Well the "purse" or payout has been and still is pretty dismal at best. The promoters need full gates. Competitors at the privateer level are athletes who have been in this sport their whole lives. They travel the country doing it. Risk alot. Sponsor dollars are critical to make the races and compete. I welcome "Only Fans" or any other business that allows privateers to compete. Without outside sponsors our promotors and their shitty payouts at the national level wouldn't be able to fill the gates and us fans would be pissed about that. Wasn't there a top rider years ago that had "Bud Light" as a sponsor??

I think you are a bit off with that. Kids know what OF is. Shit, after Karnow I've seen OF graphics on a kids supermini. I would bet any kid in middle school knows exactly what it is. I would say it's the opposite, the kid knows what it is, while the parent doesn't.
