You could run an MXGP team for what Red Bull spends on sandwiches. A proper one.
Even with the budget caps, the money is insane, and so is the coverage.
It isnt about selling Chicken, its about the people who sell chicken, getting to take their people to the races, and eating canapes, and drinking expensive wine.
Its all about ROI, and F1 is the ultimate, because its properly global, and attracts global businesses.
Nobody is eating more Chicken because of that sticker, but people might buy a franchise off the back of it.
"In January 2023, the company announced plans to hire 15,000 workers and expand to 7,000 locations, up from a previous goal of 6,000. This would double its footprint. At the time of the announcement, it had more than 100,000 employees. [63][64]"
On a related note, did you know that the spot in Nando's that is in between the front and back doors is called the Peri-Perinium.
There will come a time where some kid at Lorettas will be there on the $$ from Mom's OF earnings.

Not the best example either as I think that's Kim Ashkenazi.
Worldwide audience for Formula1, 445 million
Worldwide audience for Supercross, about 6 million
The cost to be involved in each sport reflects those numbers though.
I guess that figure isn't attractive to major companies, who have a substantial budget to spend.
Is your sponsor a personal sponsor doing you a favor or a business that believes it will increase its bottom line by being a sponsor?
There can often be a benefit to the sponsor beyond the logo being seen on the car. Being able to use images of the car in Chipotle's own advertising being one big one.
Lewis, tell them we will eat there at least once a week!😂 I still keep hoping for them(big corps) to come and stay. Its smaller but loyal and cheaper. Home depot ktm would look so sweet and the merch would be cool.
its because they aren't/can't even get in the door to even pitch the sponsorship package to them.
JGR could not sell Supercross to sponsors. I do not seeing it changing.
The figure is only attractive if it pays off, which the person or entity seeking the money needs to prove to the person doling out the dollars. Just less or that it's peanuts compared to another sport isn't enough by itself. But by all means someone should absolutely pursue a credible pitch.
My family has an engineering company that makes parts (mostly select portions of parts) for 3 F1 teams. They get specs for a part or portion of a part and are not told any more than the bare minimum of info, most of the time they can try to guess, but ultimately have no idea what it's even a part of, or what team it's for (a famous american based non-f1 racing institution acts as the middle man). Prior to this my grandparents had an Indy Lights team, so i've been around the sport my whole life.
For your reference, it's around a $750,000 minimum to sponsor HAAS and that is only to be listed as a sponsor in small print on press stuff. That does't get you any visibility at all on the driver or car.
Wow ....I am wayyyy out of the loop 😂
I feel like we have all learned something from this thread... Haha.
I think all big companies are pouring their resources into SEO. When comparing F1 viewership to MX/SX viewership, you need to look at the potential returns for adverts being shown to those numbers. Once you have those figures, compare them to the return on investment for SEO. MX/SX is going to struggle massively in the future while competing against SEO. I think we'll see support in the form of a conveyor belt of smaller companies putting their names into as many places as possible, but once they're established, they'll move onto more profitable ventures.
What happens if big business starts pouring millions into sx/mx and it goes mainstream? Will I have to explain to everyone in the office what 4 atroke means? Will there be a halftime show? Will tickets go up to $500 a piece? Do we have to wear turtlenecks? Do the group c guys become millionaires? Do we get to hear the black national anthem before every race? Does the dumbgeon replace tik tok? Cheerleaders? Will there be more celebrities at the race? Will Webb fans set the bleachers on fire if tomac wins? Just wondering.....
Pit Row
I realize you're being a smart ass here....but you have touched on the problem with big money, it ruins everything.
NFL, NBA, MLB, NASCAR etc etc etc..... all shit shows now.
I'd rather we stay niche than become a whore to the almighty dollar.
No chance of that happening....we haven't become mainstream in decades, we're just not a sport for the masses.
I'm fairly confident that's already happening...
I'm sponsoring an engine bolt for 100k
Have you looked into some of the other races around the globe? Friend of mine goes 5 star for a week with really good package for the weekend. Costs the same as a weekend at Silverstone with porpers seats and a generic hotel for 2 nights.
I did this last November for the 2022 Abu Dhabi F1 GP. For me it was a Bucket List trip. It was a great -- though very expensive -- trip. I had a "Paddock Club" ticket so had front straight seats; a suite area filled with great food and wine; track tours; pit access. Very VIP treatment... Tons of memories. Saw so many of my F1 heroes like Jackie Stewart, Emerson Fitttipaldi, MikaH, Martin Brundle! plus all the current players.
Was it worth it to fly 1/2 around the world? Yes.
Forget what ones he goes to but if there is a small break before the next race the normal team employee's can be found in bars etc all winding down after the weekend. This is apparently his highlight to far flung races. Westoners stick out like a sore thumb in some places and after a few beers very welcoming to starangers 😂
On a side note the vintage car races are worth a trip, well in the UK especially. You would be surprised who you bump into at these events. And to see WW2 fighter engine's being thrashed bolted into what looks like a child's pram is insane.
A lot of what you're saying is valid but Chipotle isn't franchised so nobody is buying a franchise from that sticker either.
I'm not claiming to have a lot of experience in this or insider knowledge to sponsorships inside of moto but I do have a tiny bit of experience in companies wanting to be part of what they deem to be "cool shit" to offer corporate experiences and associations. It isn't all about spend X on sponsorship to sell Y. In a lot of motorsport, yes even F1, those numbers actually don't always make sense. There is an intangible involved that can't be plotted on a spreadsheet. A lot of companies involved are spending that money because a decision maker likes it - plain and simple.
I want to hit Singapore next but may try Abu Dhabi after reading Snoqualmie's Paddock club post, sounds like a great time.
That's cool. I bought passes in the Sports Illustrated suite at COTA this past year for a business function and got to see Jackie Stewart among others. Being up close and personal with Jackie was the coolest part to me. I've never been in a F1 paddock but that sounds awesome!
I've only been to a few F1 races but one was Monza and that was quite the experience. The Italian F1 fans are CRAZY!
I’ve learned that I read your posts and hear your voice like you’re saying it which is creepy.
Creepy and super annoying, I would imagine. Haha!
Fighting words.
