Is there no one here posting on this thread, not even ONE of you (besides me, that is) whose work gives them a profound sense of purpose? Whose work is something they'd continue to do even if they took away all the money and tortured you for doing it instead? Is there no one here whose work gives them a chance at making history?

If it did, then you'd understand, with exacting precision, what Anton Wass is doing with the Stark Varg and why he's doing it. And if you don't, then you never will. Every day when I rise out of bed, I probably look like just another aging shit-kicker, but I'm not. The dent I've been able to make in the history of the excruciatingly unforgiving industry I'm in gets a little bigger, and man oh man, what fun that is. It's why I haven't taken a vacation in 30 years, why I work late every night and at least part of every weekend, why I see wealth as merely a useful byproduct of what I do, and why I would never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, accept a buyout.

By their own admission, Stark's intention is to make the greatest dirt bike in history. They have no intention of playing nicely with the other kids in the OEM sandbox. THEY.  WANT. A. WAR. This confounds you, I know - but it makes perfect sense to a guy like me.

Go back and look at the myriad postings I've made regarding Stark and the Varg. They go back years now. There's not ONE that doesn't still hold water. Can any of you say that? I know what is motivating this guy to do what he's doing, kiddies, BECAUSE I'VE LIVED IT.

I like the idealistic concept that you’d continue to perform your historical work even if you were tortured for doing so. At that I’m going to have to call bullshit, depending on the form of torture you’re accepting.

Ya know, I thought for sure I was completely done with this place, but just on the slim chance you're actually being truthful with me, I'll tell you exactly what I mean and use my response as a sort of farewell post. I have an incurable disease. It's been in remission a long time, but back when I was in my 20s it was a BEAST. Back then, I would do the exact same thing I still do today for a living, but at that time I wasn't making any money, I was just doing it because I was committed to doing it. And whenever I did, the pain afterward would become so intense it would tear me in half. Every night, I'd have to sleep in a bathtub filled with near-scalding water just to get some rest. The water would cool down completely by around 3 A.M. and my body would begin to tremble, and eventually the trembling would become so violent it would wake me up, and at that point I would get in my bed and try my best to get a little more sleep. I'd head off to my job at 7, get home at 5, and I'd do it all over again, knowing that by midnight I'd once again be in complete misery; and I did that night, after night, after night, after night.

So, is that torture? Depends on who you ask, I suppose.

I'm sorry You feel that way, and have misinterpreted my post. It was not meant to praise him. I was outlining what he had said in the interview to setup my reasons for why I thought he may be open to selling at some point. I was wondering if his end goals would be bigger than Stark. And if Stark is a success  was it just going to be a step towards something else. Meaning that he would sell. Or if he would stay interested in building the Stark brand longer than the others he has built.

Wondering if he has a grand objective bigger than what he has stated , or is moving the goal post as he goes. And that he will keep building bigger dreams until he fails  SInce all of that could impact the lifespan of Stark and there has been posts pointing out reasons people think he was building to sell , or building toward  legacy He had said he would not risk Stark to build the flying car. So would that mean he has a plan to start another company? or that he wants to build Stark big enough that it could handle the risk of developing the flying car without risking Starks Future? .

Apology accepted.

As far as I can see the Stark name is the business, as there is no product, and it has been sold to Eicher Motors whose reported cash injection probably prevented it's collapse.

If I'm following everything from Stark correctly, the only thing that has changed spec-wise with their latest update is the bike is now 260 (118 kg) pounds, versus the 242 initially claimed.  Their website is updated to reflect this fact, but I have not seen any other specs change, including performance, ride time, range, or charge time.

This makes their latest update look like a bit of PR spin to me.  At the end of the day, they're delivering a bike that weighs 20 pounds more than they originally announced (and took orders on), with the same performance.

It's still an impressive machine, but if I made a deposit based on the specs that were promised, I might wonder if I've been duped just a little bit.

Any battery people know if all the new weight actually came from the battery upgrade?

Yep. It’s a little porky.

Since @theycallmeebryan is the first customer, then he should get his bike first. Then he can give us a review, specs, and where the extra weight came from.

This was interesting:

”Estimated delivery for new orders: 09 Nov 2024.”

Waiting on tracking info but i did get my VIN.

Looks like there were 20 bikes produced before mine, assuming numbering started at 1.

Wait so now that they're shipping, they've gained 20 extra pounds too? I don't follow this much.

Hey ,don't let some idiots who just like to argue with people and might not even care about what hey are saying other than if it gets attention bother you.

I work for myself and went through a similar but much less extreme, startup to my own business that I am also lucky enough to be able to love what I do for a living. I had a MRSA infection in my foot that was caused from a surgery long story short, it was missed and by the time it was properly diagnosed I was very sick, had pneumonia. And it took almost 2 years of surgery, IV antibiotics and repeat . It will always have some impact on me . Nothing close to what your dealing with though.

But really do not let the brats get you down. I can understand if your stopping posting because of the lack of serious debate ,with most of the opposing views that are expressed are more to aggregate, irrelevant to most of the target Varg buyers, conspiracy's, weak insults and stuff that has already been addressed or are unable to be until the bike is out in the wild, than legit concerns with the Varg. I'm sure the Varg is not perfect. But it seems like the haters do not even try to find real issues , and make sure that they are legit. I can understand leaving if you feel like your talking to a little kid that just resorts to insults .  But really don't let it bother you, that's all they really want to do. Remember that there are many many more people who are just reading these posts and not replying or interacting . And there is probable a large amount of people who enjoy your posts.

There was some changes to the battery. Bryan said they changed the type of cells they used. it increased capacity to 6.5KW up from the 6.2KW they had claimed before, but then changed and said the original battery was 6KW. Another poster said they did not change the cell type. Not sure where or how they have that info so I'm leaning towards Bryan on the info. I have not tried hard to confirm  either  claim on the battery changes or lack of changes. Maybe somebody can address it .But so far that is the short version of  what I have seen on the increased weight.

the last digit could be bike #1 and the 2 could mean anything, like rev 2 or year 2 or a factory code.  or not.

Or just from lying about the "dry weight", as usual?

This is amazing. Almost 20 pages of propaganda, which add to hundreds of previous ones, and what's getting old is a few guys saying "man, all of this propaganda is really getting old"?

Seriously?

Huh

All of the manufacture's seem to have a problem finding accurate scales. IF stark is giving the real ,ready to ride weight its going to be closer to the other bikes when they are ready to go.   I don't think there are as many ways to fudge the weight numbers on Electric as there are on a bike that needs  a couple gallons of fluids. Weighing the bike with all needed  parts, but without gas, or oil, etc.

Hopefully accurate weight info is one of the ways the Varg is different from the Gas bikes. It would be nice to see a trend started to give ready to ride numbers since who really cares what a bike weighs if its not complete and in rideable form.

Manufacturers’ listed weights are pretty dang accurate these days. It all makes sense once you realize the Japanese weight is all fluids including fuel, while Austrian weight is all fluids but no fuel.

“Dry weight” is a thing of the past.

20 prototypes maybe?  That would sound like a good number of test mules overall.  They shouldn't have fully built too many of them before they were completely done with reliability testing and that only finished last month, right?  I could see that they will have 20 sacrificial lambs that they made that won't fully meet the new reliability standards.

I have not really paid much attention to the weights recently.  The last time I had looked at them was a couple years ago. I was looking quickly just now and it looks like most are within 1-5 pounds of the claimed weight VS MXA's weight  ( when adjusted for Fuel since MXA weighs without fuel the way the AMA does , they say its so it is not giving an advantage to a bike with a smaller tank  crazy how small some of the Stock tanks have become) so it is pretty close now.  I had just assumed that even though they changed to listing ready to ride weights, that they  were still fudging them by a little more.  a few pounds could be a difference in scales I suppose.  I remember MXA being one of the places I saw them talk about how big a difference some bikes had when comparing their numbers and the specs . So I figured they would be the place to look and see how close they were.

Just wondering: did Anton put his bikes on a rowing boat to protect mother earth, or are they actually gonna be delivered someday?

Any actual news?

The OP is the first customer and his is supposed to be delivered around the end of May. He hasn’t said if others will get delivered prior to this.

Having said this, it would be hard to justify a Varg when the Talaria Sting R is so good and less than half the cost.

Those two bikes are not even in the same stratosphere, you're comparing a toy to a race machine.  You can't go just by specs alone (although even there they aren't even close), Talaria's controller feels terrible and isn't nearly as intuitive to the rider as even a Surron is.  I just rode the Varg for the first time today, it's everything claimed and then some, there is no way anyone is getting on this bike and not going faster than they can on their 450.

Seriously? Where did you ride it at? Do you have a Talaria?

Those two bikes are not even in the same stratosphere, you're comparing a toy to a race machine.  You can't go just by specs alone (although even there they aren't even close), Talaria's controller feels terrible and isn't nearly as intuitive to the rider as even a Surron is.  I just rode the Varg for the first time today, it's everything claimed and then some, there is no way anyone is getting on this bike and not going faster than they can on their 450.

Seriously? Where did you ride it at? Do you have a Talaria?

Varg i$12k

Talaria/Surron $4.5k

I'm in Spain for a demo, I'll have videos to post later on from the trip.

I have a Surron and have ridden a Talaria, the Surron is a much better bike that the Talaria and neither of them are even remotely close to a Varg.  A Surron/Talaria is a good replacement for your 110 that you screw around on and have fun on backyard tracks or light urban riding, a Varg is a straight up 450 killer built for motocross.  It would be like saying a TTR125 is half the cost of a YZ450F and trying to use that as a justification for making it your race bike, they're meant to serve two completely different purposes.
