Weed was legalized in Colorado, January of 2014. The 420 thing was around when I was in high school (early 2000's).

Run it till it breaks! Bought the bike with it bent and don’t care.

Considering the terrain you're riding, it's smart to have those guards!  A super dented pipe is definitely dorkier than a guard!

I run the 998 Renthal Twin Walls, fork bleeders (smart if you ask me), and Pillow Top Lite grips.  I like the feel of the full pillow tops, but for me they cause arm pump.

I guess that makes me dorky.  Funny, I consider myself more of a geek than a dork.

Push-button fork bleeders are cooler than stripped-to-f*$% bleeder screws...

Show up to the track with a koyo or something Chinese.

Cst tires

Use Pepsi cans to make your base and head gaskets. Friend did this once on an old early 70’s dt250 beater. It ran for about 15 mins maybe.

Jb welded engine cases or parts.

Using non flammable air filter oil saw a 02 crf450 burn the airbox up. Crashed restarted it back fired.

Front brake cable wrapped around the handle bar. Owner said you don't need front brakes as we're about to go ride very hilly terrain.

The time the neighbor kid put a 82 cr80 engine into a 79 cr125 chassis. Random plate metal for the front engine mount. The cr80 rear wheel. Using the kick stand as a chain guide. The 23 front with the 80 rear tire. No exhaust.

The time a kid in highschool said he had a kx125 and to come by we can ride it. Turns out he had part of a kx125. Rolling chassis no engine and by riding it. He meant Rolling it down the hill by his house.

want to look non factory? keep wearing busy gear that doesn't match and has colors that don't gel with the bike. we get it. you want to be a non conformist. and it looks horrible, red boots on a kawasaki for instance, Reed was wrong to do it too. 80's/90's had it dialed. look at Jett and Hunter. that's factory. match your gear.

jett

 silver/blue helmet

black/white gear

red/blue bike

purple boots

you sure Jett has it figured out?

That’s a pretty damn good point…

When I go to the track and I see that kid in his “older than he is” SR5 on an ‘80s CR250R that’s not necessarily “fresh” & he ain’t wearing the cool guy gear…

Yet… he’s having THE TIME OF HIS LIFE?

That’s MY sport.

I'd hazard a guess that 99% of the people commenting in this thread don't care what other people run, and would still befriend or happily help a fellow rider out despite them running any of these "dorky" parts.

It's all just tongue in cheek, and we're all guilty of doing dorky stuff at some point.

Carbon fiber covers for some part that's less expensive than the carbon fiber on top of it.

My pet peeve is bikes with high-end aftermarket parts but the guy hasn't washed it in ages, tires are roasted, muffler packing stayed home and everything is bent. Aftermarket triple clamps but bars are bent to hell. Cerekote suspension but he hasn't checked the air pressure, sag or changed the oil since new. A fully built motor and air filter still dirty from a race 2 months ago.

Pains me when people don't take care of their stuff.

Put these on every bike.

Major dork factor, but a big labor and time saver loading and tying down bikes:

Wait a second. Your wife wanted you to run 69, AND she lets you work on your bike in the living room? Is your "wife" just a buddy you live with?

Trust me. I’m still in disbelief too, I put my time in with a horrible one for 9 years that hated Moto and 69 for that matter 🤣. Left that mess behind and scored an ex downhill mtb pro that I’ve introduced to Moto, she’s hooked on Moto now. I run my new number proudly!

All I'm saying is, if my wife says I should run "69" on my bike, the first thing that pops into my head is "Bow chicka bow bow..." Keeper.

Knowing how to use a flat blade and not over tighten things is cooler!

Up until just now, I had always assumed that the same guy wore #69 at every track.

What’s so funny about this thread is the “mixed truisms” here-in…

If you show up for one of our Baja rides WITHOUT a really good skid like a TMD and Chain-Guide & blocks (along with reinforced chain-guide/swing-arm mounts)…? You’re not just a dork…you’re likely gonna be shit outta luck.

It's more fun showing up to a moto track in a full off-road setup on a dual sport than showing up to an off-road (or especially baja) ride in a full moto setup. One is fun and entertaining, the other one is asking to be left for dead by your buddies after your 4th flat and running out of fuel again.

I love showing up to a Moto track with one of my bikes with headlights, it's so funny watching dudes ride absolutely out of control to not get passed by the dude with the headlight!
