Ok……this week I want a Beta 300RX!!!

I’m may have turned 67 on Tuesday, but I still want every cool dirt bike made.  If it wasn’t for my frugal wife that keeps me in check I’d have a garage full of dirt bikes.  Three setting in the garage as I type this.

Bike of the week for me this week is a Beta 300 RX, not sure what I’ll want next week!!!  Never know I may go full circle back to Yamaha when the 2024’s come out in the fall or whenever.

On a serious note I’ve been reading about the Beta MX version, 300 RX.  It might make a good old guy ride.  Some of the reviews/test talk about could even ride trails on one.  They sure look good and seem to get good reviews.  It would seem to make sense to have a do it all scooter.  I’ve never seen one at the track before and never really read much about Beta until recently.  There is a Beta dealer on the North side of town, about an 1 1/2 hours away, Houston, Tx is a big place.

I have no idea if parts would be in issue.  I’m sure the dealers are going to say not a problem on parts etc.  Beta sure looks like a quality ride.  Look like they are priced about like the Austrian bikes.   I’m clueless on what fees the Beta dealers tack on.  My guess the same as all the rest of the brands.

Comments please, Thanks Billy.

I purchased a 21 Beta 430 and been a great bike  so far.  I rode the 390 and the 300 2-stroke, not the RX.  The 300 is a nice package and it does run a carb.  Also rode the 23 KTM 300 which is a really nice bike.  Aftermarket parts are way easier to find for the KTM.  2023 Beta’s come with KYB front and rear.

My friend who is 67  loves his RX Suspension is okay stock forks lesser so then the shock. He has a 21 so it had Sachs rear.  It's a fun bike rides mostly moto with it. Track days.

He upgraded the suspension though mx tech current black jack and natty shock. Done some other tweaks to it like new gen CR front master cylinder. Fmf pipe rad valve.

I've ridden it once for a bit stock runs like a 300. Lots of bottom mid goes a lil flat up top. I was also riding it at this sand track. Found myself playing in the corners on it. Instant wheelies. It's stronger than the woods versions. Different porting head and lighter crankshaft.

Watching my friend pull people on it up horse power hill at washougal. Races expert class old timers pulling on 450's. Long time 2 stroke rider.

Never had any issues with it other than he wasn't charging the lithium battery it came with correctly. So it prematurely died. Parts haven't been a problem updated his clutch to the new 22 style clutch.

Liked it so much bought a 21 125RE and stripped it down into a more mx setup. That's a fun bike too nice fast engine. If there was one knock in his opinion is the semi wide ratio gear boxes. Makes it more of an XC then a MX bike. I get to see them every time I go riding. It's been a great bike going into year 3 with it.

Billy......  Congrats on retiring with enough money to own the number of bikes you have, let alone want to have!  Woohoo    My wife would have killed me by this time!   I'm 65 and retired also, but with no bikes anymore.

Every time Herb puts up a pic of that 430....I instantly start drooling. One of the best looking bikes I've ever laid my eyes on. Gawd that thing is beautiful!

I’m intimidated by the grass in the front yard, got to be carpet!!  Sweet ride that’s  for sure.

I’m pretty sure my wife doesn’t know one bike from the other.  I bet I could swap one of my Hondas out for a Beta and she’d never know cause they are all red!!!  Sounds like a plan!!!

I have a couple Betas. Great bikes! OEM parts are easily available. But, as stated by someone else... there isn't as many aftermarket parts as other brands. But, basics like exhaust, plastic, air filters are readily available.

You’re welcome to ride my bike if you like. I’m 64 and live in Kingwood also.

Beta is super good about drop shipping parts from their warehouse in So Cal, I deal with Adventure Offroad in Tennessee and they drop ship me parts in 2 days usually.

I've never had any issues, but I've heard Beta USA will bend over backwards to help out customers (out of warranty even)

I have an 18' 300rr Race and 20' 390rr Race and I love them after racing KTMs for 15 years.

I didn't get any help or consideration when my '17 480 stuck a ring (nobody believes it until I show them the new looking piston with the stuck ring in it still on my shelf) and puked oil (Motul) everywhere 17 miles from my truck.  No break on the close to $500 gasket kit, either. I have heard they are good, but not in my case.  I could not get rid of that thing fast enough after the rebuild.

Might be a bit different with a used bike 2+ years later with a seemingly undocumented issue, which appears to be your case.

Absolutely love my 200RR. Only real complaint is that the wire harness connections aren’t exactly robust and weatherproof. Unplug them and apply dielectric grease. CB3F3623-252E-4988-B4B6-BFE61816093C.jpeg?VersionId=YM9r

I could see how you would think that because I was not clear enough about the timeline as the bike was 2 years old at the time with less than 50 hours on it and I sold it over 3 years ago.  I was not expecting any "consideration" and the local dealer tried to no avail after their diagnosis. The dealer was great! BTW, I'm not a Beta hater...It was my second. So, sorry how that "appeared" to you as I was not specific enough for you.

I've been to that shop, what do you have or bought from them?

Beta and KLX

I bought a used 400 from him.  Looking at an X-Trainer next once I sell my RMZ450.

I have nothing but praise for Beta USA. I had a shock blowout after like 10 hours on bike, they replaced the whole shock (minus my fat boy spring) at no cost to me. My buddy has a Beta 200 with id guess around 90-100 hours. Third gear went out and tore the cases up. Beta replaced both cases at no cost to him as well.
