We’ve all heard the tale that Chase is going to KTM, right?
However, I’m quite sure Honda has “1st right to refuse”; so, do they?
Do they refuse to beat other offers?
Do they keep Chase?
Does this change things regarding who’s on a 450 at Honda over the next few years? We all know that Jett is on the 450 alongside Chase for the Nationals next month and assumedly the SMX Finals…but, there’s been all sorts of speculation as to who’s on a Honda 450 alongside Jett in ‘24 & beyond.
I’m thinking this can change what we think we know.
Chase's championship may, but I'd say only because this may change what Eli does next year, which would change the game of musical seats if he hangs it up, vs come back.
Honda might have to field a three-man team for them to keep Chase. It seems like the Lawrence's are a package deal, at least they were when Honda wanted to keep Jett in the wake of the Geico team collapse.
Tough call. In my opinion, Chase's future is as bright as Jett's and Hunter is not far behind.
Could be Honda domination as we have been witnessing lately. They would be crazy to let Chase go but Honda has a history of doing that
Honda would be so crazy not to keep Sexton, and the Lawrence’s together for years to come.
honda has any amount of money they need if they want to throw it at keeping all 3

first big bike title in ages. blank check to keep the numberplate. dunno why he'd want to go to ktm right now anyway.
hope and pray Chase just sees reason and stays at Honda..KTM seem foul
Honda will be able to run the #1 plate in the premier class for the first time in over 20 years if they pony up to keep Sexton around. It makes me irrationally angry that KTM will get that #1 plate next year if Chase switches over after all this time!
But with both Lawrences slated for 450 next year, it seems like there's no space for Chase at HRC.
There is as much space as Honda wants to pay for. And Hunter might not go to 450 until outdoors next season.
Honda having all 3 Number 1’s and if they sweep outdoors that is quite the marketing coup
KTM seems foul?? Webb was pretty much right there for a championship and the ONLY reason Honda is getting a championship is because the KTM & Yamaha riders that were actually battling for the big win both had accidents that were not bike related in any way. Your point is moot on this one.
Isn’t the rumor that the deal is done with KTM though? I guess with first right of refusal Honda could keep him?
Wonder if his Honda deal is an automatic renewal if he wins title? Title usually means a big pay increase also.also wonder if ktm would have to pay more since he won title
He’s gone, this changes nothing .
The only reason KTM and Yamaha were in the hunt is because the Honda rider made numerous brain farts earlier in the season. Points in the early rounds count as much as points in the latter rounds.
Makes me want to vomit thinking of Chase on a KTM but I honestly think Honda thinks they are set with Hunter and Jett. They'll have an SX only 450 guy next year and then it's the Jett/Hunter show for the next 10 years. Unless something goes wrong but that never happens in moto.
I think it’s fair to say the relationship between their #1 rider and team management is foul. I feel like Coop has been running on spite this year.
I wonder if Chase feels like even with the #1 plate if Jett will get more of the focus. Maybe he would like to go to another team to get clear of that hype and get the focus he has earned. I feel like the best bike for him to jump to would be the Yamaha since they have their bike figured out more than the others. Also tracks the turn and may help with front wheel washing out?? ….but they have Dylan and maybe Eli still??
This conversation (and the knowledge that his main rival just got badly injured) explains why Chase looked so down after winning a main and unofficially the SX title. He had a look of a man who was trying to quietly and publicly balance a lot of changes.
I know the Lawrences are a package deal, so it likely won't happen, but if I'm HRC, I would seriously be thinking about keeping Chase over Hunter. There's only a one year age difference between the two, and Chase has the more proven upside on a 450. I'm not saying Hunter can't/won't turn out to be an absolute savage on a 450, but based off of this year and last year, Chase has the advantage in my opinion.
The price tag between Chase and Hunter is probably quite different too.
Chase and Jett together would be a very expensive Duo over the next few years.
Pit Row
That's a hard point to argue.
I think it's almost like the bike brand has become less of a thing as it was in years past. I'm green to the death, but his bike looked good, and i see no reason to leave Honda. He threw away more than he won. Tomac had it, and unfortunately lost it. He stays. My two pennies.
Imo chase to KTM is done . Keeping riders that don't want to be there is never a good idea ,for both parties . If honda want to keep him I d say chase says why don't u drop Jett . Which wont happen so shows Chase they value Jett over him .
If the KTM deal isn’t done, The price tag for Chase just went WAY up
Keeping Chase over Hunter is not even a question imo . The advantage in getting Jett over him is probably popularity. If at the end of there careers chase had more championship s than Jett I wouldn't be shocked
Would a Sexton, Lawrence thing even work? A first place guy and a 4-7th place guy would probably be fine, but if they're both, or possibly all three fighting for wins, things would probably get pretty heated at the Honda semi.
It used to be SOP
That was how it was back in the 89’s on Team Honda. On any night (or day…) 3-4 riders who could actually win were on red bikes! Honda might do the Lawrence-Sexton team just to make things exciting.
Or, no.
Hard to believe Chase is going to give the "CRF 450R" Model its first ever supercross championship after 20 years in production.
Hard to believe so many on Vital mx is color blind calling the "Pig", "Blue" in color when it was the "Red Pig" this hole time.
So I guess we no longer have to call the Honda a "Red Pig" ??
I'd say thats worth it for Honda to keep Chase on the payroll youd think.
But from A good source im hearing chase has signed to ride the orange pig aka KTM for 2024.
Honda can do this!
Sexton wants off the Honda, its not about the money.
I hope Honda can keep Chase Sexton and can you imagine him teamed up with Hunter and Jett Lawrence in the 450 class. Let the Dynasty begin, just like the old days with Bailey, Hannah and O'mara. Honda would be nuts to let Chase go.
