Update from Webb on his condition and racing intentions for the remainder of 2023...

that's a bummer for sure, wish him well. Glad he went to the hospital after the race and not the airport.
He probably feels fine and ready to get back on the bike now, but just has to sit down and heal. That's gotta be frustrating. He fought hard this year in supercross. Impressive to watch. This new version of Eli is super elite.
Does this put an end to the rumours that he’s racing WSX?
Balls across the face....that sucks

Nope. Adds to the likelihood.
Good to hear that he'll have some time to just be a "normal dude" for a while. When the doc says stay off the bike to avoid "scary life issues down the road"....you listen. To hit the head again before fully healed would be bad.
Thanks to Coop for an awesome season.... you made it a very close battle even taking the points lead for a bit. What a year it was for "Washed Up Webb".
Rest up CHAMP.
He said he is coming back for the second half of the nationals and the SMX rounds. In what world does that add to the likelihood of him joining a WSX team?
Does that mean AP7 is the only guy running outdoors? No Husky riders and Barcia will not be at full speed.
Barcia already had it fixed so he will be 100% at round 1 of outdoors.
Webb will not be sitting on the couch he will still be training just not spinning laps.
Was there in person and never saw AC hit him. I looked over at Tomac because he made a weird body movement to look back. Then as Tomac went over the finish line he took a long look over at Webb still down in the corner. Then they showed the crash after the race was over and the whole crowd groaned and gasped when Webb got hit. It was vicious. Sad to see him go out like that. Was going to be a crazy last 3 rounds for the title. A few others now throwing out the white flag for the supercross season. Tomac has beaten them all again, truly insane what he's done on that Star Yamaha. Now we all look forward to what outdoors has to offer.
Collar bone is fixed, but he also broke 2 ribs and his shoulder.
I don't get it, why he sit out for the first half of the outdoors ? Sounds like a long break for "just" a concussion. May be he knows he is gonna be smoked bad. Less embarrassing to sit out for a concussion than be smoked and ride between 5 and 10 waiting for a fresh start on probably the blue bike. I m harsh ?
In Lloyd Christmas's world....
SX is just too long. By the time we get to outdoors about 50% of the top guys are out.
dude is a warrior, but if you take away the possibility of winning it all (by sitting out a few rounds) does he just kinda roll around in 7th all summer? Wouldn't surprise me...which is too bad.
Thread title is misleading. Homeboy intends on racing *some of the MX season.
Its a bummer you arent in his postion instead. Atleast you'd have a reason for such a completely stupid statement.

You obviously have never had a moderate concussion and I’m sure that this isn’t Coops first. Definitely not something to fool around with a tough guy attitude. When your highly educated neurologist tells you to take six to eight weeks off of the bike and you value your future health, you listen. That means off the bike. No free riding, no practice, nothing. Your brain needs time to heal.
I guess you've never hit your head, which is frightening with that kind of comment.
I'm just glad he didn't get hurt worse, and that he'll be in some motos and the SMX.
If they got the check book out , and made 3 calls to AC222 , RD5 or Marv.....in sure at least one of them would be down for it.
But they better get on the phone right now , because outdoors is right around the corner!
As of a week or two ago, Marv still had a brace on his wrist, and AC is the current manager of of the KTM team in the GPs, so they're both out. The only one with even a remote chance of doing it is RD, and that's probably only in the 1 - 2% range based off of comments he made after last season.
Considering his statement I'm 100% sure he hit his head more than once.
I would think Colt Nichols phone would be blowing up right now.
Would deff be weird to say he's racing outdoors if he was planning on WSX.
Only counter would be maybe releasing a vid like that could help in negotiations with WSX. Similar to when fighters say well I'm gonna take some time off when really they are trying to get the opposing negotiations to become a bit more aggressive.. Just a thought
First of all, concussion awareness has come miles and miles over the years, from sitting in a dark room for days to more of an active recovery approach. Regardless, bottom line is he needs to adhere to the protocol put before him. Coop is not a neurologist, and i'm pretty sure no one on vital is one either, so....having said that, if the rumours are true that he is or wants to go WSX, then these few outdoor races will be token (okay, wrong word, but you get my drift) as a way to fulfill his contract, OR if his contract is up and he has not officially signed off on outdoor MX, then maybe he moves on. Long term, not doing MX I think hurts Cooper's continued development as a rider and come SX 2024 I don't think it puts him in a better position to challenge for the title in 2024. I was totally impressed with Cooper this year even though he lacked the pure speed of both Tomac and Sexton (and sometimes Barcia), he was still sneaky fast and incredibly consistent. I don't know how he finds more speed if he isn't getting gate drops all summer (or whenever he is cleared) to come back next year to challenge again the way he did this year. Going to be an interesting summer for sure.
His recovery timeline and the utter pointlessness of riding half a low value outdoor season when he's already qualified for SMX.
I'm a fan of Colt, but the nationals have never been his strong suit. He's got two podiums under his belt (3rd x2) back in 2017 and 2019.
His average finishing position outdoors is 11.44.
In saying that, the 450 class will be depleted this year.
How?
With some of the guys from last year not returning (Dungey, Cairoli, Alex Martin, Bogle), Musquin on an SX-only contract, guys racing WSX (Wilson, McElrath, Savatgy, Roczen?), guys on the injured list (Craig, Stewart, Webb, Hartranft, Anderson?), and guys going back down to race the 250 class (Marchbanks, Weltin?), there is an opportunity for just about anybody to have their best outdoor season ever.
Besides that, I believe he's racing WSX.
All 3 of those teams have outside sponsors that pay big money to see those teams lineup. I'm not saying he will contend for a championship but he is a top ten rider and a name. Plus he will be looking for a ride full time next year. The wsx series is great for quick money but let's be honest. It was a joke last year after the top couple of guys and I my opinion will not be around for long. Hope it works out for Colt but he would be better off showcasing what he can do both indoors and out for 2024.
