Announcing

I know I’m going to get roasted for this, but here goes.

Please, for the love of God, NBC, RacerX, Vital, someone, please send James Stewart to school to learn how to speak. I’d rather listen to Will Christien blather on than James butcher the English language. The only reason he gets away with it is because of his historical talent on a motorcycle. I can’t believe that many of you post complaints about RC in the booth but are perfectly happy with James. At least RC continued he education path towards better speaking/announcing and can be understood without having to refer to the YouTube transcript!

Let the downvotes rain!

Stewart wasn't the goodest yesterday but he's improving.

He did most of the commentary. Weigandt usually just reacts to what the other commentator says.

I’d much rather hear a guy who has James’ keen understanding & insight providing commentary than somebody that is trying to impress you with his professionalism but really doesn’t know shit about actually being in the saddle himself. We all bitched & moaned about RC too…but he’s put in the work to present himself as a more articulate & professional speaker. Stewart will improve as well, given time and the right people calling him on his style of speech.

I agree with Waffles, stop bitching and enjoy the racing.

I’m greedy. I would much rather hear a guy who has keen understanding and insight who is a professional and articulate speaker as well. Does such a unicorn exist?

I agree that given the proper motivation, James has the potential to be that person. It would be great for our sport.

I give James a bit of a hall pass because he does some very good analytical work, such as really noticing the lines riders take and things like that.

I guess all James needs to do is be more concise, to the point, and reduce his use of slang a bit. If he is in full time, I think he will improve alongside Weege (who I think is the best American commentator going right now). I will say, I really like Rick Johnson.... I think. One of the old boys last year was really good on the mic. Perhaps another issue with James is he speaks with a high tempo. Take a page from golf commentating and slow it down a bit.

Otherwise, race for race, I think James is doing better than RC. It took RC a long time to improve and I don't think he is particularly good at it. Certainly doesn't have as many insights as James.

Yes, his name is Jeff Emig

for the record, I enjoy James’ loose interpretation of English. I am surprised by that, but it’s dirt bike racing, not golf.

David Bailey is the pinnacle for me. Was so great at talking about the race while also giving insight on the rider and their background.

I also really like Glover and MC.

My wife picked up on the poor use of language as she was forced to watch. She hates anything moto.
I on the other hand, love moto and dont give a shit how James speaks, hes moto.
Sure he can clean some stuff up, but Im more interested in the event. If the powers to be putting on the broadcast are worried about the presentation, let them deal with it.
This sport is what it is, its not going mainstream so get over it.

This.  James actually analyzes the race.  RC just sounds like he is trying too hard to not make anyone mad and doesn't actually breaking down what's going on.  Could James improve his speaking?  Sure, but I'll take the analysis he offers and deal with grammatical errors over the alternative.

This is the correct way to look at it. James is very moto smart, and he is willing to share his expertise and experience with us, we win !

James speaks like he's had to many concussions. Missing letters out of words is so jarring to hear

Is he saying suspect or expect?

Jason was great. JS was great. They work well together and James adds a ton of race knowledge and insight.

The first 450 Moto sucked.

I really enjoyed James commentary.  Weege is by far the best play by play guy in the MX business.  JT did a great job.

of course negative comments get so much play, but in reality the negative are the minority.

sadly the town fool who used to be ignored, now has a voice.

James is the color commentary analyst for the broadcast. He's not the play by play guy - Weege is.  James is doing the role that RC has done for years.  It's very similar to having former players in the booth for basketball, football, or baseball.  At some point you guys are going to realize these color commentary guys are not professionally trained announcers (they're former racers), and that is a really difficult job.  I find James very entertaining - sometimes I agree with him, sometimes I don't.  But its very entertaining, just like when RC is the booth.  Same goes for JT, DB, RJ, etc.

If James is butchering the English language, what is RC doing?

RC can't get a sentence out without restarting it three times over.

It’s not concussions, the dude was a Moto phenom  and homeschooled and focused on racing since he was like 3 years old..

his legacy and bank account reflect that it was the right decision..

It really doesn’t bother me. I liked RC’s announcing way more when he was 100% authentic and spoke truly off the cuff. They now have him so tamed that he’s just like everyone else.

Let Stew be Stew!

He talks just fine for my red dirt Oklahoma ears, not all of us were raised in a part of the country where perfect English is spoken.  It ain’t that big a deal, the guy knows his stuff………that what counts.

The team of Weedge, JS, and JT was great this weekend.  Quit your complaining, it could always get worse and they could bring that Fozzy Bear Rutledge Wood back.

Enthusiasm trumps elocution.

He's as talented in the booth as on the track.

The best since fro ( will be better ).

It's not the BBC 😂

( Just my uninformed opinion ).

James is not there to "announce"  the race. He is there to offer a unique perspective for people to hear... he does it very well too.

Stop whining please.

Maybe they should employ people that are fluent speakers then and not just because they were really good at racing. It's hard to watch American supercross and Moto because they keep using shit commentators and have mid moto fluff segments

His bank account says he can let someone else do this job

I thought James did pretty good yesterday. He had me laughing one time when he was explaining the sound you make on a hard impact , when he made that sound " HUUUHHAA!! ".......I was laughing , cause when I explain to my friends about things like that , I say that exact same sound haha!

I am just glad James can put into words, albeit sometimes mispronounced, what he is thinking or seeing over a person that has a mouth and vocabulary that don’t connect to their thoughts or sights.  One being faster than the other and vice versa causing either to just run out. James need not try to make a joke in every comment, a couple is fine for the day “specially” when you are “cited”.

If Fro could be the guy in the booth that he is in every other interview done with him, he’d be great. Seems he gets too caught up on “being professional” and locks up OR he goes into I am going to be a kinder teacher with all the “OK’s” and “if you wills”
