Pretty much everyone I talk to that follows moto prefers the outdoor season and kinda just watches supercross because it's better than nothing.
What does your friend group prefer?
In terms of contract value, sponsorship, and overall media attention...yes, Supercross is still way more important and reaches a wider audience.
I'm like you and yours - nothing like MX, although SX is a nice filler in the winter.
I like both equally to the point I think they should both be 12 rounds.
I like both but prefer mx over sx,cause i feel like sx begin to bore me around round 4 .
The outdoors and mxgp season i try to watch them all live,sx I am ok to get the results and watch the highlights 🤷♂️

I greatly prefer motocross…for the most part I find that I stop watching the supercross races after 3 or 5 rounds (though I do look forward to watching Daytona every year) and just check the results every weekend. Most people that I know prefer motocross…
Im a supercross junkie, Courtesy of mcgrath.
I like the outdoors but im the reverse and get tired of them around southwick/spring creek
Enjoy both but if I had to choose a favourite it would be outdoors.
Supercross has a bigger mainstream fan base. So it’ll always carry more money and recognition.
But I feel guys who ride generally appreciate outdoors more. The gruel and endurance can only be appreciated by those who have tried to suffer through a 15 minute moto at speed on a clapped out track.
Personally, outdoor motocross has always been and will always be the manliest sport in the world.
Race attendance numbers / butts in the seats decide which is more popular.
Sponsors want product exposure.
MX separates the men from the boys. I would love to see the riders being able to sell their own merchandise at the races like nascar. This would really make the experience of outdoors even better.
Outdoors for sure.
Since I've attended many outdoor Nationals I have more of an appreciation for the riders riding those tracks. Hangtown and its off cambers, Millville and it's steep hills, both are brutal to do lap after lap at race speeds. Plus seeing Stewart basically jump over Milsaps at the the now defunct Freestone TX National on a jump combo that wasn't supposed to be a jump.
So I like motocross better, and I'll be totally honest, I can easily fall asleep during SX and have done so many times. Lucky I DVR them to watch later.
You get both with "SUPER MOTOCROSS"
Well I do not see a lot of the top riders doing MX only deals. If you are at the race it is cool. But Money sponsors and exposure Supercross rules the game.
SX is entertaining, MX is the grass roots of the sport. Watching MX in person and the speed they ride at is incredible.
In order of prefrence, AMA MX, MXGP, SX, ARENA, SILLY SEASON WSX, BERCY etc..
The biggest issue for MX on TV is that in many races they can become non interesting with racers seperated by 8-15 seconds which becomes boring for more passive fans. Supercross has battle through the field and is much easier to show on a smaller stage. What will be interesting in the next several years is if top riders for scheduling simply prefer 17 Sx races and 6 WSX races
In the end its all about selling bikes and moto related products... The superercross series hits all the major cities, its advertised on TV, radio, and social media in those areas, so its the one most people know. There for it matters most when it comes to money.
the 3 most important states for motorcycle industry are California, Texas, and Florida.. Yet the Pro motocross series misses 2 of those states completely, so that tells you what it means to the industry.
Motocross is by far the better sport in all the obvious way, but sx has basically been better income generator as people can sit comfortably & eat a burger while being entertained.
True enthusiasts won’t mind the extra work in spectating a national but this is being judged on income only.
It’s a shame as imo MXGP should be the pinnacle of our sport, but sx prevents that so the sport doesn’t grow anymore.
Pit Row
Outdoors is a better series to me. Supercross is just a meat grinder with injuries galore. Not that guys don't get hurt in MX but stadiums seem to butcher more riders.
It misses those two because nobody wants to race on the sun in the middle of summer.
I love both equally and appreciate both of them for what they are and how different they are.
Supercross being more technical, and outdoors being more high speed, rough, and grueling.
Ask Jeremy Martin, 2 time mx 250 champ and would be a contender for a 450 mx title but can not get a factory 450 ride.
An MX championship is just icing on the cake.
I like the atmosphere Supercross creates at home. It's during the winter so I'm usually inside. Race Day Live is on all day so I'm usually getting work done while watching or listening to that. Then there Is a break after race day live to get food ready for the night show. Then the race happens and it just makes for fun Saturdays that I look forward to every week.
I, just like most, love outdoors. However, during the season, I am usually outside and not in front of a TV and if I am, I feel kind of guilty or lazy that I'm not out doing something on such a beautiful day. So it's a little harder for me to get into but I follow both equally as much.
I am sorry for the mx guys, but SX is the pinnacle. About a million fans in the stadium each season, lots of tv time, the best talents, lots of stories, all the broken dreams you want, sx is 1st league and is far to be matched. I watch replay of mxgp's or outdoors while I wake up at night for sx. Otherwise what the heck would I do on a US forum ??? SX = F1
Put me in the "I love motocross more" column but....it's hard for me to watch all the rounds as sitting on the couch for 4 hours during the Summer when we have good weather just doesn't happen much.
I like them both but I cant help some people say they love MX and hate SX because its more "core" to say that.
Going to watch in person is one thing but they don't even compare when you are talking about watching on TV at home.
The biggest reason I think is just the timing of it, you can go out and ride all day get home have a couple beers with some buddies and watch Supercross on a Saturday night, we have a local sports bar that we can always get to put the race on at least one TV, watched Nashville this past weekend on the patio there. MX is on during the day during the best weather of the year so im usually doing stuff, Ill usually put on the replay in the garage while im washing my bike or something or if its a west coast round watch it live.
Also does anyone else notice the image quality just sucks on MX streams maybe cause they are usually somewhere with poor signal.
Supercross is fantastic but pro motocross is even better.
I am usually ready for the other one when one ends. Love both. I dont get mx isnt for tv? Some of the angles and speed shots are awesome. I really hope we can hear the bikes. It loses a lot when they are too quiet on the broadcast.
I usually watch sx live and mx the evening of the race for that reason.
He needed to be a 2x SX champ to get a 450 ride.
