The show was good. DV talking to James about the Daytona wall jump was hilarious. James’ answer about why he was doing the quad every lap in 2011 at A2 was interesting. Basically said it was easier for him than doing triple triple. I thought it got alittle awkward when DV brought up Chase’s mistakes. It’s amazing the details DV remembers about races that happened 25-30 years ago. Ok I’ll stop kissing ass now.

Yeah, but come on here and ask some tough questions and you'll get darts thrown at you by the angry mob!  lol

Unlike other sports, our MX media has a tough time asking tough questions. It’s more of a kiss-and-hug-you-got-unlucky-onto-next-weekend kind a vibe we always get. I’m a huge fan of the sport and I’d like to get to the bottom of it when I’m on the show. I’m not linked to anyone in the industry or media so I’m ok being the a** hole who ask questions everyone is too scared to ask and I’m ok with the consequences. I thought I was nice about it and Chase was very genuine in his answers. Thought it was “great radio, bros”… 😂

You need to be flown to Vegas to cohost Pulp every time something controversial happens.

Sounds like you are doing great things in interviews.  For those of us who don't have time to listen, what's the cliff notes version?  You simply asked Chase why he keeps falling?

A lot of the great riders seem to have great recall about races that happened decades ago.  I have to think it is somehow related to their greatness.

DV and James seem like the only 2 pros that were paying attention when they raced. I'm constantly surprised by the kind of insight James has now and from back in the day, he was way more than a stretch the throttle cable rider despite what it looked like on the track. Good stuff.

Steve kinda interrupted you when you were telling the story of Jett’s dad confronting you, was there more to the story than what you told or was that it?

Yes, basically what he asked. To me it sounded like Chase didn't mind the question at all.

What was Chase's response?  He never seems to get defensive and answers straight up.

Chase has continued to do plenty of interviews throughout all the struggles and I've never heard him sound bothered by a question. He expects to get asked about falling by now. I think he sometimes disagrees with what is being said and chooses not to argue about it since there's nothing to be gained by doing so, but if he wasn't comfortable being asked he wouldn't do the interviews.

Yeah Chase was great in answering, I said awkward because at first there was this 3-5 seconds of silence between questions and answers, it may have just been a delay. It’s hard to get perspective because you can see DV ask the question, but can’t see Chase, who’s on the phone.

He said he missed the rut this weekend coz he couldn't see coz of jetts roost.

I think it may have been seattle he washed the front. He said again he missed the rut.

He said since that race he has been focusing on the issue and he hasn't had a problem since then.

Then he also said his style he relies on trusting the front a lot.

I heard joe Rogan got interesting in Dv after this one😂

Its funny Dv likes to be a little rough on people but on a respectful way, like calling out the host a beginner rider cracks me up, but that caller who made it to main events on regular basis states the host is a better rider then he was. Then he knows how to ride, but Dv still calls him out 😂😂. Would love to see those guys taking it to the track. Dv will smoke him so quess that kinda makes his statement a fact.. but still not sure if he just likes to play with people or is seriously about it

I thought the part where you were asking him basically what is wrong with his front end and didn't let him just give a generic answer was great. Too many times riders are asked a specific question and they are just like "yeah had an unfortunate moment but it is what it is" or some shit and dont even touch the question.

You are the best co host on the pulp show I think.

It’s crazy then when you are on someone’s payroll you can’t tell the truth anymore, like that suspension mechanics don’t do shit anymore then go for option a or b from manufacturer’s orders. No more secrets to unlock just go with the regular settings. Pretty boring job then I thought mechanic’s where pure  wizards that a rider tells them what’s wrong and they fix the bike somehow to make it work. But they  don’t do shit anymore then add fuel and fix a crashed bike 😄 please correct me if I’m wrong

I think had you used the general mechanic for your argument it might ring true(r) as (compared to any era pre four-strokes) they are more or less parts changers. But there's no doubt the suspension tech's are savvy knowledgeable dudes with tons of experience. Prime example would be the Gilmore/Tomac duo. It takes not only knowledge but a strong technician/rider relationship to find such a specific setting.

It's well known that option A or option B has been presented early on in a riders new career with a team just to get a base figured out, but I think it's very discrediting to the suspension tech's to state, "suspension mechanics don’t do shit anymore".

Don't mean to bag on general mechanics either, they put in a crazy amount of time to build and rebuild those bikes every week.

Thanks for your reply, back in the days I asked for the riders autograph and his mechanic because in my opinion it’s a team  effort to win races. And I hope its still like that nowadays.

The problem is what DV himself said above. The questions are called “Tough” but in reality it’s what anyone would ask a pro athlete in other sports because the fans want to know. I don’t think it will ever change since this sport is so tight knit with the media and teams but respect for asking good questions. Also props to chase for answering.

I haven’t listened to the whole podcast so I’m not sure what he asked stew but DV just comes across as a straight shooter

yep he was just direct while being friendly.  That whole segment was good, with James walking through his thought process on the wall jump and how he figured it would allow him to slow down a little on the rest of the track which he thought was even more sketch.

I think dude reeeeeallly just wants a shot at getting the Lawrence's back on the show in the future. They seem kinda finicky about being talked about unless it's in the best possible lighting.

Just watched, Dam DV really is like a scientist of this sport! Literally studying every part of any error, his knowledge and attention to detail is priceless for any pro!

I think the only way any relationship between him and a rider is the rider doesn’t like hearing the truth
