Is he now on suicide watch? That was painful. It's like the guys in the booth are in his ear. Is Tomac playing a waiting game now, waiting on Sexton to make a mistake? Up till then he didn't seem to have anything for him tonight.
Is it just me or does he appear to always be looking down at his front fender?
Seriously, he needs to go to the Baker factory. His training program clearly isn’t working.
Not a fittness issue.
Yeah, obviously. I’m talking about the mental game. I think Baker knows a thing or two that could help him.

Really it's not helping with Craig n others
Regardless the speed and form is impressive for his 3rd year.
It's the dreaded Honda hook. Watch many of his crashes and they are very similar. He even mentioned it just happened.
Carmichael made plenty of mistakes in his premier class career, especially in those first years, and he worked it out. Sexton will also. He’s the fastest guy on the track most of the time. Let him get sorted. Plenty of racing left and this is a very close points chase. All the negative comments are undeserved. He’s going to be fine, even when Hunter and Jett arrive.
100%. I use to fear for Ricky's life back in the day but fortunately, it turns out he was made of rubber!
IF...(and I really hope so) Chase can not seriously hurt himself, I think this process is actually making him better long term. He knows is now working on rougher tracks, I am sure Honda are filming and analysing Eli and Coopers' evolving lines and strategy over the race and how the track condition affects their choices. All will be beneficial to him long term.
I also now wonder if the bike setup isn't a factor. That front end pinging him off each time...?
If it was purely Chase making mistakes, they wouldn't all be the same front-end-related issue, would they?
I’ve had it. They spit you off quick too.
I’m not saying it’s partially the bike, but I’m also not saying it isn’t partially the bike.
If he ends up on another bike next year and has the same issues we will know it wasn’t, but if he doesn’t have the same issues it may point at the bike a bit.
He’s ok and will come around, he has speed. The double edged sword comes if one of these brain fades hurts him physically
I bet he can’t wait to trade red for orange next season if rumors are to be believed. Sounds like he’s struggling with the unpredictability from the Honda, and can’t get a fix on it.
I feel for Sexton, but it’s kind if funny. I couldn’t help but laugh a little, I mean c’mon haha
Sexton speed is a lil JamesStew7 ish........fastest on track, but sometimes not 1st to the checker.
Sexton will be fine. Long series.
I do wonder if he’ll fare better on a more rear weight biased motorcycle.
I don't see the difference in him finishing 3rd because of a little crash or 3rd because he was riding slower but keeping it on two wheels.
even before he went down it was like his upper body was locked up. looked all kinds of rigid. looked way too far forward.
wonder if johnny O has too much of the ol bicycle in the schedule.
Pit Row
In my opinion it's his technique. He's able to ride faster than anyone when the track is in prime conditions, but later in the race around the 15 minute mark when it's at its roughest point, then add how far he rides over the front of the bike, I think it's like riding a bicycle and leaning over the front of the bars.. any inconvenience and that thing is getting squirley. Obviously he's in incredible shape and his core strength is through the roof, but combine that with mental fatigue of hitting your marks every lap and the smallest of mistakes can make you crash. Tomac, Webb, Anderson, Roczen, Barcia, etc have more of a neutral body positioning where their weight is a bit further back on the bike compared to the way Sexton rides.
but what do I know? You tell me what's going on, Vital experts.
Ive seen it differently- two times the rear end has come round on him (Tonight & the heat race/fuel tank crash)
So Im too thinking some kind of set-up issue.
Or maybe tonight he was dragging the rear brake a little too hard?
I thought he tucked the front and then the rear came round?
REALLY fast !! quite spectacular
.
I kept my mouth quiet for the first few rounds but this is 100% mental for Sexton. He has the speed, bike, technique, and fitness to win races and titles. He needs to exercise "stillness." I'd even say his mindset after these crashes is very damn good.
Yoga, Meditation anything to exercise "focus!"
It's not the bike, brah!
You ever see someone right before they wreck on a bicycle? They have that blank look on their face right before they go over? I can’t unsee that as Sexton was flinging himself over lol
I was wondering who has a history of falling a lot besides Chase? Maybe they are just highlighting it a lot now because he’s supposed to be the “next guy.” Chase does seem to struggle with falling while leading. Anyone have stats on falls for riders in the first few years of going 450?
I agree. Watch many of his past crashes and the front just tucks and spits him off when he isn’t expecting it. Anyone who has ridden a 21+ crf450r knows the feeling. At the speed Chase rides, there is no time for him to react and he ends up on the ground. As much as I love Honda, maybe he does just need a new bike to show his full potential.
Johnny o??
He trains the Lawrence's and has nothing to do with sexton.
This makes sense to me. I recently started riding in a more forward position and noticed the smallest shakeups make me almost go down, like my bike bogging on hard packed ground, making my feet come off the pegs and almost going over the bars. The riding style I’m trying to rid myself of is holding on tight and stiff. With that riding style I never even get nervous when my back end kicks out on high speed stuff, I know my tight grip and body position lets me ride it out the majority of the time. I don’t have that confidence now that I’m trying to change things up.
For being two very different activities I can't help but feel that there's a ton of cross-training potential with yoga and motocross. I'm sure those guys do balance exercises and mobility/bodyweight fitness but yoga in particular definitely has that mental acuity component that feels like it lights up some similar parts of the brain to mx.
Ricky was tough as nails. I remember him eating shit in the whoops on his Kawi in his rookie 250 season and running to his bike and getting straight drilled in the head by Albee. Also A1 his first year on the Factory Honda when he went down on a kinda dragon back obstacle chasing Larocco on his badass "Jack in the Box" Honda cr250 and went over the bars. Only to have his footpeg puncture his stomach not to far from his junk! There's a picture out there that shows blood, skin, and some material from a Fox 360 pant on the peg of his bike. I'm not sure but I think he was back the next race? Or the loop out in Detroit when he went wide open of the single to the start straight? He got up in almost last, bent bike, missing visor and all and damn near caught Ramsey for the win. I always thought it was his build. Short, stocky, and muscular like a pittbull that helped him survive those crashes, and his undeniable toughness. I think taller guys like Pastrana, Windham, Larry Ward etc. were more susceptible to injuries because of their body types. Ricky could duck and roll out of anything. Chase isn't built like RC, he has been lucky with a few of the crashes he's had. But one day he won't be.
