case it seems more likely that the cam chain adjuster, or sprocket attachment was dicey and he was getting exhaust valve to piston contact that became terminal.

If the cam chain broke it would stop running instantly.

I am no fan of Deegan but given he is 17 and under probably the most pressure in his life to this point I don't see an issue with how he reacted. He is very competitive and was obviously disappointed and pissed off. He didn't hurt anything but his helmet. Hunter did seem more composed but he is 23 and as he has said been under much more pressure in the past.

Jett calmly walking his blown up bike back to the pits at Redbud shows some of the difference between Jett and Hunter's personality. His bike also wasn't smoking like it might be on fire...

I was skeptical at first, but Deegan has won me over with his solid rides, wins, and attitude.  This is clearly the year of the Aussies (congrats to Hunter and Jett), but Haiden will be a force to be reckoned with in the future.  Hunter had troubles of his own, which he graciously handled, but seeing Haiden have bike issues while running so strong was really a bummer.  He is really coming into his own, and I'm looking forward to seeing what he does in this last race and in 2024.

Right there with you.  Was there live and he rode with exceptional effort and heart.  This class is stacked - so many horses.  Rare that the Star bikes break down, but the lap prior you could hear it starting to grenade.  Going up the back straight it made a terrible sound, didn't come around next lap.  That's racing.  Maybe he could have nursed it home, who knows?  For a racer this age to be 3 points from the top - no doubt he was going for it.  Tough to bag on him as the opportunity to win is close to gone.  Wouldn't surprise me if he went 1-1 next week!

Love the emotion from Deegan…this kid is super competitive and after his bike blew up is exactly what I want to see. This kid is a winner…

Regarding all the comments bashing Deegan- I’ve seen years of responses on VitalMx and many of the grown ass men on here can’t even control their emotions on a Internet forum, let alone being 17 competing for a outdoor championship..

Any professional racer who comes by a competitors pit area and points and laughs at the team, bike, whatever, for ANY reason, is a fucking child and that kind of behavior is embarrassing

I'm not making excuses.  When I say he's 17, I'm saying that because it's a factor here.  I know I said and did things at 17 that as an adult I'm embarrassed by. I'm willing to bet most other people can say the same. I recall a young RC being so upset that he threatened to kill Matthes which is far more egregious than pointing at a red plate and laughing.  However, if Haiden said this, it should be a teachable moment for him.  His parents and team should sit him down and talk to him about what it means to be professional.

It's also matters that the story is correct and to not just make things up and spread rumors that are not true.  But one thing I learned  is that there are people who are going to dislike Haiden no matter what he does which is why I usually avoid these types of discussions to begin with.  I started a topic saying I was bummed about Haiden's bike breaking because he's been doing so well, and it's turned into grown men being far more immature than Haiden has been. Calling him a punk, saying karma got him, etc.

Haha!  RC told Matthes that he was going to get his shotgun, and stayed  pissed off at him for years, LOL.

Good point. Steam can scald directly with no fire.

A bunch of grown men arguing and being upset over a 17-year-old. Let's look in the mirror before we talk about character and maturity.
