What’s your best memories of Spring Creek/Millville?

It was really cold that day (2013)..was dressed for hot weather and froze our ass off.

Watching CR22 remount on that Honda after I thought he was dead.

Freezing cold outdoor shower, it pumped the water out of the creek.

I think it was 07, the year Townley and RV went at it, and Hepler came back at Millville and trounced them in a muddy 2nd moto, the footage from TGO was awesome.

One of favorites was being there for the first national in 83, and then many many more since then. Place is just cool to be at and passing that along to my kid, who is riding practice day today as I sit at work...lucky SOB.

I was real young and watching from near the announcers tour. I thought for sure I had just witnessed him die when he launched into the air like that. Dungeys mom was shook 

Sometimes in the late 90's on Friday or Saturday night a tornado came through.  Luckily, nobody was hurt but a lot of downed trees and a few fell on campers and crushed them.  It was a freaky.  

RC and Reynard I think 97 in the 125 class the year they were jumping down to the bottom of the hill. I took my GF who was working in WI for the summer and walked around the whole place. She was stunned when she saw those 2 launch at the top of the hill the first moto. 

I live close by so there are many memories, racing and watching.  Stewart/Canard was a crazy day - Also, remember Dungey coming DOWN Mt Martin in 4th or 5th with the throttle pinned, roost flying uphill - crazy.

The rain that allowed RC to lap the field - 

#7 perfect season

#4 perfect season races - he was on another level on the 450 Honda.  

Alessi debut - he rode with a lot of heart for a 16 year old, clearing the jump that only RC and Windham were hitting, big balls.

Racing there was always a great time, it's a real track, even when it's tamed down for the local series, you better be ready to ride your sack off, it draws a lot of really good talent from everywhere.

Only been there once, in September 2020 for the National.  Cold crisp morning, beautiful sunny day at what I think is one the most picturesque tracks in the US, and probably the most friggin awesome motocross track, maybe anywhere??  Between the setting, the dirt, the hills, etc. its hard to beat.  Great spectating too. 

Great battle between Ferrandis (Star) and J Mart on the Geico Honda in the 250s.  That Yamaha had so much more torque than the Honda, I honestly felt bad for Martin.  Ferrandis would pull 5 or 6 bike lengths out of all the soft corners and up the hills, but Martin would close in on the other sections.  Martin would have beaten him if they could have gotten another few HPs out of that Geico Honda....   Anyway, my two oldest boys were with me, my 9 year old boy went to Mall of America with my wife and daughters.  The 9 year old said choosing between the Mall of America and Motocross was "the hardest decision of his life", lol 

Donny coming out of retirement to pull holeshots in 1995 and finish 4th overall, That was my first national. Millville has produced epic races over the years. 
 

Reynard straight up beating RC for a moto in 98 was cool, then RC doing a can can and flipping over the bars coming down the hill. 
 

Roczen in 16 was unbelievable, crazy to think what level he would have brought the sport with out that Injury. 
 

RVs pass on Townley coming out of the sand wash in 2007, RC lapping the field in 06. The list is endless. 
 

Not knowing it at the time but Emig winning both motos in 98 after breaking his thumbs. 

Just to name a few..

I had not been to the track in years,or on any track in D23. I bought a new CR250 on a wednesday, I rode it up and down the street/ heat cycled  a few times that friday.

Filled up the tank sat, picked up the girlfriend sun morning, we drove the hour

and 20 minutes to Spring Creek,  Told her I would do practice to see how it felt.

It was ok, decided to race- 2 into first turn

held it the whole moto. 2nd race worked my way up to 3rd , for 2nd overall. 

then I raced all the d23 races at spring creek the rest of the year- never placed worst than 3rd. I never practice- no time to.

Not gonna repeat any of the others that stand out to me so I'll add a couple new ones.

The year they extended the whoops to be nearly twice as long and put a speed detector/radar next to it. RC was hitting them at 50+ MPH and the next fastest guy was in the 40's or something wild like that. 

Nick Wey's nasty crash into the creek in 2012 I think. Not a "favorite or best" considering the outcome but definitely a stand out. 

Least favorite is having to hit these things every lap when I ride there. I suck so bad at them!

driving from LA with 3 great mates in a van we brought for $3000,  wrenching  for Luke Burkhart who was out of another van and scoring points, hell of a road trip 

My favorite one might be last year. Tomac and Sexton going all out within a second of each other was nuts. But watching Tomac's speed the 2nd moto for the first 3-4 laps was insane. Then 2018 Tomac going beast mode both motos from bad starts to win, that was pure dominance. '07 RV and Townley in "Lites class", That battle was awesome. RV couldn't find where Townley was gaining time on him the first moto, so RV let him by to watch him for a couple laps and then coasted the rest of the moto. Then 2nd Moto RV put down some serious speed. Then in 450 it was RC's last motocross race ever. Made the current leaders of the class look slow. Guy put on a clinic like he had for the last 10 years at this track. Truly amazing watching him dominate all those years. Then all the times The Martin's put up wins. '21 J-Mart was an amazing race with a broken hand.

2021, son Qualified straight into the 450 class and finished both moto's in the 20's, was his best to that date.

Watching these two bomb down Mt. Martin was pretty special. A lot of really great battles have happened over just these last 10 years.

89 or 90 - fairly wet morning. Coop goes out fist for practice and sweeps Bob's corner all the way to the snow fence and just sprays everyone lined against the fence in mud!  Of course everyone went wild and LOVED it!

Reynards rookie year.  Superstar at factory kawi.  Heads down to the creek after 2nd moto to try and cool down and his dad is scolding him telling him to take his boots off and not wreck them in the water.  Im thinking, this kid must get as much Fox gear as anyone, he's a rockstar, why worry...  Showed the level of respect that family had, really impressive.

98??  Reynard was riding Suzuki, maybe primal...?  Spanks RC first moto.  Terrible start, fell over? 2nd moto.  Was putting like 6 seconds!!! A LAP!!! on RC to charge up to a close 2nd.  Really underrated ride and overshadowed by his Unadilla ride that same year.

Mine are just more about the experience.  2017 my son, brother and I went up and had passes through Lucas to the private little area and all access passes everywhere.  My boy got a sideplate from Osborne and we took the helicopter ride as a reward for his straight As that year.  It was just a great trip.  

The other is 2004 the believe the hype year when Alessi rode amateur day on Saturday still and came blowing by me in the sand whoops and I realized at that moment how bad I suck.  We have been a few other times too but those 2 were the best the Alessi year was the first time we had ever been to a national it was mind blowing.

Watching Tortelli and RC battle in the 250 class as well was outstanding. Even though we got so hammered the night before in La Crosse I passed out for about 10 minutes on a shady hillside. Millville and Red Bud are my 2 favorites. And yes 2020 in the fall during COVID was one of the best scenery's I have seen. 

I remember watching that on tv. My mouth was on the floor lol.

Mine is a little different. I was the first guy in line in 1999 for practice on amateur day on my YZ400F and the track was groomed to perfection. What a treat. Dowd and Emig had a great battle too just can't remember the year but it came down to the wire. RC and Reynard was awesome. Also remember Pastrana pulling a wheelie through the entire section of the whoops on the way back into the track on his 125.
