This is just wrong and the stats don’t lie. Dungey absolutely had top tier speed many nights and was above average in the whoops always. Webb has only gotten above average at whoops this year and it’s very condition dependent. He has top tier speed at times but less consistently

This is completely ignoring their outdoor records where the comparison is laughable at best

I agree to disagree, every season somebody was faster than him, but his consistency and lack of mistakes, injuries was unrivaled.

You almost never saw him straight up coming from outside top10, or even top5 and win.

Mx i agree

He was happy about getting lapped too. He was done lol.

To answer the question, with 0 crashes, I don’t think a champion of that particular season has ever been lapped.

Still want to hear from Webb what happened.

I think by being lapped, he was protecting as many points as he possibly could.       Eli pushed toward the front...that could have gone badly too, but it worked out for him.

Webb had the speed tonight and was in the top three in the heats.   The rain really did something to him, which is very odd.

Not looking good for title 3.   He's had a great year when everyone wrote him off...as has been the case throughout his career.

3 races left....anything can happen.

The top 3 put a large gap on 4th right away. On tv it was difficult to tell if crashes held up them up or if the top 3 were just that much faster.

this was a race I expected Webb to make up points especially with Eli’s crash.

This is just my guess.  My guess he was doing the best he could and not do a face plant in the mud, just making laps like many others on the track.  He was probably like f..k this it sucks just let me get through this.

Think Dunge got lapped by KW in Seattle in his 2010 championship season.

Dungey got 4th that race.  Did KW lap up to 4th?

Yep.  The game plan was “I’m gonna cruise around in second and hope the main guy goes down”.  It worked out for him a few times though.

I don't know... I mean he does a pretty sick  wheelie in opening ceremonies.

Don’t get me wrong. He deserves his championships, is a bad dude and his racecraft and grittiness are all time.

However, when I watch him ride, I just can‘t see the raw speed, skill and wow factor of the other multi-time supercross champs. And his whoop speed is kinda embarrassing in comparison..

edit: typo

Please dont ever compare RD and Webb. Dunge would have yarded Webb. He was practically James Stewart in the whoops compared to Webb

Yeah RV retired extremely young in his prime, then Dungey’s main competition was Alessi and Josh Grant until Eli came along.

Wonder how far they would have lapped up to if it wasn’t a time shortened event.

I was never a Dungey guy but Tomac, Kenny, Reed, Anderson, Baggett, Seely, Canard, Barcia. Etc etc etc. were all racing when RV retired and RD went on his run which was after he lost the 2014 MX championship to Kenny.

I don’t think you can really discredit him for being consistent and healthy

I think Jeff Stanton is the answer to the question you're asking.

Alright! The oldest guy of the group I‘ve watched on TV was Jeremy, so thanks for the update.
